Does the show teach preteen girls to whore out? Yes, but so does every other show aimed at kids these days. Give the liberal plague another 5 or so years to spread and you will see a show just like this centered around preteens and gender identity. After all a 5 year old should be able to decide if they are male or female, right liberals?
I don't NECESSARILY think the girls are being deprived of their childhood- most of the people I know, gladly give every second of their spare time to dance. You just have to understand that this IS what some of them want to do, for the rest of their life. Though, I have to admit, the moms can be pretty bad, but I've seen worse... :P

it's really not as bad as they make it out to be. when you're a dancer you take the corrections and move on, and you learn to suck it up. all the competition and rehearsal...its fun! that's why they do it. they're making it look like all the flexibility moves and jumps are painful and hard, but when you've been a dancer for so long it's actually pretty easy. and yeah, girls cry sometimes just like they do at soccer practice or gymnastics or any other sport. that doesn't mean they hate it :P
of all the weird/horrible things going on here, the one that absolutely bugs the crap out of me is when abby says "kids should cry when their arm is broken or someone died. that's it" crying is a a biological and natural response to stress or overwhelming emotion. you can't dictate when a child can or cannot cry. abby just needs to shut the fuck up about it.....
@Loverleezack as far as i know is she the person who make up the choreography and stuff, but she doesn't really teach it to the kids. there are other dance instructors to do that. She knows a lot about dancing, but i've never seen her dance...

Where are the fathers of these girls? Let me guess, most of the fathers are absent and these girls are born out of wedlock. This is what happens when the mother becomes the head of the family, children tend to grow up dysfunctional. I don't know a single red-blooded dad, who would parade his daughter around like a whore especially at this age all for fame. These mothers should be ashamed. When their daughters end on pornography movies and shooting up drugs, the mothers would be to blame. Shame!

The ruffled turquoise outfits are not just slutty, they distract from the performance. Something classy and streamlined would accentuate graceful moves.
It's competitive dance.. I was in the same boat as these girls when I was their age. I had fun and now that I'm a college student I miss dance, a lot!
Abby is a coach and yelling to get your attention and get you to do things right is what coaches do. No one ever says anything when a football coach or some other sports coach is yelling at little boys.
And the reason they wear so much make up is so you can see it from far away.

@HollyApple777 'Appropriate' is subjective. That's the problem. I can tell you we really enjoy it, and it isn't really 'wrong' unless it scars the child - which it usually doesn't because children don't always get the metaphors behind the dance. My problem is that if the child is exposed too early from a source that is not their parents, that's bad. That's my only problem. I think the costumes are great because I can see the bodies and technique properly (we wear leotards to dance class ANYWAY).
I can understand you enjoying dancing, but I don't think that people pushing sexuality on kids so young is healthy. And 3:16 - 3:20 is totally inappropriate for such young kids.

literally this is how dance is and is going to be always. it is okay that they are dancing those hours because it is what they love to do and they are on a competitive team. they signed up for it so they have to deal with it. make up is just apart of being able to be seen against the bright lights and miss abby knows what shes doing even when she is a little over the top some times.
seriously dance has been like this since I was in it an I loved it! I loved doing pageants and I'm a full scholarship student in college. A majority of these girls turn out to be disciplined and more well rounded than others r age we also mature faster...these dance moms always talk about the well being of their kids ovr abbeys craziness which I c as being a true mom when chloe said she wanted to quit christi said she would support her...ppl dont understand the lifestyle until they've lived it.
If these girls truly love dance and want to become professional then I don't see anything wrong with what they're doing. This dance school is obviously for girls who want a career in dance and that's not an easy thing to accomplish. If the girls truly feel like it's too much for them, they can go to a school that's more recreational.
I'm a dancer and at times my mother might drive me a little insane and appear crazy but I know ishe does it for me. Becoming a good dancer takes A LOT of hard work.

@HollyApple777 'Appropriate' is subjective. That's the problem. I can tell you we really enjoy it, and it isn't really 'wrong' unless it scars the child - which it usually doesn't because children don't always get the metaphors behind the dance. My problem is that if the child is exposed too early from a source that is not their parents, that's bad. That's my only problem. I think the costumes are great because I can see the bodies and technique properly (we wear leotards to dance class ANYWAY).

The issue is not with the dance moves. The issue here is the mothers and their coach Abby Lee Miller. They spread around venomous hatred of other dancers and expose that to their daughters, along with fighting amoungst themselves. They are raising the next generation of psychos.

Has anyone seen this show?? Rather than worry about which kid is number 1 they should be worried about the fact that their YOUNG daughters are running around on national tv half naked!!!! Never mind the costumes....look what they wear in the studio!!!! I was married to a modern and jazz dancer so I have been around dance companies and studios...girls in their teens and twenties do not wear work out wear half as skimpy..this show is a pedophiles wet dream. seriously dance has been like this since I was in it an I loved it! I loved doing pageants and I'm a full scholarship student in college. If these girls truly love dance and want to become professional then I don't see anything wrong with what they're doing. This dance school is obviously for girls who want a career in dance and that's not an easy thing to accomplish. If the girls truly feel like it's too much for them, they can go to a school that's more recreational.
I'm a dancer and at times my mother might drive me a little insane and appear crazy but I know ishe does it for me. Becoming a good dancer takes A LOT of hard work.
