the name of the lead singer was paul. before the pinkees,he played in a basildon based group called fantasy. they were resident band at the bull, vange essex(part of basildon).i used to go each week to see them play, and after getting to know paul, persuaded him to give me guitar lessons. not sure what paul got up to after the pinkees.does anyone know?
Blimey this takes me back! 1982. I still have the 7" single somewhere. Great tune, real Beatles-meets-Squeeze vibe going on here. Did the guy playing the sunburst Stratocaster go on to play in the Outfield?
They used to play every week in a pub in Basildon. They came from the Essex area I think. Once they had the hit they stopped playing at the pub and the new group was rubbish.
I remember this one very well, but could never remember the name of the group, hence it has taken me so long to track down on here.
One of the best songs of that year in my opinion. It was a well written song, had some very nice guitars on it, & was played by a band that could do it live!
It sounded great on medium wave back then, & still sounds just as good today :)
I even played this one at an audition I went to for a guitar job. I didn't get it, but what fun ;)
I like my music...alot and am into pretty much alternative stuff-but i have to give these guys credit - that's a great little tune.Beatles and Buddy Holly hybrid.
Always thought this very remanicent of sqeeuze

Superb, 1982, I have the single, but great to hear them live, I think they were from the Liverpool area, still a fantastic tune.
