There's only 1 Northern White rhino left in the Czech republic left after today's (6/2011) news. That makes a total of 5 left on the planet: 1 in the Czech republic, 4 in Kenya and none in the wild. Maybe that will dampen the humor of posted comments on this video.

More depressing news: 1) Scientists now think the Northern White rhino is a separate species, 2) cloning has failed.

Humans are expendable. I say machine gun all poachers publicly (I'm against the death penalty for anything else).

i believe in letting animals roam freely .. mother nature has her own way of dealing with the ballance ... however research on some animals is very necesary due to man interferring in the first place ... if it wasnt for the low life scumbag poachers they wouldnt have needed to touch this rhino .. and for the record the horn is dead skin and inserting a transmitter into it is the same as someone cutting their nails ... learn the facts beforee you spout out instant rubbish

"Mother nature" is a fairytale character. Nature ALSO never intended for the animals to be poached for horns or die due to habitat loss, but it's happening now. These men are attempting to revive the dwindling conservation status of these megafauna. This is practically necessary to keep them in existence.

Poaching isn't the main reason their conservation status is slipping, either; it's loss of habitat.

I just find it annoying people are so quick to judge things like this without understanding it at all. I mean do some reasearch before you get all hell bent and become a PETA activist! If it weren't for reasearch and transmitting devices we wouldn't be able to better understand these animals and wouldn't know how to help them recover from the very brink of extinction they are perched on.
