It's called gravitational lensing. Black holes spread out through space are so powerful not even light can escape them. Basically what the line of light is, is a distortion in time and space. We're on earth and there's a black hole between us and the Orion area. So realistically that line isn't really there, it's just a distortion of light that we're seeing.

@greggschariot Do you understand how far this is zoomed in to see it? When we take photos of star trails at night with our camera the planes don't appear as dots and lines behinds stars. Planes appear as solid white lines. Sorry. Let's think of something else.
@greggschariot We have time to contend with here in terms of light years. If this were the trail of an object in our atmosphere it would have to be a very dimly lit object that is flying in a precisely straight line that pulses at exact intervals the same color. Planes have very bright white lights and red lights that flash irregularly. If it is an artifact it has to be on the image and if it is it is microscopic.
@Blissweaver You don't understand how the DSS imagery is assembled. Three seperate images are combined: one that was taken with a blue filter, one with a green filter and one with red. Therefore a white light could appear pure red, green, blue, or a combination thereof. And a telescope scan of the sky is very different than a regular camera.
If you don't believe me, do some research or believe whatever you wish. I was just trying to help.

@Blissweaver You're very welcome. :) To put it in perspective for you: have you ever watched the International Space Station pass overhead when it's visible? I've seen this a couple of times. It looks like a small star moving across the sky. So a satellite or piece of space debris would be even smaller, especially if captured by the poor resolution DSS imagery.

This is not the "real" sky, it is a photo mosaic, it is not in real time, probably what you are seeing is the unions between mosaics, please people, stop taking google sky as a real time tool to finding "anomalies" there are plenty of course but before they are released these pictures are doctored, many "anomalous" findings are just the junctures between photographs, many of these pictures are decades old, this is not how space "looks" like right now...

I think it could be one object. Possibly a UFO moving at a constant speed across the sky which would make sense why it would look bright at some spots cause that is when the pictures were taken and if it was moving fast enough it would have a line trailing behind it. As for the object beneath the line could be nebula or UFO. I am a huge UFO and alien believer but i like to see from all angles.

This is Cari. I am not confused unless by "confused" you mean my uncertainty of what this anomaly may be. "Light Disc" marked number six actually disappears behind a star and does not obscure it. If this were an image anomaly on the surface of the image it would not do this.

It's a database problem. This is a frequent issue when you attempt to match up adjacent images from cameras that do not align on the same azimuth and angle.

Look closely, Google Sky is covered with these. They're look like they're exactly what you said they were at the start of the video; Glare lines from stars.
Another thing to bear in mind is that images of space are actually very long exposure images, over days or even weeks. So a small object in the telescopes field of vision could show a trail and distinct 'blobs' along that trail at regular intervals.
I'm pretty sure they're not "portals" on a "superhighway." Sorry.
The idea that "the line" may be an object moving is a good one. But it would leave one long trail as we demonstrated in out Tee Pee star trail video and not multiple solid images of the object every so many AUs spaced in exact increments.

Ok as a astrophotographer myself the answer is easy, The photo which google has used has either photographed a satellite or a metorite while taking the exposure. The focus used is not the best for your close ups so the object your not sure about could be a blurred double star, which looks like a long streak.

@Blissweaver You don't understand how the DSS imagery is assembled. Three seperate images are combined: one that was taken with a blue filter, one with a green filter and one with red. Therefore a white light could appear pure red, green, blue, or a combination thereof. And a telescope scan of the sky is very different than a regular camera.
If you don't believe me, do some research or believe whatever you wish. I was just trying to help.

@Blissweaver You're very welcome. :) To put it in perspective for you: have you ever watched the International Space Station pass overhead when it's visible? I've seen this a couple of times. It looks like a small star moving across the sky. So a satellite or piece of space debris would be even smaller, especially if captured by the poor resolution DSS imagery.

This is not the "real" sky, it is a photo mosaic, it is not in real time, probably what you are seeing is the unions between mosaics, please people, stop taking google sky as a real time tool to finding "anomalies" there are plenty of course but before they are released these pictures are doctored, many "anomalous" findings are just the junctures between photographs, many of these pictures are decades old, this is not how space "looks" like right now...

I think it could be one object. Possibly a UFO moving at a constant speed across the sky which would make sense why it would look bright at some spots cause that is when the pictures were taken and if it was moving fast enough it would have a line trailing behind it. As for the object beneath the line could be nebula or UFO. I am a huge UFO and alien believer but i like to see from all angles.

This is Cari. I am not confused unless by "confused" you mean my uncertainty of what this anomaly may be. @lauracaroliancu Battle LA is an over exaggeration of something that happened back in war times. some 1200 rounds of artilery shells were fired at a spaceshift that hovered over LA. Not many people witnessed it as it was a time of war, and so many thought it was a japanese bomber. You can look it up in google, there are enhanced pictures showing the space craft.

This is a different image/object and location than that. But I believe the "serpents tail" is referring to a comet. Not sure what that is that you found but it looks like an actual deep space cluster and not an anomaly. Thanks!

"Light Disc" marked number six actually disappears behind a star and does not obscure it. If this were an image anomaly on the surface of the image it would not do this.

It could be something somewhere was on the move and flashing during the long exposure required to take that image in Google Sky. However the odd shaped stationary object is definitely unusual. I tried to search to see if anyone else knows about it on the internet and to no avail.

I think what you found is awesome! And forget about the naysayers! I believe it means something. I also believe the other object you found that had the weird shape is something as well. I notice in the comment section no one seems to comment on this! I think there is ALOT more to constellations, stars, then we've been told.....we need to start seeing alot clearer than what we have been PROGRAMMED to. It's a database problem. This is a frequent issue when you attempt to match up adjacent images from cameras that do not align on the same azimuth and angle.

Look closely, Google Sky is covered with these. They're look like they're exactly what you said they were at the start of the video; Glare lines from stars.
Another thing to bear in mind is that images of space are actually very long exposure images, over days or even weeks. So a small object in the telescopes field of vision could show a trail and distinct 'blobs' along that trail at regular intervals.
I'm pretty sure they're not "portals" on a "superhighway." Sorry.

The idea that "the line" may be an object moving is a good one. But it would leave one long trail as we demonstrated in out Tee Pee star trail video and not multiple solid images of the object every so many AUs spaced in exact increments.

Ok as a astrophotographer myself the answer is easy, The photo which google has used has either photographed a satellite or a metorite while taking the exposure. The focus used is not the best for your close ups so the object your not sure about could be a blurred double star, which looks like a long streak.
