Most of these accounts I've read were relating to the camps as a side note and they had no reason to exaggerate the circumstances. In fact most of the writers were not Jewish and a couple of them were German. There is no denying that very bad things happened in WWII and it wasn't just the Germans committing them.

some camps had typhus outbreaks which was responsible for bodies you discribe.
There were ovens, yes, belonging to the crematorium. Auschwitz housed several hundred thousant inmates!
It was a city! It had a post office, theater, swimming pool, football field, etc.

I cannot understand where Dr. Lipstadt is coming from. There is a massive discussion going on about her ideas on the Dresden bombing pages. They argue that those who question the bombing of Dresden are Holocaust deniers under the caption "immoral equivalencies”, a phrase the Lipstadt invented. Surely any sane person can see that Dresden was a needless mass murder by English people in Bomber Command. The Holocaust has nothing to do with this. Note: Lipstadt was born after the war in 1947!!!

Over 2 million Jews were murdered in the German occupied territories of the Soviet Union. This is not counting the 4 million who died in concentration and death camps in Poland and elsewhere. We know all this because the Germans kept careful records of all their crimes. It cannot be denied.

All the more reason to suppress it. @georgekostaras Photographic evidence is not an effective argument. Photographs have been manipulated ever since shortly after their invention in the 19th century, which led to the belief in ghosts. Check the history of photography and you will find this strong belief in photographs stemmed from the belief that nature was representing itself on the photograph without an artist interpretation. This belief still carries on today, unbelievably, despite the ease of digital manipulation.

I don't agree with being punished for expressing any kind of view, however, the tricks and twists that holocaust deniers use have convinced a lot of people the holocaust is fake despite the evidence. Debra Lipstadt wrote two books. One on holocaust denial, and the other on how she debunked David Irving in court. "Denying History" by Michael Shermer is also a good source to see exactly who questions the holocaust and why.
