Its not green tea flavor its actualy green tea extract what its saying on the bottle , I have tried the version in French and just taste same like normal Cola light.
@Kodiou Flavor means that it should taste like Green tea which it actually does not taste anything like. It just have green tea extract which means it have the healthy supplement in the drink to help boosting the health.
Hello Bosingr, There is actually very little tea flavor (just a hint at the end). I think that the key with this product is the inclusion of chemicals from green tea which are considered to be beneficial to our health. -Kurt :-)
hey, they have a shiso pepsi, which is a japanese herb like plant they put in miso sup and sometiems serve with sashimi. do a review on it? :P it tastes pretty funny lol
Hello dondondodo, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm actually putting together some footage for a Shiso Pepsi review (I have everything but the Shiso Pepsi shot). Thanks for the kind reminder as I had better do this soon before its no longer available in the stores. Thanks again! -Kurt :-)
also there are some funny flavored kit kats you can find if you go to like tourist areas, i found a hot pepper flavored kit kat :o and mango and like "lamone" (type of candy) flavored. they're interesting :)
Holy crap if they sold Green tea coca cola, here in the U.S. I would be so happy!!
I would drink 3 or 4 bottles a day if they sold it here, and the antioxidants in it are good for your immune system and brain because of L-Theanine that's in it.
I think this would be a healthier soda to drink...You're so lucky to try it.
Hello EricSchwin22, I'm sorry that this particular type of Coke is not availablein your area. Perhaps if it is a hit here then it will become available elsewhere. -Kurt :-)
I have tried Lipton, 3 types of Midori, and Triple Leaf. All but the Triple Leaf comes slightly close to the Genmacha of the restaurant.
Lipton's reminds me of distilled garbage water. It cost $1.79 for 40 tea bags. The Midori, not as bad as the Lipton, costs $1.09 for 20 tea bags. The Triple Leaf? - costs $3.99 for 12. You get what you pay for. And Coke is $1.20 for 20 oz. 'nuff said?
I stopped drinking soda about 2 weeks now and since I found Genmacha won't go back.
Hey Kurt, I looked for it today in the USA, but didn't find it. Sounds yummy! Was curious if they make a diet version? With the regular version is the calories less? Great way to get some antioxidents into your Coke. Cucumber Pepsi sounds yummy too.....wonder why we didn't carry that. We had Diet Vanilla Coke for awhile, but I can no longer find it. Was at Costco today and trying a variety of Hansen's Diet drinks that are "all natural"....whatever that means! LOL!
Hello Heather, I'm sorry to hear that you could not find this soda near your home. From the feedback folks are leaving I am getting the impression that there are many regional sodas produced for local markets by these bottling companies. It sounds like you have some interesting varieties as well (the Diet Vanilla Coke sounds good!) which we do not have here. There are diet colas here though I did not see one for the green tea flavor. -Kurt :-)
lol thats crazy, they sure love their green tea over there! although it takes the point out of green tea a little when they mix it with a fizzy drink dont you think...? :\
Hello shadowsteve, I do indeed agree. In my mind it is kind of like mixing fine Bordeaux with cola. An interesting experiment though not something I might want to drink regularly. However, I must confess that this particular blend is really not too bad though the idea alone seems rather odd. Thanks for viewing and commenting! -Kurt :-)
Haha yeah, i have to confess i would probably buy some given the chance; and the cucumber pepsi is just mad!! I would very much like to taste how the cola goes with the green tea, i might just do an experiment of my own and drink the two things at the same time! :D
Hello daiquirikiss, Yes, the cucumber pepsi was indeed something to be missed. I think I can still taste a bit of that flavor in my mouth to this day. -Kurt :-)
Cucumber Pepsi? wow! That doesn't sound very good but, the Green Tea Coke is a drink I would love to try! When I was there in '04,I had green tea ice cream...OISHI!!! Another beverage I REALLY enjoyed during my visit was a drink called Gokuri...I believe it was made from japanese grapefruit. The best juice drink I've ever had! Take care!
Hello gtpluvr, I'm with you regarding the Cucumber Pepsi (bleh) though I may indeed be buying the Green Tea Flavor Coke which is actually very good! I will also be on the lookout for Gokuri with my next visit to the convenience store! Thanks for the suggestion! -Kurt :-)
I am starting an undergraduate degree in commerce next year and I am currently planning to major in marketing. (although I don't actually choose my major for 2 more years)
I have always considered moving to Japan after University and living and working there. I am not necessarily planning to enter the businesses world if I move there. I may start off teaching english or whatever. But I figure a commerce degree would be a good degree to have regardless and I am interested in marketing.
Anyway the point of my comment ( I went over the character limit) was to say:
I bet that Japan is a very interesting place to be if you are in the marketing industry. I think it would probably be very exciting but also extremely challenging. There seems to be so much competition between manufacturers. Also coming from Canada would be an added challenge because it is such a different culture.
Hello 6663000, I think that you would indeed find Japan to be a rich and varied source of fascinating marketing campaigns and tactics. It seems that we are constantly being bombarded through broadcasting, print and even trucks with loudspeakers with the latest and greatest products and gadgets and its amazing to see the diverse tactics and clever (and even very artistic) methods employed in getting the message out. -Kurt
I do hope that you will have a chance to come to Japan, even if just for a year or so as I suspect that the experience may have a deep and profound effect on your life and career. -Kurt :-)
I really need to work on getting myself to Japan! T_T So many things, it's daunting. I know what I want to do but I don't know where to begin, besides studying Japanese!
Hello hapsap, Thanks for the suggestion. Yumiko and I talk about this sometimes and we hope to one day expand in this direction. Thank you for sharing your ideas which will certainly help us decide the future course of things on the business end. And thank you of course for viewing and commenting! -Kurt :-)
Party in the beginning, business at the end. It's like the backward mullet for a soft drink! It's interesting how they didn't use the word "matcha" in Kanji characters anywhere on the bottle. I mean, with everything else they use that word on their package. I just went to Mitsuwa supermarket here on the east coast, and noticed practically everything they had in the snacks section had the word matcha in it.! My favorite was greentea flavor Karintou. I'm an addict now...
Hello TiramisuHappy, I love your description and always enjoy any sentence where the use of the word "mullet" can be employed! Now that you mention it it does seem a bit strange that there is no use of the word macha, though perhaps this indicates that no macha was harmed in the making of this soda? Perhaps they just added some key ingredients synthesized at the Coca Cola bottling labs?
And you can bet I will be on the lookout for that Karintou you recommend! Kurt :-)
Hello dondondodo, These special formula drinks seem to arrive early in the summer season and stay for a few months. I hope that you will get a chance to try it while you are here. And I hope that you have a great trip to Japan! -Kurt :-)
Hello Kusanagijoy, I found this drink at our local FamilyMart (is this one word?) which you might try if you have any of these stores in your area. -Kurt :-)
I tried it last week. Not bad, but I didn't taste any green tea. Later this week, Pepsi is supposed to release "Pepsi Shiso"! I look forward to that one!
Hi BusanKevin, Thanks for the heads up about the Pepsi Shiso. Isn't it amazing to see the interesting flavor varieties these companies are producing. Did you try the Cucumber Pepsi a few years back? I did not like that one much... -Kurt :-)
I never got to try the Cucumber Pepsi, but read about it. I was still living in Canada at the time. My wife just bought me a bottle of the Pepsi Shiso...look forward to giving it a try.
Hello BusanKevin, So how was the Pepsi Shio? Perhaps I will run out and get some myself it is available here in Shizuoka. I look forward to your review. -Kurt :-)
Hello Peekingduck, One thing I failed to mention in the video (because I did not know it at the time) is that this beverage includes "catechin" which is one of the beneficial elements of green tea. From some reading I did it seems that Coke's aim is to deliver a cola which has some good health benefits. -Kurt :-)
Hello hoji808, The taste was surprisingly mild and rather refreshing. I was initially expecting a wierd mix of cola tingle with green tea though the actual taste was a pretty good blend of the two. I hope that you can have a chance to give it a try. -Kurt :-)
