hi sirs. our company just bought one of these. a japanese brand hayagi, are these sirens weatherproof? they are installed outdoors without housing or anything against from rains and dust?
Carter air raid sirens are generally considered the quintessential WWII-era air raid siren. They were used extensively across Europe, especially in England.
Brilliant, thanx for showing us that. I remember back when I was a kid at school, we had a carter siren on the fire station tower -around the 1980 - 85 time when we thought were were all gonna be vapourised by the Russians. They used to test it every so often.
Hi Generally old three phase or any motor that hasnt been run for a while does retain a certain amount of moisture and it did show some resistance.
It was one of those circumstances were you take a chance and run it and usually it will start to dry out. This Did and ended up with 0.1 M resistance, and getting dryer The Motor is realy balanced and Max volted is 400 although 300 did the job.
What is the Type of this Air Raid Siren! I like the sound! :) How much Does it cost?

how large the diameter of sirens ?

Sounds like theres a fair bit of resistance within the motor- it winds down just a little too quick...
By the way, I found a nice example of a Castle Castings on the old water tower at Former RAF West Raynham. I'm persuading them to preserve it!

kickass siren! i wonder if these can be shipped here to the us?
MaryStewart 4 years ago
It can vary between anything up to £100 or £1000
depending who wants one badly enough.
On the day who knows as these are very rare now.

Nice, on what price does one good quality of these run for?
vaultmantk 4 years ago
Congratulations!
But I would NEVER have risked this if moisture was in the coils. What is normal voltage this is to run on?
240?, 480? Thank you,

I'd say take a dare and go higher than 400 volts.
