That is pretty dramatic. Those houses held together rather well all things considered. In any other country they would have been tooth picks. The Santa Monica mountain range is geologically unstable though. From Santa Barbara all the way down. No body should be building on it.
Looks like the homeowners were seeking that "grand view." Looks like they indeed got just that. People will probably build there again, then down the road we'll see more videos like this from the same location.
