I think she is good no matter what style she is doing. She can pull off a bluesy pop song as well as pop ballad. I see her bluesy roots in a lot of her work.
I guess you younguns never seen Joe Cocker, Im not sure youd know genius when you have it right in front of ya. Oh well, listen to "last Exit to Eden" no offence ,to each his own
That was perfection, all you critical old school blues dorks!!!
Gawd....it takes a special breed of jealousness to put down that performance!!
If you failed to feel the energy from Marshall's early vocal accomplishment..then you all need to ask the gods above to bless y'all with ears that can hear the power of music...cuz u don't presently possess it!!!
This same year...as part of the Much Music stuff....there was a bit of her playing just sitting on the beach with a guitar player and they played Castles Made of Sand...anyone have that??
Thanks for posting this, I remember it when it was first aired.I agree with the other poster, ..I loved her before the record deals came along and forced her to dumb down, to be more mainstream, I heard her first album had to be scrapped and re-recorded for the masses... a shame, because I think she really shines doing more bluesy, soulful material instead of the pop stuff. Hopefully she'll return to her roots someday.
This isn't a bad cover. It's got a lot of feeling and emotion. I've watched a lot of videos covering this song and this is one of the best. I've always loved this song and am on the loo-out for a perfectly recorded cover that I love. this come really close. Thanks so much for posting. I really enjoyed this.
Ugh, call me a purist but I think this rendition totally misses the point of this song. Great voice, completely murders the feel of this song. Like Britney Spears singing Danzig.
It's the love child of Janis Joplin and Joe Cocker singing one of my favourite songs. I have heard several versions of this song but I think this might be the only one where the singer sounds as if she's actually lived the hard life of the old woman in the song. Thank you!
She was so much better before her record deal. She used to tear up the clubs with that big voice of hers. Her albums always seemed so lacklustre given her obvious talent. She should have been the one with the 'Jagged Little Pill' success; all she needed was to channel what you're seeing her onto a disc.
It reminds me of (the old) Beth Hart as well. Voice and movements. Beth performed Angel From Montgomery a few years ago. I still have an mp3 of it'. Great version!
its so wonderful .thank you

Is she having some sort of fit? Parkinsons's Disease maybe?
Also, someone might want to send her the definition of "poignant", because she doesn't appear to have a clue.

Kinda a cross between Joplin Beth Heart and Jordis Unger. Pretty damn good though.

BigDaddyDishrags: Thanks so much for posting this video. It's got to be a rare thing, just like Amanda is.
I just wish she'd give us another album. I can't afford to go to her gigs across the Atlantic - unfortunately.
