I'm really excited at the idea of BenLoka showing veg-cooking videos like this... But I found this video a little hard to follow for anyone wishing to duplicate the recipes... I wonder if, in the future, you could add some titles showing the name & measurement of what you're adding etc. Just a suggestion.

Question, how would you recommend serving aprroximately 800 people recently displaced by a tornado? I was planning on serving ribeye sandwiches, or hamburgers off the grill, but if you have some vegan tips that fill some very hungry homeless folks, let me know!!
if you add beans to grains you get a whole protein. You could used canned beans, vegetables etc to help with cooking times. Falafel are made by frying raw (but soaked) chickpeas, and are filling, you could serve those in bread. Cooking for 40 or so would be quite easy, 800 quite a challenge, so it will alway be a job for more than one person, no matter what you cook. Protein is not such an issue, you should look at the overall number of calories (in an emergency situation, more is better).
Well we are (were)cooking not really in an "emergency,"we were doing as more good will,for the relief workers, and victims. Meat is more plentiful and cheaper,at least here in the midwest,it just takes less time, less FILLS them up,as well.we served nearly 760 hamburger and porkburgers and we got several hugs from many greatful people,one guy lost his dogs,his wife is still hospitilized,cars,house gone,and his mother killed in the next town over. Largest tornado yet,my car windows shattered.
Wasnt to concerned with nutritional "value," this more like soul food, wasn't really practical to serve nearly 800 people with plates, bowls, or sporks. Just toss on grill flip, and slap on bread buns, and pass them out, we could several at once then put them in styrofoam coolers an tin foil to keep them warm, and then we were able to serve everyone in just a couple of hours over lunch time, right out there in what once was the highschool parking lot.
I don't think anyone should bitch at you for serving meat in that situation, personally.
I think, in a situation where you're just trying to care for disaster victims, it'd be ideal to offer some vegetarian/vegan recipes, but you're not talking about an ideal situation.

very good advise. Im a vegy myself and i cant cook... at all. You can imagine how bad that is for me. It's true that you can have a very healthy diet with out meat. Soya and anything beany is one of my favourite types of food. The part where Ben's friend... i think he called himself RoseLoka. XD He said to enjoy making food, be more positive about it. Do it for God, that was very interesting. For lunch today, im going to have some fun! Cheers lads.

yey! so helpful. i stopped eating meat 3 days ago (i know it isn't that much) but this is so useful
i'm really ashamed to admit this, but i actually didn't do the "1 vegetarian week", but i watched the documentary Earthlings (everybody go check it out!) and i was shocked & i won't eat meat again so i'm in the middle of the transition, it hasn't been that hard, but i know at some point my creativity for making meals will end. so in 5 words: thank you ben & rasa

why does anyone who asked about their sexual orientation gets a negative response from the viewers? not all of us are angry biased homophobics like some of you may think. i live in one of the most gay-friendly, gay-populated cities in the world and i enjoy it. get it right before you guys mistaken us for judging, just because we are curious about ben doesn't mean we like ben less than you do. it's a fucking simple question, just as if you saw a cute baby and you go "is the baby a boy or girl?"

onions, garlic and mushrooms, hare krishnas dont eat those because when the first cow was killed, mother nature spewed that up and that why onions stink stays on youur hands and makes your breath smell really bad, same with garlic i cant remember why for mushrooms though but its somthing like that. I can tell that this is going to be super helpful! I've given up meat all this week successfully and I'm going to see how long I can keep it up. I bought a vegetarian cookbook a few days ago which hopefully will help and now these videos will toooo! Thanks, Ben. And Rasa. Although, I didn't understand most of the words he said cause he spoke soo incredibly fast, so I may have to watch it 2, 3 or 12 more times. But I'm excited for the rest!

Anyway, just wanted to mention that most think its equally rude to ask someone if their baby is a boy or girl? @ least in the USA, I think a lot of ppl would find that rude? I think its also a bit rude to ask someone their sexual orientation...

I truly respect you and your stance. As my other blogs on the Ben Loka vegetarian week, and why you should be a vegetarian videos, would suggest, I am NOT a vegetarian, I eat both, and like both. I only get irritaded when I hear such far out accusations based without merit. If all vegetarians thought as PRACTICALLY as you, than I would not have been so irritated.
