I don't know about that; I personally get creeped out by the later LOTR movie's Gollum because of his voice. Damn good actor to do that voice that well :)

Gandalf must've boogied down to Dol Guldur when he left the Company. We'll probably see it in the 2012 movie.

@Anathar88 Not exactly - he went with to the gathering of the White Wizards after their stop at Beorn. Dol Guldur was the realm of the Necromancer, and Gandalf was last there getting the map from Thrain to hand down to Thorin, and Gandalf barely escaped.

@celticbattleaxe Yea, I know he went there to get the map the first time, but then the White Council went to attack Dol Guldur sometime between when the Eagles dropped off Thorin and Company and before the Battle of Five Armies....That's all I'm sayin' :)

@Anathar88 Possibly. The book doesn't say what happened after Gandalf heard about the dwarves and hobbit being captured by the wood-elves and after his meeting with the Council. But apparently, he must have gone to either the wood-elves or the Men of the Lake, because he was the old man in the clock holding the basket which contained the Arkenstone, and the same guy who applauded Bilbo for giving the Arkentsone to the Elf-king and Bard. Tolkien left a lot to be speculated :).
