  • Is it ghosting issue?

  • DId you use any Post color correction?

  • My problem with the Sony series camera have more to do with the file formats and colors. AVCHD does not handle motion well at all. 1080P60 has significant ghosting issues. The colors also have severely yellow - pasty tints and textures. I guarantee that if you were to give these same talented film makers Canon equipment, this would have looked distinctly less consumerish. I'm a huge fan of Sony and that is what I learned on, but I haven't liked any of there recent cameras for those reasons.

  • I want one of these. I'm just wondering what lens I should get lol.

  • Impressive...I am buying this one!!!!!!

  • I really, really want one of these - but I can't buy it because it does not have GPS, continuous still sequence mode (for night-time star time-lapse), RAW mode, manual audio levels, an LCD that swivels 180, true smooth-slow-mo at least 600 fps, touch-screen controls and a built-in flash. If Sony would come out with a camera with those features I would gladly pay $4K ... as it is I wait .. and wait .. and wait, putting up with my HDR-CX550V.

  • This camera LOOKED SO AWESOME then i found out it cant shoot 24p...... why would anyone spend 2000 dollars on that

  • @lalaurenvictoria

Pff w/e. Doing a 60i to 24p conversion works well enough if you're into that artsy high end reality TV show film look. There's plenty of videos on here that have vg10 footage that was converted and looks just as good as those funky ass DSLR cameras people swear by.

This camera is still worth the price imho.

Even tho it lacks xlr ports, internal memory, dual memory slots, more customization options on the body itself, a touch screen display, etc. etc.

    It's still worth it

  • @lalaurenvictoria It does, several people have posted examples in 24p.

  • I want this camcorder so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:47 Steadyshot Fail :S

...There is a consumer (not pro) than can understand, and pay for the lens capabilities?. I mean the camera isnt cheap, the lens and accesories neither. This is focused to the cinema amateurs. In that way is a great concept, cuz u can use your needed lens for ur shots.

If u want to be serious get the FS100, but i will prefeer the NX-70 (+800 $) and u can get GPS Tagging ,60p 60i 24p 240fps-slowmo, nightshot, rain&dust-proof, LANC, 96gb, XLR, and more, with a similar lens.

  • @Xhanoir The HXRNX70U would be perfect but it can't shoot stills! Again, I'm frustrated. I need BOTH the still capability of the VG10 and all the video capability of the The HXRNX70U. Sony drives me crazy - I have the money burning a hole in my pocket but I WILL NOT CARRY A STILL AND A VIDEO CAMERA into the mountains!

  • @stevecrye The nx70 have still shots of 7 mp aprox but the G-Lens have a little chromatic aberration when u shoot in high contrast scenarios ^_^

  • @Xhanoir Hmm, that is encouraging; 7 Mpx plenty for me. But, does it have full-manual still controls? The HDRCX550V frustrates me - can't separately set shutter, f-stop, do long-exposures, etc. (I need the same full control offered by the VG10 or the old DSC-H50 - all the various priorities such as Aperture, Manual, etc.) Thanks!

  • Wow, those women are beautiful 0.0

  • love Bali very much ^_^

  • I might buy this cam just because it filmed in Bali lol ;)

  • The two dislikes are from people who don't know how to shoot video.

  • The picture looks amazing. I am planning on shooting my first amateur film with this baby.

Also, since i use PC for editing and post processing, i think i will be able to achieve fantastic results with After Effects. Can't wait to get my hands on this one (hopefully next month).

    Cheers

  • where is Bali god i want to go there now too

  • @ForestRyder it's In Indonesia it's beautifull place, you've to go there, trust me

  • do they have the interchangable lens?

  • does it come with a fisheye

  • Is it only me or the image look so D-XLR. Like you can tell it has a DXLR chip. lol and maybe the use Sony Vegas Pro.

  • This is from Sony! what you don't see is the five lighting guys, the director, producer, etc. JVC HD proline is way better.

  • @TheShinning100 This is a Consumer cam ... JVC proline is better now that there using the Sony XDCAM Format..

  • @TheShinning100 Not to be a dick, but what is your point?

So are you not allowed to use DP's and crew with this camera? It doesn't matter, it's the fact that it is capable of this and probably more. I feel like people don't push cameras capabilities enough and are quick to jump to new technology before reaching a pinnacle of creativity. I spend a lot of money (more than this) just having a consumer HC5 rigged to an M2 pre dslr craze. This is a good product.

  • @imperialpilotx i feel ya...it seems like people are a little caught up in their equipment...equipment wont make you good at videography..(itll make it easier most certainly)..people are losing how to just have fun and record shit like this guy did...buy what you can and have fun with it (unless it's your profession, then you have to be caught up in your equipment)...your cam wont make creativity for you.

  • @imperialpilotx

For sure dude, I totally concur.

Most haters out there are either

    (A) EXTREME videophiles that are spoiled by 20 and 70k price range cameras

    (B) Nikon and Canon fantards that swear by their awkwardly jerry rigged contraptions that can only shoot 10 mins of film at a time.

or (C) Totally pessimistic trolls that have never owned nor ever will own a nice camera yet feel they are qualified to comment on the matter.

This camera is amazing for what it can do. True pioneering

  • @TheShinning100 But it made by a vg 10, so the quality is pretty same like in real I guess.

  • @TheShinning100 I'm sure that Sony would be flattered by your comment. It means they made a great product.

  • What is the problem to have a crew? The point is that this is a really nice camera, cheap and really efficient.

  • what editing software did you use?

  • That dude is creeper PRO status... but nice video camera, seems like it does well under low light.

  • @Zakiller1 LOL. That guy is creepy!

  • Beautiful.

  • im totally getting this camera, not a bad price for what it can do. the sensor is amazing. interchangeable lens with a handle. good quality and everything. but most of all, probably the best i have seen for depth of field. and this is why im probably going to make this choice. just a good 2nd camera to have. does anyone know if there is going to be a "pro" version or a updated version coming soon?

  • @scotto2114 SONY have just announced a pro cam using the same tech that's slightly pricier than the AF101 but takes 35mm primes. There are also rumors flying around that they're developing a "middle ground" camera that will fit somewhere between the pro cam and the VG10.

  • thanks, i think i might get that instead. do you know what the model name is yet?

  • @scotto2114 not off the top of my head I'm afraid. There's a fair amount of info bouncing round the net though...

  • @scotto2114 Just found it. Sony PMW-F3K. Looking at the specs in detail it's pretty hardcore unless you're a professional operator...

  • thank you. but its a pmw? im sure is about $4000 or more. im into cameras with alot of stuff in them. thanks man.

  • i cant find the sony pmw-fsk on google? all i get is the PMW-EX1 when i search.

  • @scotto2114 type "pmw-f3k" into google and it should be the first result to pop up. If you're after bells and whistles it certainly has that - ships with 3 x 35mm lenses and astonishingly enough is actually rated as the most junior member of their cinealta range of feature film cameras...

  • ok thanks

  • ok so i got one but im running a mac and the software runs for PC only so how do can i import the video off my SD card while keeping the clarity. what program do you use to get the footage off or would i only need to get a PC as well?? NEED SOME INFO or a program i can get to import the footage.

  • @sluggard01 what NLE are you using? With Final Cut Pro you just move the file marked AVCHD off the SDHC card and onto your hard drive then "log and transfer" to convert the footage to prores422. Then its just a case of changing your sequence settings from "HD1080i" to "custom HD1080" and changing the field dominance from "upper" to "none".

  • @hdcw2000bc Im running Avid Media Composer 4 but my friends say it works with avid 5 so i think i need that and with final cut pro i think i can get that but i threw the footage in premiere pro and after effects and its been working there as well. thanks. i try your suggestions as well. thank you.

  • @sluggard01 should work just as well with premiere pro as with fcp. Just might be worth checking that your NLE isn't trying a sneaky de-interlace when you're not looking!

  • typical that you block me from your message box, cos you know im right. your camera sucks as hard as your mum.

  • @robblac I think I'll let your abusive language speak for itself.

  • retard

  • Very nice, love this video

  • so does anyone have a better proposition for a camera at this price range.

please share it with the rest of us.

because i was really excited about the nex vg10.

  • @koustoz its is shite mate, sorry, the bst soloution is, a panasonic HDC-SD700, (1080 @50p consumer camera ..apparently !) and an SGBlade 35mmm adapter. this combo costs slabout the same as the nex10.

  • @robblac i will check it out thank you for responding.

  • @koustoz if you look at his channel he appears to have a stake in SGPro. I'd suggest taking this rather combative Gentleman's word with a pinch of salt. As the owner of a VG10 I can't begin to say how pleased I am with the results I've been getting out of it compared to my existing, more traditional cameras.

  • @hdcw2000bc truth is im really looking forward on aquiring VG10 but i ll wait a couple of months first. hopefully till the price drops to 1500E

  • @koustoz sounds like a good idea. The price should go down a bit once the AF101 comes out in December, plus it means the 50mm e-mount lens will be out by the time you're thinking about getting the VG10 - the 16mm pancake is lovely but it's a little tricky to pull focus with on portrait shots without an HDMI monitor. And it means the firmware update for the VG10 will be out, which is going to make the cam even better :)

  • it seems like an amazing camera, i dont see what is so wrong with it... some one wanna tell me exactly what is so bad about it?

  • @CreationsPure there are some tech issues - occasionally you get weird wavy lines on patterns. But then normal HD camcorders, even pro ones, all have their own specific tech issues ranging from Jello to Rolling Shutter. And the truth is that 99.9% of people will never notice any of this stuff. For the .1% that do, it's simply a case of understanding the limitations of your kit and working within them.

  • @hdcw2000bc normal for camcorders ?? lol you are sooo clueless, that is NOT normal it is called moire and aliasing, this nex10, and DSLR camera are the worst for it, if you are going to give advise, learn what you are talking about first !

  • @robblac 1. I operate for a living.

    2. CMOS and CCD cameras have their own visual artifacting issues.

    3. Your videos demonstrate a financial relationship with SGPro. Previously lens adaptors like theirs were the only way to achieve shallow DoF on low end kit, but it caused vignetting, lost half a stop of light and was inconvenient. I'd take a little moire and antialiasing over that any day even if it was as bad as you say it is. Which, honestly, it really isn't.

  • Musiic is from garage band

  • This camera is CRAP !!!

I could have forgiven no zoom, I could have forgiven the weird weight imballance,

I could have forgiven no remote, but the TERRIBLE moire and aliasing is unforgivable !! its just as bad as a DSLR ! utter shit ! had to send it back :I

  • @robblac wait theres no zoom?! wtf?

and whats moire and aliasing (im kinda new to this lol)

  • @BrokenSafetyScissors its a hoorible pattern you can see on certain objects and material, like a wavy patern.. most undesirable..

  • Comment removed

  • amazing

  • test

  • how do you guys get such nice music soundtracks?

  • i really enjoyed this

  • CANON FTW!

  • Педрила какой то!

  • Mighttt be getting this. AMAZING focus controls!

  • 60i? gay -_- I think I'd rather grab the 7D

  • @TheHappiFellahs yeah 60i is fail for the price of this camera , I'd rather go with the JVC GY-HM100U which shoots 1920 x 1080 (1080p24/25/30, 1080i)

  • hello i have a question i wanna buy a prfesional camcorder , can you tell me what camera is better? panasonic HMC40 or Sony NEX-VG10 AVCHD E-Mount Lens Camcorder , thanks

  • Has it lanc connection or AV/R? Is it canon lenses full compatible? Does it have 24p or 25p? Does it have zoom button?

If not I think it is too expensive for do the same as canon 7d.

  • This is one of the most stupid cameras on the market. Why pay so much for few lenses, a tiny sensor and fixed 60i? I would probably invest in a Canon T2i or the new Canon 60D and buy more lenses than buy this crap.

  • @davcoolbeans well actually we just got our 2nd T2i today, but we're looking at this for when we want to shoot anything over 10 minutes like doc work and some reality stuff we're working on. So I wouldn't call it crap. It's not made to compete with vDSLRs. Filmmakers have been pushing, pulling and stretching equipment beyond their stated uses for the 10 years I've been in the game, but seems like everyone is mad when new cams don't do what they want it to do, not what it's supposed to do.

  • @TimeKoder13 hey a camera with interchangable lens cant be a bad thing. and think about it too, if you did get the lens scratched or cracked it would be easy to jsut put a new one on. and no one can talk shit about the quality. its amazing. even nat geo uses the Nex.

  • One question. This camera is going to be better than sony xr 550? or more applications missing? example. slow motion, nigthshot.ect

  • lol this guys a fooL!! haha

  • except for the sound it is basically a nex-5

  • i love the end credit. at indonesia we call "WAYANG"

  • do you color your shoot?

  • daje Leo!!!

  • I'm having a love affair with Sony stuff,. I shot the latest video on YT's learnfootballtv (Phil and Marcus talk about being a professional) last night on a CX550VE, fully zoomed across a soccer pitch and it was crystal clear.. This.. struggling to suspend my excitement, I can dump the heavy vibrating DOF :D

  • すばらしい!! ムービーだと思います。

    これ見ると 新たなムービーの夜明けを

    感じざる得ません。

  • this camera is pretty much god

  • Very nice camera, hopefully will be able to purchase one in the future! I currently have a Sony Handycam and am happy with it, but I'm looking to buy something of professional grade...

If you wouldn't mind me asking, what type of lens was used in the video, particularly in the shots around

    0:18-0:20

    0:35

    1:23-1:40

    and 2:18?

    Thanks very much in advance!

  • @EggChops

Actually... Scratch that last question.. maybe it'd be easier to answer this: Which of these clips was shot with the standard 18-200mm lens? Once again, I would greatly appreciate your response!

  • Is it water proof?

  • How much is it

  • i know this is revolutionary new product but i just can see the awfulness of the quality loss in some footage despite its dof accuracy covering up..theres a slight tear in pixels/color...i just dont like..or maybe its just the format before you upload?? anyway...compare to genesis or red's mysterium x..this cant even hold a candle..only the price fits it...and we just continude being a consumer...

  • Who wants to film all day using an SLR. I'd rather film with a comfortable, purpose buit camcorder.

  • Cameras are usually let down by their stock lens, to keep the price down, and I suspect that when fitted with a sharper more expensive lens the NEX-VG10 will set the new benchmark. For now, low light performance looks decent and focusing looks smooth. I am dying to get my hands on one.

  • Does this shoot in 24 frames per second or at least 30?

  • @toms900 I suspect it will shoot in a variety of FPS like 24 30 and 60 but I don't think it would to 60 fps at 1080p but it might.

  • @toms900 It only shoots 60i

  • @FindMeInTheH the 60i is a wrapper, it is 1080p30, but since 30p is not an official standard the format says 1080i60. But every capable player will run it is a 1080p 30 frames file

  • @FindMeInTheH Actually, in shoots in 30p, its just in a 60i wrapper. Go to the website it's in the specs.

  • @FindMeInTheH it shoots 30p wrapped in a 60i container in ntsc countries and 25p warpped in a 50i container in pal countries

  • @FindMeInTheH It shoots 30p in the states and 25p in PAL land. Then it puts that progressive footage in an interlaced wrapper that most editing programs will ignore and thankfully just recognise as progressive.

  • @toms900 you can deinterlace footage to make it progressive 25p pal or 30p ntsc or you can change to 24 frames in post. Final cut pro, sony vegas, motion, compressor adobe premier pro. its no big deal to change frame rates.

  • @SonyHC3 ya, i know how to do that, but after i do the program takes longer to process the video. So im just going to get the t2i this week.

  • Super. Lovely movie. Let's hope for Panasonic GH1 owners, either the micro4/3 lenses will fit this camcorder or that the micro 4/3 manufacturers come with an answer. I already started saving for this cam. I might switchback to Sony...

  • Having said all that my Canon request list is obvious

    More lenses with IS

    Longer shooting times

    Manual audio gain controls

… and fix the HDMI out live preview mode so its full HD

  • From what I see here, I see no reason to get this camera over my Canon T2i. However in this case is more that just how it stacks up against DSLRs image quality wise. Its the form factor & the ability to shoot long contiguous clips like in event situations. Having a headphone jack and (im sure) what will most certainly be manual audio gain controls a plus. If SONY makes nice prime lenses for this that have Image stabilization that would also compelling.

  • @CMOORE5511 You are right these sony handycams suck ass. trust me i have one and a T2i, Canon sensor OWNS! Sony has a teeeeeeeny weeeeeeeny chip that sucks. it is probably not even half the size.

  • @geetarRamblin chip half the size!!! what the!! watch the video on it and see it has the same size sensor as the 7D and red one camera and film cameras! your a tv cameraman my ass!! what do tv station use for cameras? SONY and PANASONIC!! canon dont even make professional tv cameras or film cameras!! this camera will blow your tenny weeny t2i out of the water moron!!!

  • @SonyHC3 you angry lil kid relax. I never said the Tv station a canon camera you dimwit. READ READ READ, THEN speak. Don't be so angry LMAO. This is why you are always wrong, you do not READ.

  • @geetarRamblin i did read you dumb ass inbred skate dick!!! yes you didn't say the tv station had a canon camera. my point exactly!!! canon has never and never will make a professional broadcast or film camera!!! you need to read and get off the fucking pot you skate dick!! face facts canon is for amateurs and sony for professionals!!! period! read your own comments carefully before the pot starts talking!!

  • @SonyHC3 I just picture some pre-teen punching his keyboard as he typed that comment. LMAO. angry kid.

  • Comment removed

  • @geetarRamblin i just imagine some lazy pot head skate dick type that comment. face facts sony wins the battle against canon again! sony handyams come with pro Zeiss lens what does canon have L series shit. please dont bother with your next comment just crawl under a rock and take your T2i with you. please do all of us a favor. Carl Zeiss, Nikon, Cooke, panavision, sony, are all lenses pro film makers use. idont see canon in that line up cause its for amateurs!! nough said. :)

  • @SonyHC3 Angry angry teen angst. LMAO get a life kid.

  • @geetarRamblin cool bro, i will get a life. What do you think should i purchase this camera (sonyhexvg10) or the sony ex1? :)

  • @SonyHC3 ex1 is garbage, 7vu is the shit.

  • @geetarRamblin what is 7vu bro? is that sony z7?

  • @SonyHC3 Yes I meant the z7, even the z5 is better. I am not fond of the ex-1 at all used it many times.

  • @geetarRamblin is the z7picture quality close if not the same as ex1? i dont care much about the rest. do you think the canon 7d picture is better quality than z7. would very much appriciate your thoughts on this one. Cheers

  • @SonyHC3 the 7d quality is much better. I shoot wedding with the z7 and short films and with the 7d and 5d. DOF is much better obviously with the DSLRs but the colors and sharpness are better as well. the ONLY reason i shoot with the z7 is because i can record for long amounts of time (DSLRs can only shoot for 10 minutes at a time before they overheat), and the z7 has AF and zoom while shooting.

  • @SonyHC3 Uh. You do understand you could get an adapter for Carl Zeiss Film Lenses right? I use my 7D both for stills and video, it works well with my "L" Lens. Or my sigma 50f/1.4. the 7D isn't specifically built for video ,it just has the added benefit.

  • @SonyHC3 And also, Many TV shows like House, Saturday Night Live, and this other one, are all now Using the Canon 7D and even the 5D to film? Of course with special zeiss lenses built for the canon mount, right? The 5D offers a full frame sensor, way larger than RED, Or any other camcorder in the price range. Now... If you were smart enough to learn, there wouldn't be an need for an argument.

This camcorder uses an APS-C Sensor, and I'm actually comtemplating about picking one up.

  • is this cam better then the sony hdr fx7?

  • amazing quality.

    i wanna get this camera.

    lmao@ 4:04

  • they say this camera may be better than the canon 7D, I say BS. I see blown out white all over this video.

  • @geetarRamblin I will have to see I have the 7D , AND Two 5D's mainly used for stills I use my EX1 an EX3 for vids. I need to take the time to learn the VID function with the 5D. I WILL PROB WAIT FOR A PRO VERSION TO COME OUT.

  • @FindMeInTheH check out; 'Adrift' on youtube filmed with 5D\ and 7D,

  • @FindMeInTheH check out the JVC GY-HM100U , a lil more expensive than this sony but it shoots 1920 x 1080 (1080p24/25/30, 1080i) which is super super awesome which is the sale point for me right there !!

  • @geetarRamblin of course better than 7D and 5D!! no jello crap no artifacts no aliasing no smearing no ghosting no dropped frames crap no over heating no limited clip duration. True clear crisp video image! proper avchd not some shitty H.264 heavily compressed shit!! awesome stereo dolby digital sound recording!! APSC HD sensor and so many sony lenses to use!!! this is Sony saying to canon and nikon stop making crappy video with DSLR cameras. Sony world leaders!! and take that RED scarlet!!

  • @SonyHC3 you to read more about cameras, any slr sensor blows away your rinky dink chip, plus you don't even have manual ISO. Learn then speak that Sony cam is a gimmick, but have fun with it.

  • @geetarRamblin somebody's feelings are hurt. you need to read more cause it has full manual control. just face facts Sony just make better products than canon! haha

  • @SonyHC3 I don't like to argue with uneducated pre-teens. Get a life, and get a real camera. Your lil sony cam sucks. I have it too dumbass, I know first hand that the t2i rips it a new asshole. Like I said before, the canon senor TRUMPS that rinky dink piece of aluminum foil that Sony calls a chip. I know because I have them both, and I am a cameraman for a TV station. Now go back to your grade school media arts class, and one day you can have this knowledge. :0

  • @SonyHC3 ...but bullshitty interlaced videolook at this silly 60f/sec. and this ugly blown out part in the lights. H.264 is in fact the basic of AVC-HD-Compression. stereo is ok, but 5.1 is only a gimmick.

  • @geetarRamblin Much better than the 7D my friend, trust me. This is a dedicated video recorder, unlike the 7D. I love my 7D, but i'm only going to beat this thing when it comes to actual photography.

  • @bradtwo i agree. people don't realize how good this camera is going to be.

  • @geetarRamblin They purposely did that I presume. It has full manual controls, and well, you can control any aspect. Its sorta like the 7D, or 5D, but just with better video capabilitys

  • @Purepromedia On the Sony site for this camera it says, manual ISO is only available in picture mode, it says in video mode it remains auto. Now that sucks ass, that means if it is dark your ISO is going to kick way up in auto mode and give all that horrid grain. Am I right?

  • @geetarRamblin Fuck. Though sony advertised the ability to manually control the irs, shutter, and also ISO. :/ At least i thought they did.,

  • @geetarRamblin At the end of the day it's just a glorified nex-5, uses the same hardware as the nex-5, so don't expect picture quality to be anything as good as it's looks.

    But damn it looks good.

  • @geetarRamblin this cant even record in cinematic 24fps

  • @candywrapp one thing sony does well, is overhype its garbage.

  • funny how sony use Bali for VG10 showcase, but indonesia is likely among the last country to receive this product
