  • WTF?! The crowd was so silent!? I'd cry out loud for bis!

  • My apologies to vf74tomcat and kossistheboss, but I didn't post this video for trash talking. I'm also not trying to censor but this kind of thing tends to get blown way out of proportion and I find it's better to end it sooner than later. Just as an FYI, vf74 has come around on King's X. Let's ENCOURAGE, not ALIENATE! Peace and King's X...

  • @noblefreecloud Just trying to end what someone else started. I'll respect your editing as this is your video posting. Peace!

  • @noblefreecloud You should change that comment to:

Arguing over the internet is like running in the special olympics.

Even if you win, you're still retarded.

  • Freakin awesome!!!

  • @vf74tomcat Dude, you've done more than any defender of one band can hope for, and that's give them a chance. I respect the hell out of you for that. All I can ask for is that you don't get on the hate parade again. We each are entitled to our own opinion, and when arguing about it (especially about music) is just pretty retarded.

I would be genuinely curious to know what bands you are a fan of.

  • Who cares about some 13 year old kid's comments ... it's just great to see this stuff on the tube

  • Mediocre at best. A middle of the road band with no mainstream hits to their credit. I know people are going to respond to this and I don't care. You will say things like "they aren't sellouts" etc. Bands who "sell out" are the ones who make the $. Popular bands are popular for a reason, more people like them! A bands talent is measured in popularity. Sorry, thats just the way it is. While they may have decent musical talent their songwriting and vocals are lacking. Doug can't sing!!!

  • @vf74tomcat Search "Nuno Bettencourt Gives King's X Some Love"

I tend to value and trust Nuno's opinion a little more than I do yours but thanks for sharing anyway!

  • @vf74tomcat Popularity, eh? So, by your logic, Britney Spears is a musical genius, organized religion is correct, and McDonald's is the best food ever made?

  • @Phynhas While Britney is not a musical genius, her marketing team is. Organized religion is too broad a catagory, you need to be specific. Personally I'm agnostic, as is most of the world. God is unknowable. There can be no real proof until death. So agnosticism is correct. Lastly, McDonalds is the greatest food ever made! (Except for the salads, going to McDonalds for a salad is like going to a hooker for a hug.) Kings X is still mediocre! I WIN!!!

  • @vf74tomcat I've been thinking about your comments and have gone from one spectrum to the other but the outcome is always the same... either you are musically illiterate or not very intelligent. Either way, please take your Justin Beiber, Taylor Swift, and McDonald's cheeseburgers and go push them on some other video forum. Your negativity is not going to find much support here. Best wishes!

  • @noblefreecloud Far from musically illiterate or unintelligent. I'm sure I could find people on here who like to listen to Dimmu Borgir, that doesn't mean they're good. Musical taste is subjective. The point I was trying to make is popular bands appeal to a wider audience and therefore make more $. King's X is a mediocre band who, while getting critical praise, barely break into the Billboard top 100.Its called the music BUSINESS for a reason! BTW Doug STILL can't sing!!

  • @vf74tomcat please don't equate popular bands to equalling financial success. I know many successful acts who have gold records who are broke or living with their mom when they get off the road. Mediocre is your opinion about Kings X, which seems absolutely foolish, but it's your opinion and i'll respect it. However, I disagree about your statement about the music business. King's X makes a living from touring, they are a successful business with a good management team in NJ.

  • @kossistheboss How bands spend or invest their money is not the issue here. All I'm trying to say is this is a niche band and not popular. True they have a fan base and those people will tell me they are popular. My point is they are a middle of the road band, doing enough to support themselves (very well, I assume) but, still not up there with (your choices here) Prince, Zeppelin, Metallica and Miles Davis. All very good choices I must say.

  • @kossistheboss Continuation from my previous post....

I'll respect your opinion as well. Tell me what I should be listening to so that I might change my mind about this band. So far I've not been too impressed. Musically they seem alright but, vocally I feel Doug can't sing. Let me know. BTW Merry Christmas!

  • @vf74tomcat Kings X have been on the crest of popular, see 1994 Dogman at Woodstock. Doug's voice is full of soul, and unique, in the same manner as Angelo Moore/ Fishbone, Corey Glover Living Colour or Sly Stone.. Go listen to Gretchen Goes to Nebraska.. To me they were the gateway to Jellyfish, 24-7 Spyz, XTC, Bob Mould, and other Beatle's harmony, heavy groove bands. Maybe it's just a you had to be there kinda band. Either way, Merry Christmas.. Cheers.

  • @vf74tomcat Merry Christmas to you as well. You keeping an open mind about Dug and this band is far more than any of us could ask for. Most people would just blather their opinion and disappear. This song is the one that introduced me to Kings'x and absolutely blew my doors off. Granted I was stoned out of my gourd and he had to hit rewind about three times but after that man... It was musical bliss. I'd found the band that I had longed for. Not hair and not thrash... just King's X

  • @noblefreecloud The song is "Out of the Silent Planet"... search that. The vocals won't dissapoint.

  • @vf74tomcat Got 5 minutes? Try this one as well... I think this pretty well proves their chops live. Search "King's X - It's Love 1992". If you come back to me after watching that 5 minute video and tell me they have no talent and Dug can't sing I'll never argue with you again! :)

  • @noblefreecloud I listened and found it to be much better than this song, in my opinion. I especially liked the guitar solo near the end, very well constructed. All in all, I'll give them a chance and download Gretchen to my ipod. Starting to grow on me!

  • @vf74tomcat Your comment caves in on itself, saying that this band is mediocre is ok, thats your opinion and you are entitled to an opinion but to back up that opinion you provide shit especially your "popular bands are popular for a reason" comment which is wrong, bands today live and die at the mercy of record companies, and if they want you to succeed you will succeed no matter how crappy you are and if they want you to fail you will fail no matter how good you are!

  • @vf74tomcat Incredible insight. Who said anything about them selling out or not selling out? The band is making a living off recording and touring, they seem to like what they do, their fans love them, so who cares. FYI, I put Gretchen Goes to Nebraska up with Purple Rain, Led Zep 4, Master of Puppets, and Bitches Brew. It's all relative, popiular does'nt pay the mortgage anyway. Just saying.

  • @vf74tomcat This is how trolling is done, folks. Read and learn.

  • Dogman wasn't one of their best efforts?! Complain...so much easier.

  • I challenge any guitar player to watch Ty's solo without getting a massive boner.

  • Fucking Kings X! Man this band is truely one of the greatest pure rock bands ever! Just a great Fucking band man!

  • One of many amazing tunes from a freakin amazing band!

  • I wish I knew of these guys in the 90's. I didnt know of them until 2003 when a friend of mine "Blew MY Mind" with Dogman. He was a longtime fan since Gretchen.

  • Any time I need musical inspiration, all I have to do is listen to King`s X

  • doug is the best left hand bassist

  • Love this band and I thought Dogman was going to be their "Superuknown".Alas,it wasn't to be and I'll never understand why this band never blew big...maybe it's better that way.

  • Dogman had the cutest puppy on the cover.

  • can't believe I've only just started listening to this band.

I've been blown away by this track, thanks for posting it up.

  • dude, saw bass player's hair and thought I was looking at Maynard

  • @rushfan992 lol :) maynard's my favorite. i'm a giant tool/apc fan

  • Who can listen to this without singing along?

    Not me!

  • Ive been playing guitar for 30 years;I dont know how anybody gets that good.....

  • The energy with which Jerry Gaskill is hitting his drums on such a slow tempo song is a pleasure to watch.

  • 1:00 feedback much???

  • @999manman I know right. It's probably Jerry's vocal mic. Funny thing is that there's a live Galactic Cowboys version of You Make Me Smile from San Francisco here on youtube; and Alan's mic feedbacks on him too a bit.

  • @centrocampista

I realize it's a year later but you should listen to everythings they've written. They can't make a sucky song. The earliest stuff is the most visionary and amazing. Sonically it cannot and will not be beaten. It takes you to another place...if you are capable of seeing.

  • @dbjames777 Amen to that- I completely am into their later stuff too, like Mr. Bulbous and Dougs Poundhound albums. Killer stuff!

  • growing up playing guitar ty tabor was always one of my favorites. He is so original.

both his rhythms and his solos are so taste and different

  • Incredible song, incredible band.

    KX4EVA-4EVAKX

  • Simply brilliant.

  • I NEVER get tired of this video. This song has the best guitar solo in the History of music and mankind. This recording should be preserved for the next generations of musicians in the upcoming centuries!

BTW does anyone know what the hell is that samll thing ? (5:16)

Hey everyone let's make a toast for King's X! glub glub glub glub aaaaaahh (beer in the chin)

  • @AlanLeviYYZ That's an ebow. You hold it over any particular string, and since it's a magnet type thing, gives you infinite sustain. So, u can play w/ur fretting hand w/out picking, giving it that smooth, almost violin sound. There's a pickup that was made (ebay now) that does the same thing. Single coil, BUT, it has a switch, that can make the note you're playing be that note, or 1 octave above, or below. 3 way switch. It's called a sustainiac.

  • @vonvlad Thanks buddy! I'm pretty interested in that little thing, "ebow"... and --"sustainiac", uh? Oh I need to read more about it. Thanks!!!

  • Speechless. They kinda lost me on FHL cd, but still as a guitar player meself, love Ty, but Dougs voice is what sends the chills down my spine. Truly from deep down.

  • There is no better guitar player than Ty Tabor, period. People can throw names like Holdsworth, Van Halen etc etc. but no one plays with the tone of this guy and his licks are just out of this world. Never sloppy always tight. Plus he's a super nice and down to earth guy in person!

  • @kingsxfannyc I agree completely. In terms of moving me, no one comes close. Of course, I love guys like Holdsworth and Van Halen, but Ty Tabor's playing is haunting and ethereal.

  • This is one of the best rock ballad guitar solos i've seen in a long time! Superb!

  • this is just so beautiful

  • NICE vid!

  • kings x rules

  • Get them ALL!

  • ahead of time, ungewöhnliche Musik

  • We need more live versions of this song!

  • i was at this concert front row maken out with 2 hot chicks between them holding joints to my mouth ahh what a night

  • LIAR

  • e-bow power!

  • I can never get enough of Kings X. There music always takes me back to the 90's when music was good.

  • Thanks for the video. I'm in tears here as this is such old school memories. Have it on my IPOD now.

  • This is one of my all time favourite songs from one of the best bands in the world. Awesome guitar solo on record and live with great vocals.

  • watch out bro, they (the band) just deleted all my videos, and I have better than this.. they are now hypocrites.

  • yea you must be a hypocrite if youre in the music business to make money and be successful in life. ppl like you are so full of shit. we're all not here specifically for your pleasure. if you take a closer look, you may just find the hypocrite is you.

  • these guys are personal friends of mine! they didnt delete the videos! it was the record company! jackass!

  • Man i love this track ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • I agree with ninthmark. THE most underrated bands on the (Silent) Planet. I also agree with zombieguitar93. These guuys should have been a lot bigger. But they're still around and that's what really truly matters, right?

  • I think over exposure kills it..kinda good this way..know what I mean...

  • The most underrated band on the planet.

  • 59 is the new 29!!!

  • Ty's best tone.

  • I was absolutely shocked when I looked up Doug's biography and saw his birthday! His stage presence, ability, drive, and voice have held up so well over the years!

When I met him he seemed at least 15 years younger! I honestly can't believe it!

  • What a great song by an awesome band. Dogman was touted as not one of their best efforts but I still thought it was a good cd. King's X is so talented.

  • I agree. Dogman is one of my favorite King's X cd's. Great melodies, great grooves, lots of emotion, I love it....

  • This is a great song by one of the best bands in the world. However, I don't think that Ty Tabor was around long before Joe Satriani. Satriani started teaching guitar back in the late 70's in Berkley, CA. Some of his students include Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, Larry LaLonde and Alex Skolnick. His Surfing With the Alien album was released in 1987 which was kind of his big break.

  • I have a true story to tell.

Back in '94, my younger brother fell into jail. His sentence was14 tears.

Meanwhile, as I was working comfortably in front of a computer, one day I listened to this song. The melody and the lyrics made me remember my brothers condition and it moved me to tears. I felt compelled right there to pray for him.

I know God heard my heartfelt plea, among others, because sometime later, he was granted parole.

So every time I hear this song I remember that blessing

  • God bless you and all your family.

    Faith, hope, love from SouthAmerica.

  • It's such a sin these guys never made it bigger.

  • Great song, great band

    A fan from France

  • This, ladies and gents, is how Rock & Roll was meant to be played.

  • One of the best songs they ever did.

  • Absolutely perfect song!

  • i get goose bumps everytime i hear this song

  • fuckin epic solo

  • doug pinnock fuckin' rocks...go x go!

  • This must be the best guitar solo in History. I can't believe it, such power, such passion...

  • ty tabor for pres!!! he took lessons off satriani

  • ty tabor was around long before satriani

  • Fucking Amazing Band. Huge Riffs and special Melody feeling!

    100 Stars

  • These guys are so great at what they do.. exceptional in so many ways... a fan for life!

  • Never understood why Dogman continued to get skipped as one of the best albums during the grunge movement. One of the best albums of the 90's and by King's X.

  • True, soo true!

  • @thegougeman, King's X is the world's most underrated band and people don't give them any credit.

  • After listening to this a few times I must be in full agreeance about those drums....they are simlpy amazing on this song!!!! PEACE!!!

  • Thanx Mun7001 DONE !!!

  • great.where are ciggs..???

    in the kitchen.and beer toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • please, don't .... :/

  • FAB

  • Makes yah wanna cry!!!

Great post one of the most awesome of Bands E-v-e-r!!!

  • fucking sweet , great post bro!

  • You are an asshole!

  • GREAT CALL!!! he is an asshole!! LOL!!!

  • um... yeah. Cuz king's x is a terrible band with no musical talent ... right

  • Comment removed

  • I only got to hear about King's X after I listened to John Myung's album with Ty Tabor under the "Jelly Jam" band name & "Platypus" albums featuring Ty Tabor. I got their most recent album, "XV". Does any long-time King's X fans suggest listening/buying any particular King's X albums?? Any feedback is greatly appreciated :0)

  • I've been with them since their second album "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska" and knew then they would always be my favorite band. Their sound was like nothing I'd ever heard then in 1989. This song is from "Dogman" and it is a killer album as well. I consider all of their first five albums classics. You can't go wrong with any of them. After you've digested them you'll want the whole collection. Hope that helps :)

  • Thanks, "noblefreecloud" :)

I got both "Dogman" & "GGtN" now...Waiting to find the others, but it looks like no one even knows about a band called "King's X" here in India. But I'll try to get all of 'em when I find them...!

Thanks for your feedback and I really appreciate it!

  • I was a big fan of Ear Candy and Ogre Tones... Tape Head was my first King's X album.

Also, if you didn't know there's 2 Jelly Jam albums these days.

  • @noblefreecloud: Thanks for your informative feedback! Although it's been a year since you responded to my query, I appreciate the time taken to answer! I've got almost all the King's X albums now :0) Cheers & Blessings!

  • @noblefreecloud And Ear Candy. I think there are some songs on that album that stand out; If you like "Cigarettes", then you should hear "Lies In The Sand (The Ballad Of...)". "A Box" is also a good one from that album. I think the reason people were disappointed with Ear candy was because it came out right after Dogman, which is an incredibly hard album to follow up.

  • @MicahandFriends Ear Candy is my favourite. Dogman really got me into it with the heaviness but EC has so many great songs. It's uplifting which is what they do so well. Please Come Home Mr Bulbous also amazing

  • @MicahandFriends Ear Candy is my favourite. Dogman really got me into it with the heaviness but EC has so many great songs. A Box, The Train, Picture, Lies in the Sand, Life Going By I could go on. It's uplifting which is what they do so well. Please Come Home Mr Bulbous also amazing

  • I suggest ear candy, or tape head. ogre tones is good. well shit, there all good.

  • faith hope and love, gretchen goes to nebraksa, ear candy, and XV in that order

  • i actually was at the recording studio in upstate ny ,w/ john myung, ty tabor and rod morgenstern when they were recording the 1st jelly jam record...they are great guys ...as far as kings x albums gretchen goes to nebraska ,and out of a silent planet are timeless classics ...in my opinion ,all the stuff they do is good ....but gretchen is like their dark side of the moon , or fragile ....kingsx rox keep listening to them : )

  • @centrocampista not sure if you'll see this, but I agree that Gretchen Goes to Nebraska and Dogman are amazing, and one of my favorites is simply their self titled one, along with Faith Hope Love, I love Ear Candy as well, Hmm I'd better stop, because in truth asking me to pick a favorite King's X album is a bit like asking me to pick a favorite child, I love them all.

  • @sexywitch156: Thank you very much :0) I've got all the "King's X" & "Jelly Jam" & "Platypus" albums now...I totally agree with you: it's not easy to pick a favorite amongst their albums and you've got to listen to the entire catalogue to understand, appreciate and suggest it to your like-minded pals! Cheers and blessings :D

  • @centrocampista Gretchen Goes To Nebraska, Dogman, and for later stuff, check out Please Come Home...Mr. Bulbous- and check out Doug's Poundhound ablums... they're killer!

  • @centrocampista I also started on Gretchen and all in all I'd have to say my favorite album from front to back was the self-titled album.

  • one of the best solo's i heared in my life

  • an amazing bittersweet song...hangs like spanish moss...and the sadness this song conveys is thicker and heavier than ty's tone...magnificent...

  • Dogman, what a great album. Yall Hard core Kings X fans need to check out a band from Atlanta, HottBoxx. THey will truly remind you of the Kings. Even do a rockin cover of Lookin for Love!!! Google them, be glad you did.

  • I just wanted to throw out the names LAST and Halcyon Way from Atlanta - both good bands as well.

  • Can you throw me the tab of that song...just someone tell me the tuning at least???

  • dallas 1994 ... good show. ty ripped, I think the NYC show was better but then again I am biased... heh

ty was really 'on' this tour and the crowds were real big, it sucks they got left off the woodstock album, they brought down the house with manic depression (although the sound live sucked, I was 20 "rows" back at woodstock, staked out all day to see them, had my king's x hat on... and got my noggin on MTV a few times)

  • I wish they'd put this back into their set. I could listen to Ty solo on this forever. "Sooner or Later" off Ogre Tones also has a similar feel live and is a great solo vehicle for Ty.

  • I cant wait to see them this month.

sometimes I think the pain blows my mind..

    Ty shreds

  • ty tabor is one of the most underated guitar players he ads hell of alot of color and let us not forget this is a 3 peice i,ve always loved the sound of this band they really are tru musicians!

  • This would have rocked if they would have put the solo in Flies and Blue Skies instead of cigarettes... I've never really liked the song. The solo kicks ass though.

  • unbelievable, probably one of the best guitar solos very creative

  • I don't know how you can listen to this and NOT BE MOVED. This is what good music is all about. And I preffer for them to be underated. good music is really not for the masses...this guys play for a selective audience and they know it. They don't need to sell 10 millions records.

  • I could not agree with you more bro!

    The best kept, "secret?"..in rock.

How a shitty band like Bush was bigger than these guys is a fucking joke!

    oh..and Cigarette's is one of my favorite King's X songs...like you said..moving!

  • Who's Bush again? What was their big hit?...

Oh wait, is that the guy who's married to Gwen Stafani, is that his band? Bush X? Oh yeah!! Glycerin... This song trumps that so badly it's kind of sad...

  • 100% agree with you...

  • Dude...I stopped smoking Cigarettes....But these dudes smoke...period!!!!

  • Damn, Ty rips.

  • yes...

  • wow...great post...thankx...

  • yep. as i thought, manfred mann. the outro guitar piece.

  • bits of this chanel the springseen remake by ? the song i think is called 'blinded by the light' the guitar solo is quite similar. on my way to check it out now!

  • Sublime.

  • Easily the greatest power trio of all time!

  • yes...and this is one of their best...one of the best songs ever...

  • I love moments, when a guitarist from trio plays solo. By bigger bands there's sometimes not enough music space and every musican want to show that he IS playing. great video btw

  • King's X is the most criminally underrated band of all time, IMO.

  • A truly great band live. These guys piss on most of the crap the music press go on about.

  • love the E-bow part(5.19>>>>)

  • people are scared of ty because he can play!

  • Yes, my point exactly so tell all your friends and petition Kings X to tour Europe. You can spearhead the whole thing and maybe they will start the fucking tour in your home town, Poland. POS gained a pretty big following cause of Daniel's anti USA bullshit... you know, always want what you cant have? So if X refused to tour Europe... get it? Thats it! They could become more popular too... which is exactly we all want. Thats all I was saying.

    Peace!

  • Sweet clip , thanks much for the post >>>> Rawk!!

  • Sweet clip , thanks much for the post >>>> Rawk!!

  • it's so sad how underated these guys are. this is so beautiful.

  • pinicle KINGS X

  • Ogre Tones was released on Inside Out Records as well. Jim Pitulski is a good dude but lets face it, ISO can't even get Pain of Salvation to tour The States. I don't know... I hope I am wrong and it will be different for X. Hey I have an unoriginal idea... maybe we could get Doug to cop an anti-Euro attitude and refuse to tour Europe... effing aye. JP, give it a try.... great scheme it worked with POS and it is difficult to deny the fundamental similarities between the 2. KING X IS AMERICA

  • and what about european fans smart boy? I want king's in Poland.
