For all we know, this demonstration could have saved someones life. I doubt any of those kids will mess with a rattler after seeing this.
This was intended to educate our children but alas you crybabies would rather our children walk up and grab these snakes in their back yard and lose a body part or die of massive internal damage and blame our kids or would you prefer they be like my mother and aunts and go after every snake they see with a shovel or lawnmower?
If you can come up with a better "not cruel" form of education for our children then put up or seriously shut up.

According to what I've read, diamondbacks are significantly more aggressive than other rattlers. This means that their strikes are more likely to come without warning, and will be venomous.
