The SDR (Strategic Defence Review) was then later published and the UKSF was given a boost of cash for more recuits and equipment. Russia Today, like always just didn't follow up on the MoD defence review. The cuts will fall on old cold war kit like the Cr2 tank fleet in Germany.

Listen to irishlight42 cutting the budget of special forces in a country like Britain where we use small numbers to fight our battles. As a Brit I'm very proud of our army and hope to go on to sandhurst and train to be an officer. But with these cut can we maintain our high class armed forces.

In my officer training here in the U.S., I've had two master sergeants who spent the better part of their 20 plus years as green berets. Speaking in general of modern military operations for the U.S. and the UK for that matter, from missions like the Falklands, Panama, and Desert Storm, to counter-insurgencies like Iraq & Afghanistan (or Malaya & Oman for earlier examples), there's nothing so useful as special forces. Cuts on funding to special forces is very, VERY unwise.
Ok, I come from the US which has a HUGE military budget and I'm going into the infantry, so real cuts on things that I could use in the field (i.e. body armor) instead of on funding to Israel or super submarines which won't see much use in Afghanistan (landlocked) piss me off in general, but one of the most ridiculously foolish things I think to cut these days is funding to special forces..... are you kidding? In today's world, special forces are the most useful military asset you have.

In my officer training here in the U.S., I've had two master sergeants who spent the better part of their 20 plus years as green berets. Speaking in general of modern military operations for the U.S. and the UK for that matter, from missions like the Falklands, Panama, and Desert Storm, to counter-insurgencies like Iraq & Afghanistan (or Malaya & Oman for earlier examples), there's nothing so useful as special forces. Cuts on funding to special forces is very, VERY unwise.

Ok, I come from the US which has a HUGE military budget and I'm going into the infantry, so real cuts on things that I could use in the field (i.e. body armor) instead of on funding to Israel or super submarines which won't see much use in Afghanistan (landlocked) piss me off in general, but one of the most ridiculously foolish things I think to cut these days is funding to special forces..... are you kidding? In today's world, special forces are the most useful military asset you have.

They don't arrest, they are sent in to kill people when the police and security forces authorise them too.
