Yes you can have friend without joining to any of the fraternity.

All ligetimate fraternity got thier own rules on how the members behave properly, serve the community, etc, which is different from normal friend that you can find out there i dont need to explain in details

Why dont you try in any fraternity for you to know.

Anything that reeked of clique didn't have a chance at UCSC when I was a student. I was so proud.

I went on to become the International Exchange Specialist at the Universitly of Washington thanks to one professor, a remarkable man. But my counselor was truly pathetic. That was a terrible mistake on my part and made the whole experience miserable.

Choose your counselor and professors very carefully. Don't waste your time with those that aren't qualified but got in somehow.
