I was too cheap to buy this game when it came out, so I played the pirated (& ripped) version which didn't have this intro. It was only 26 MB install, which was even a bit small for it's time (or maybe I'm thinking of GTA 1's size)

OK good game, but where are the awesome police car chases, the extremely aggressive gang-members, the policemen that kill you in one touch, the tanks that shoot at you on as soon as they see you, the soldiers that use bazookas, and of course where is the dark humour and the EPIC guy who says stuff like " Kiiiiill Frenzy"!!

@elpalaa To be honest, it does have a really cool intro, but the game is nothing special when you had games like Driver and Driver 2 in full 3D.. it may be a Grand Theft Auto game, but that doesn't make it great. GTA only became a household name when GTA III came out in '01.

When I was just 6 years old, I would play Grand Theft Auto 2 on my PlayStation and don't know how to let Claude Speed reach his dreams... Anyway, first time I played it, I didn't know where it was shot. Now I do. From what I see as part of the first translation, there is the World Trade Center, so Rockstar must've done the shooting in New York City.
