  • PLEASE RESPOND Mr. how long have you been playing?

  • Really nice but his version of Stars from Simply Red is way better..

  • @Beun007 I disagree. It's a very good cover but I think Africa is the best cover ever.

  • Every time I watch this, I like it more and more.

  • Few videos recorded with an electronic sound/keyboard make me have chills down my spine. You have accomplished just that. Please come visit me, have a beer, and christen my Clavinova.

  • @muhhuh2 Thanks. Take all of the electronics out of the equation and nothing surpasses witnessing a live performance. However, if you record the instrument then the difference between real and electronic narrows considerably.

  • Watched many of your videos in the past 15minutes! They're amazing! How you only have 5000 subscribers I have no idea, but you definitely got an extra one from me! :) Keep it up you have some biiig talent :)

  • @DarkY132 Thank you for commenting and thanks for subscribing. Much appreciated.

  • Your interpretations of these songs are remarkable.

  • Any chance of a tutorial?? Great :)

  • @ChasingMyFreedom +1 Vote

  • You are full of win.

    Yesssss. :D

  • Paul Wells!!

You are a 'well' of talent!! Damn incredible spot on version of this song.!! Played it live in 1990 to over 3,000 people at a concert on the east coast with an eight piece band. Yet, you made it 'big' just with a simple piano. Beautiful. I will be learning this arrangement along with 5 other songs you have done. Still love to hear you do Sailing by Christopher Cross, no one on You tube can, but you could Paul. Classic piece right up your alley.

  • wow,, respekt, you are the best, was für ein pianist Fantastisch

  • I don't like commenting on YouTube, but seriously, this is amazing.

  • tutorial! please!!!

  • dam good bro

  • applause....

  • I hate how karl wof ruined this song

  • Yes please make a tutorial of this one. I loved your Supertramp one.

  • man you crazy excellent i love it :) ;)

  • This is on of my all time favorite tracks and you really did an amazing cover of it. sounds great on Piano. Good job :)

  • That was great. And now, do the real challenge: turn off the transposer and face the bastards: and that is the 5 sharps :-P

  • super!

  • sometimes i get this song stuck in my head no idea why? your piano covers are really good to listen to, thanks!

  • Tutorial please

  • Oh gosh, i would like a tutorial of this song!!! It 's so good!!!

  • if i had this type of talent i'd just walk into a piano store and start playing

  • Congrats, hope that goes well, you deserve to be compensated for the obvious effort you've put into all of this

  • Your arrangements are amazing! I hope you're performing somewhere. Hal Leonard publishing should just hire you to write arrangements because many of theirs are seriously lacking the flair of yours

  • @bherber Thank you. I'm performing here on YouTube and am very happy with the steadily growing audience my videos are getting. I did have a good go at getting H&L's attention in the earlier part of last year. I'm working with Seolta publishing now and a lot has been done in just a few months.

  • @bherber Sometimes I'm thinking they'd do that on purpose, so that the "copies" do not sound too original. Yes, I'm serious.

  • Another vote for tutorial!

  • magic

  • Great piano work!

  • i was wondering if you will ever do somewhere out there from american tail

  • God I love you...

  • @Celestialess Hay - thanks for all the favorites and comments :)

  • Its a nice play and I love to hear ....u

  • Paul,

Great work I'm a fan of yours. My two favorite songs that you cover are Lovely day and Not in love (10 cc). Do you have any songs of your own, if so which are your favorites?

    Thanks,

    Bill

  • @Journey432 Hi Bill. Thanks for your interest in my videos. 'Age of pendulums' is the only original piece.

  • AAAA super!! how to play ?? you should make tutorials =D

  • @GwiezdnyWilk votes=2

  • Really really good! Love the song and your playin' ..you should make tutorials =D

  • Have you ever covered any Floyd Cramer songs? He was a great influence on many players through the decades. Also one who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame the same year he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A very elite group. His sound on the keys was instantly recognizable. Most keyboard players are largely ignored but every once in a while somebody comes along and refuses to be ignored. That was Mr. Floyd Cramer. You remind me of him!

  • your piano covers are all so clean and the sound quality so good.

  • Brilliant arrangement and execution!

Not quite sure how it fits to the lyrics you posted, though - singing along to it I get the second verse coming in at 1:35 (with what would be an epic piano accompaniment), but it gets cut short - did you jump straight from the first chorus to the break?

  • @countertony I tend to just play what sounds about right on the piano without reference to the words. It would be longer and have much repetition. I paste the words mainly as search engine fodder.

  • I actually think this song may work better as an instrumental! I think Supertramp added too many intstuments in the original, the beautiful tune suffered as a result.

  • you deserve more views

  • SPEECHLESS!

  • Fandabidoozie.

  • I've always thought about covering this song on my channel, sussing out other versions on youtube 1st.. Althought i can see you play it in a different key then the original, it sounds fantastic and you do it justice :)!!!!! thanks for giving me some ideas!

  • Beautiful. Thats all I can say

  • It's nice to see this song is still being covered. And out of the covers I've seen so far, this is my favorite (:

  • I've always liked this song...great playing Paul!

  • @Lot2learn Thank you Roger - it is an honour and a pleasure to have you visit my channel.

  • ...and it is a pleasure to listen to your crisp and precise playing, rhythmically spot-on which is difficult to pull-off in a solo piano performance.

  • AMAZING WORK ON THE SOLO!!! Most people leave that small but MOST IMPORTANT part out!!

  • Awesome.. as always..

  • Awesome! x-)

  • Awesome!!

  • Paul, you are greet! Thanks! I' am a big fan of Toto. I was once by a peformance.

You worked hard the last day's. You've made a lot of songs. Good work!

    grtz Florian from the Netherlands

  • @florianstaal Thanks Florian. Glad you like it.

  • Love toto... nice job!!

  • Brilliant version!

  • Excellent as always!

Any news on the Competition yet? :)

  • @88GTi Thanks - they said they will take about two weeks to make a decision. The encouraging thing is that the person doing the audition had already seen some of my videos here on YouTube - which makes things easier thanks to everyone's kind comments and large numbers of views.

  • Paul mate, this track is just simply called "Africa" :).

    Awesome cover tho!

  • One of my favourites. Thanks.

  • one of my favorites. good job!

  • awesome. your a great player

  • wonderful :)

  • Love this song. Great job with the arrangement.

Just a note: isn't the title just "Africa"?

  • @CuteTinyB He's changed the title since I wrote that comment.

  • nice

  • I like to say first. :D
