  • What is the Type of this Air Raid Siren! I like the sound! :) How much Does it cost?

  • i thought it stopped at 0:38

  • Sounds a little like a V6 engine on windup.

  • how large the diameter of sirens ?

  • Sounds like theres a fair bit of resistance within the motor- it winds down just a little too quick...

By the way, I found a nice example of a Castle Castings on the old water tower at Former RAF West Raynham. I'm persuading them to preserve it!

  • Nice, nice, nice :D

  • Looks like a engine from star wars or something

  • may i barrow please we have a few B-17 problames here

  • dont your neibors think thats a little, loud?

  • It's not turning fast enough.

  • Damn, I hope you have that bad boy anchored down pretty well. Or it's going to take off like an airplane.

  • 0:0:0:0:13 ur right

  • hi sirs. our company just bought one of these. a japanese brand hayagi, are these sirens weatherproof? they are installed outdoors without housing or anything against from rains and dust?

  • what are these sirens for air raids what is a carter

  • yes and it's the company that made the siren (i think)

  • Carter air raid sirens are generally considered the quintessential WWII-era air raid siren. They were used extensively across Europe, especially in England.

  • @seawind0721

Except in Germany and Eastern Europe, where you almost never see them.

  • very cool :)

  • just like a stuka siren, at 0:13 xD

Or like a bomber starting up

  • nice sound of the carter, we love those sirens

  • Bet your neighbour loves you!

  • want :(

  • nice one! how many dB (decibel) is that?

  • Hi

on the nearly full speed run it is 140db

  • @crownhill

Is that at 100feet (30 meters)?

  • Brilliant, thanx for showing us that. I remember back when I was a kid at school, we had a carter siren on the fire station tower -around the 1980 - 85 time when we thought were were all gonna be vapourised by the Russians. They used to test it every so often.

  • Sounds Sweet!

  • kickass siren! i wonder if these can be shipped here to the us?

  • It can vary between anything up to £100 or £1000

depending who wants one badly enough.

On the day who knows as these are very rare now.

  • Nice, on what price does one good quality of these run for?

  • Congratulations!

But I would NEVER have risked this if moisture was in the coils. What is normal voltage this is to run on?

    240?, 480? Thank you,

  • Hi Generally old three phase or any motor that hasnt been run for a while does retain a certain amount of moisture and it did show some resistance.

It was one of those circumstances were you take a chance and run it and usually it will start to dry out. This Did and ended up with 0.1 M resistance, and getting dryer The Motor is realy balanced and Max volted is 400 although 300 did the job.

  • I'd say take a dare and go higher than 400 volts.

  • Fantastic...you've done a great job on the restoration!

  • Many thanks

  • Awesome! Were you covering your ears?

  • Total ear coverage dan but still made my ears ring.
