Im a huge Kobe fan...but based on achievements, not just rings but the first team selections, scoring titles, mvp's etc..hands down without a doubt MJ is better. But Kobe has done well to brush off the "wannabe Mike" tag to create his own legacy. I think one thing Kobe has over MJ is his ability to hit tough contested shots. Kobe and probably Dirk Nowitzki are the greatest at doing that. MJ was the best at everything else...

Your argument is weak, you're saying Kobe is better because he had a wider variety of skills? What is wrong with repetitiveness? If repeating that post-up fadeaway because it's unstoppable (like the sky-hook), why would Jordan need to fix something that's not broken? if Kobe can shoot from half-court more consistently than Jordan that still would not mean he's a better player, it's about how effectively and how efficient you are, and also how CONSISTENT.
Being the better player means being able to consistently put up superior results, if Kobe could not master what he already had to the degree that MJ did how would that make him better quality wise? Im a huge Kobe fan...but based on achievements, not just rings but the first team selections, scoring titles, mvp's etc..hands down without a doubt MJ is better. But Kobe has done well to brush off the "wannabe Mike" tag to create his own legacy. I think one thing Kobe has over MJ is his ability to hit tough contested shots. Kobe and probably Dirk Nowitzki are the greatest at doing that. MJ was the best at everything else...

Correct me if i'm wrong, Kobe's 3/5 rings were because of shaq, SHAQ was the guy who lead them in those championship runs, yes kobe's game against the pacers when shaq fouled out was clutch but unlike jordan's. Kobe=40,Assist MJ=428, Kobe =441. 3point % Kobe =361 , MJ =352 , FG% MJ =495 , Kobe =459 , Points Kobe= 2323 , MJ= 2541. Now theres a few stats there that kobe edges MJ such as 3point and assist not by much i might add thats for 1 season if you look at career stats which they both to date have played 15 years MJ stats are far greater

@Mattixxg its no secret mj's accomplishments outweigh kobes. my point was that kobe has attained a higher skill level. i dont compare individual performances. they both have their share. in basketball there is a lot of middle ground to cover. when u say mj is better, i ask why, and what at? i expect the same. i know what i think kobe is better at, and what mj is better at. if u just look at #s u have a lot to catch up on. if u want to argue the eras or defense i will shut u down though.
