  • very romantic a new singer to me. beautiful arrangement in the minor key operatic style. rated highest 11+. great deep minor key and great sustaining with best voice tone and his range is fabulous. never heard such a great high tenor with great power. found by mistake to my enjoyment thank you poster. this is a thrilling arrangement fabulous voice of new singer jan kiepura is thrilling. any more of jan singing english.??? I want more!!!!

  • I have uploaded the front cover of the sheet music for Tell Me Tonight. Incidentally Richard Tauber's grave at Brompton Cemetery, London regularly has fresh flowers placed upon it.

  • Lanza's version is my favourite but I'm biased; I love Lanza. Then again, this is simply amazing....

  • @ronaldo190172 Have you heard the Richard Crooks version? Thats my favourite. Though Lanza had an incredibly powerful voice.

  • @baghend

Hi mate, just listened to it and yes, very nice indeed. Thanks for pointing it out

  • @ronaldo190172 Yes- thanks for replying. I'm Canadian, but Crooks was an American tenor very popular in the 1930's- popular recordings and a long time favourite at the Metropolitan opera in N.Y. city. He had a long running radio programme (Voice of Firestone) and wisely made many recordings of the popular songs of the day. Wonderfuil voice, and an earlier generation than Lanza. I don't know music but i know what i like- and its sad that so many of these greats are forgotten-thanks for utube

  • @ronaldo190172 further- check out Crooks recording of "For You Alone"- , and" Song of Songs" and make allowances for the recording techniques of the early 1930's.

Are you Aussie or Kiwi? Nice to meet someone who appreciates real talent, Lanza, Crooks and all the rest. Is it just me or does there seem little real and lasting talent today- who will still be listened to in 80 years, like Richard Crooks or 50 years like Mario Lanza?

  • @baghend Just a reminder that I have posted many Richard Crooks recordings on one of my other channels, "ILoveJenni47". And yes, the talent today is nothing compared to the talent of yesteryear.

  • @TheLimePopsicle ahh, sorry- you know him well then. And thanks for posting Crooks. And I agreee with your comment about today's lack of any real lasting talent. Not only in performing, but lyric and music writing as well. Perhaps its just the times, and we're simply old dinosaurs, sentimental and out of touch. But I know in my heart that, 100 years from now (if we're still here) Lanza and Crooks and Tauber, and Pavarotti and Bjoerling and many others will still be played.

  • @baghend Definitely, those great singers will never die out wherever great music is still enjoyed. By the way, I'm 33 so it's not a matter of being older, just of having good taste in music! :)

  • As long as people sing this will be loved

  • this song was composed by mischa spolansky the russian born pianist and composer for jan kiepura in the 1932 film musical tell me tonight what a lovely voice thank you!!!

  • What a voice! Outstanding!

  • Beautiful. Thank you.

  • You're welcome!
