@chevypower1930 hmm, but in the UK with all other costs with fuel (7 quid per litre) and tax and all the other stuff when i looked into it, it was going to be very expensive as the bikes were going to have to be taxed, so insurance will also be needed. (trust me it aint cheap)
@chevypower1930 yeah the goverment is a joke, they rip you off for everything thn say they dont have enough money as they are getting sued over there expenses claims so they put tax and other crap up and the cyle continues.
And they have stupid rules on stuff like this, U know the eletric scooters for kids........ they are virtually banned over here as they are too powerful, and anything that has a combustion engine or over 25W eletric engine has to have insurance and tax and all the other crap
@kedwardsTWO WOW... yeah that's pretty ridiculous, HATE government having complete control, we're going through the fight here over +/- big government, I couldn't imagine having to go through the stuff yall do
@chevypower1930 lol yeahlots of riots in the UK currently about all of the uni fees, students are causing a tonne of damage and cost and the government is still putting the fees up, oh and you know how the french were rioting over retirement age of 62 there trying to put ours up to around 68-70, there making cuts everywhere fuel is a bomb in price
oh and listern to this one, to make more money they stopped a oil tanker docking with the UK so they could make more money for fuel. what a con
@TimpBizkit LOL ahh, i love it when people don't believe me in how poor and ludicrous my government is. I looked into developing a electric bike a few years back, and if the engine was over 25W it is illegal and would be crushed LOL 250W...... i wished.
This is one of those small jet engines with a radial compressor, an annular combustor, and an axial turbine. At >$2000 dollars, these are far more sophisticated than the ones made from a turbocharger (more compact, lighter, and more powerful ( ~35 lbs. What do you get out the turbocharger? 9-16 lbs?)).
@kenupcmac I own this bike, its now the biohazzard jet bike. you can get the turbine from us microjets in ohio. they cost about 5500.00 for the 45# thrust as shown here. Wayne Spring
where the F did they get this engine? is it a home made one or do they sell these things? I GOTTA get me one of those. if anyone has any info about where to purchase one of these or about its price please reply

I apologize to the other readers of the thread, I did not intend to get suckered into a nerd war, with a bunch of duches. I merly stated that I beleive (and still do) that out of all of the videos on youtube of rocket-bikes, I think this one is a fraud, for seveal reasons. Aperently I am not allowed to have an opinion, without being assulted by a buch of dicks, who dont really know shit, they just want to have a fight, online, because they are pussys.
so I did some reading on the subject last night, and I found that u have no idea what u are talikin about either. There are so many factors, that it is nearly impossible 2 accurately predict when a contrail (proper term) will form. The main factor being ambient humidity, not temperature.
I know u are a liar, because of what u said about being a pilot. Every pilot must have a fundamental knowledge of there aircraft and flight engineering, before any government will let u fly. U-R-A Liar!
lemme get this straight, I, as an engineer have discounted just about everything you've said. And, you have other engineers telling you that you are wrong aswell and you have actually gotten to the point whereby all you can say is "you are a liar"?????? uh, hello. what knowledge of me do you have to makes such a statement? once again making a completely unresearched and ill assessed statement. everything i have said to this point is accurate where as you have just made a lot of dumb claims.
ColdHam1, I recommend that instead of being stubborn and trying to further argue beyond your capacity, you be a little humble, take a step back, read everything that has been said to you and leave this argument with a little bit more knowledge than you had before. that way you may have a bit more knowledge next time you get yourself into an engineering related debate, know a thing or 2 and ppl may not take you to be a complete idiot with no knowledge or education. just an idea ; )
systems engineering IS NOT mechanical engineering, nor is it chemical engineering. you therefor dont have the required knowledge make assumptions on structural integrity of the bike rack nor the processes involved in the combustion of fuel and exhaust content. I have made no assumptions and argued strictly within my expertise. you have also been told by other engineers that you are wrong and many of your comments have been deleted. i therefor suggest you take heed and realise your wrong
not purely that is.... btw, having taken ground school for your ppl means nothing, so have I and millions of others. flying a plane does require knowledge of the engineering aspects of your aircraft, flight controls etc but it does not make you an expert which you are pretending to be. and no, it would not need to be very hot, infact it would only need to be 24+ degrees celcius, which is lower than the global average. just cause you live in a cold place doesnt mean the whole world does.
i've been around aircraft my entire life too, I too am a pilot, and I can tell you as both an engineer and a pilot that being a pilot doesn't mean much.... please remember that you earlier made the claim that the rack on this bike couldn't take a mere 40ish lbs of horizontal thrust. anyone dumb enough to make such a claim could not possibly have any basic engineering background. if you indeed hold any engineering position I question your employer.
Hi Olchev, Good comment.Too many idiots not aware that the little engines exist. There are other vids of motorcycles with the turbine. The bike was powered by this engine. The mount WILL hold, it's built strong. 30 lb of thrust isn't that much "pressure". as you call it. Vapor trail??. He's not at 20K feet. There would be if WX conditions are right.
Check out other vids and you will see this is real.
it looks to be the real McCoy. No other visable power source and heat and exhaust present. Frame looks sturdy enough to handle 30lbs thrust which is what an engine this size can produce. Everyone around got excited about it also!
you're an idiot, that is real, that's a model jet engine that they use in RC jets, youtube search model jet engine and you'll find tons of videos of them
i'm not arguing if the bike is real, it's most likely propelled by an electric front hub. what i'm arguing is the jet engine being real... everyone keeps saying it's fake. if it was a turbo-shaft variant it would have the power to propel the bike but using thrust alone for a grown man on a bike, it's just not enough. go youtube search for "model jet engine" and you'll see an entire page of engines just like the one on this video, they're real.
I own the jet bike and it is real, it produces 45 Ibs of thrust. Check out AMT USA 450. The bike will propelle me 50 MPH. Check out the most recent one I built, Look on Youtube for " Biohazard Jet Bike test run"
1 vapour trails arent neccesarily produced by jet engines, on aircraft theyre produced by condendation over the wings/stabs if thats what inspired your comment. sure you can get trails from SOME jet engines but it depends on mixture, fuel type, throttle setting and overall quality of the engine itself 2, yes the rack can stand that pressure esp at the 180 degree angle that its at.
And yeah, all hydrocarbons burn but that doesnt mean they can all be used as fuel... yes they are fuels, but not suitible ones.... they have diff burn properties and cant all be used... and btw, the fuel this uses aint a pure hydrocarbon like butane, methane, propane etc. its most probably a methane, castor, nitro mix.... it could even be running on normal petrol, glow fuel, and plenty of other possibilities. most pure hydrocarbons will burn too hot for this engine and will damage it....
now seeing as mechatronics and electronics will not give you the neccesary knowledge to give an educated assesmenton in this topic of structural/chemical engineering i reccomend you shut up and quit making yourself look stupid... your clearly arguing well beyond your field of expertise, something im well within, unlike you, an amatuer experimentor in the field of robotics, im actually an engineer.
so what? robots are something anyone can make given schematics.... and oh, you saw my page? so? this account was made specifically for parkour, and hasnt been updated in a ages, its not for any of my projects. thats what my portfolio's for.... and btw, this is a matter of structural & chemical engineering. its completely different from robotics which is a matter of mechatronics and electronics. which arent even mechanical or electrical engineering, theyre sub-cats of it.
school: graduating B/s Eng/aero next yr with hons.
why does every other one have a vapour trail? lets see, 1, theyre on homemade engines which are not of the same quality of this which is professionally made. even if it does have less power. 2 the fuel used, as i mentioned earlier makes a huge diff. wanna argue about force/load/strength? well i dont need to, a kid in grade 9 could explain that to you.
hydrocarbons eh? theres so many types, most of which can be used as fuel, all which produce different chemical by-products apart from their common H20 when combusted. it also depends on whether combustion is complete of not as impurities will make the vapour more visible. water vapour which is produced when hydrocarbons are burned is invisible unless it condences. when it does we see vapour trails, however in warmer climates we will not see this condensation...
1. i said former marine engineer and now aeronautical engineer, what the fuck does that have to do with being a marine?
2. re-read my last point genius, the H20 will be created in the form of water vapour/steam WHICH IS INVISIBLE!!!!! visible vapour trails(of h20) will only be visible when they condense! THIS CONDENSATION WILL ONLY TAKE PLACE IN COLD CLIMATES AND/OR HIGH ALTITUDES.... go back to school....
as for why im bothering with this, it annoys the shit out of me when ppl with no engineering knowledge make claims as to the legitimacy of things when they dont have the required knowledge to make a valid assesment.
Seeing as the rider didn't seem very au fait with the jet engine - he called it a rocket. I was waiting for him to swing his leg over the saddle and singe-off all the hairs on his leg.
I was pulled over last saturday by two police. The only reason I didn't get a ticket is because I don't think they knew how to write it up. I was also polite to the officers...that goes a long way.
Yeah, all me and my friends do stupid stuff. And cos there idiots and im smart i can talk myself out of any situation. while there standing there rubbing there elbows im just being polite and the cops leave me alone.
I,m 50% through with the custom version of this bike. You can see the progress as it unfolds by doing a search on "Biohazzard jet bike" Will continue to post updates to youtube. Wayne Spring, Albany, LA
The Abita Springs bike festival is about showing off your custom bikes, not about riding a bike and working out. Just because you have a bike with a jet engine screwed on the back doesnt mean your lazy. He rides a speedbike (yes, one that you peddle) atleast 15 miles a week.
Oh yeah?? What if the mounting bolts are a bit loose when you accidentaly goose the throttle??? You'd have a hard time explaing to the surgeon how you got a jet engine stuck in your backside.
The Louisiana Bicycle Festival always has a lot of crazy bicycles and also some really nice vintage bicycles. They have a good web site with lots of pictures at the Abita Mystery House site.
i heard a jet take off? nope, a bicycle.

AMT 450. It has 45# of thrust. You can see the finished bike under Biohazard jet bike test run or just go to my channel- wmcs11.

what model is it
thomasvvvwww 3 years ago
Seeing as the rider didn't seem very au fait with the jet engine - he called it a rocket. I was waiting for him to swing his leg over the saddle and singe-off all the hairs on his leg.

I tried to register it as a mopad, the lady just had this look on her face that told me it wasn't gonna happen.
wmcs11 3 years ago
I just think it was hilarious to hear the rocket and see him riding off. the guy doesnt howl or cheer or say a word, he just rides away.
easygoingb 3 years ago 3
How cool is that? Would the DMV consider this a moped?
thorneswift 3 years ago 2
I was pulled over last saturday by two police. The only reason I didn't get a ticket is because I don't think they knew how to write it up. I was also polite to the officers...that goes a long way.
wmcs11 3 years ago 2
Yeah, all me and my friends do stupid stuff. And cos there idiots and im smart i can talk myself out of any situation. while there standing there rubbing there elbows im just being polite and the cops leave me alone.

lainlives 4 years ago
It was made using a AMT 450 jet turbine. The turbine cost $5,000.00, I have about $6,100.00 into the bike at present.
wmcs11 4 years ago
It probably cost the company a few hundred to make it to I think. lol
gavingoo 3 years ago
that world be so awesome to ride. Scary, though. Really scary.
DoctorNumber46 4 years ago
that defeats the purpose of a freakin bike...i think he was at the wrong convention. lazy bum
ebonyrolla7 4 years ago
The Abita Springs bike festival is about showing off your custom bikes, not about riding a bike and working out. Just because you have a bike with a jet engine screwed on the back doesnt mean your lazy. He rides a speedbike (yes, one that you peddle) atleast 15 miles a week.
Skullsy2323 4 years ago
Oh yeah?? What if the mounting bolts are a bit loose when you accidentaly goose the throttle??? You'd have a hard time explaing to the surgeon how you got a jet engine stuck in your backside.
Jangle2007 4 years ago
How did you make this great thing? I want one for my bike for driving to school (A 3-minut drive ;-) )

Man that jet was loud as hell. How much fuel did he use to get that distance? How far can he get with how much fuel?
Kcrunchymunch 4 years ago
It gets 1.2 miles to the gallon.

The Louisiana Bicycle Festival always has a lot of crazy bicycles and also some really nice vintage bicycles. They have a good web site with lots of pictures at the Abita Mystery House site.
