The American Religious Identification Survey says otherwise. The population of Catholics in many states esp. in the North East has sharply declined and the modest increases in the southern states was mostly due to immigration, not 'bouncing babies'. The same study shows that the secular pop. is the only group that has increased in numbers in every state. Oops, I guess you forgot to consider the FACTS!

It's true - but the Catholics that remain are very fertile - with bouncing babies. So in other words - true Catholics increase - secularised Catholics decrease. Secularists increase by secularised Catholics joining the fold - not by birthrates. So in the long term you don't have a future. The stats show that lots of self proclaimed Catholics deconvert later in life and you also assume that all these 'bouncing babies' will remain Catholic when the real world would tell you otherwise. I can readily admit that Catholicism is strong in numbers and will be for a long time but you delude yourself about its growth rate.

Certainly not - but I am saying he is pro Islamic. It seems the fate of Islamists occupy his mind more than the fate of Americans. That is the general impression he gives. Very few true Catholics deconvert - they love Catholicism too much. Many older Catholics leave - but they were hardly Catholic in the first place. What we need are Catholics who will support a CATHOLIC STATE rather than a secular state!

@amaqula I think that you need to realize that a secular state protects religious institutions, especially ones such as the Catholic Church. In a secular state, you are protected to worship as you please, while in a theocracy, the state dictates how you should worship. Do you really prefer the latter????

One of the main reasons why religion has grown and thrived in the U.S. is because of the religious freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution, which derives from a separation of church and state.

Obviously, you have never been to Iraq (at least before the US invasion brought in countless Islamic terrorists from Iran and Saudi Arabia) or Lebanon. Women in Iraq never needed to wear "Islamic dress." Many Muslims of course chose to, but no Christians did. Only now because of the foreign terrorists do women do so in fear. Those who left Islam were not too common, but as long as they weren't in the Shi'a South (crazy land), they were fine.
