Ronnie Wood.......is there anythyng else to say. Well Slash but this is still all Ronnie.......great rendition. Gota add this one to favorites. Loved the song in the 70's love it now.
Superb instrumentals......BUT THE VOCALS )**..not so good .... anyway ...thats why we have the likes of mick and rod.....to complement these guys.....keith richards for example is a brilliant guitarist and songwriter but he,d be a busker without mick jagger....check out terry reid if you appreciate top quality vocals....originally first choice for led zepp...but turned em down....there real class for you.
The definition of Rock n' Roll is Mr. Ron Wood. He's played with everyone there is to play with. Guitar sounds out of this world. Lives like a rock star should. Ronnie is the man
@rockinroller7 They're both amongst the very best in Rock and Roll; You're right on with Ronnie's talent! Ronnie was the catalyst in Faces even before his "Stone" days. Check him out on the Strat's 50th anniversary gig when he comes on stage playing a Gibson acoustic/electric -- now that takes standing as well as balls!
@rockinroller7Rod always made a point of dueting with ronnie and was never shy in offering to share the mike with him.....but it was stewarts charisma and stage presence that brought them the fame ....not to mention either his or his managements choice of superb material mostly from chess records etc....and they certainly fed off each other creatively....can,t remember seeing mick offering the mike to ronnie....maybe i,m wrong.
@speedcrane I have no reason to disagree with what you wrote,,,or, with all due respect, change anything I wrote regarding Wood's stature as being necessary for the bands success.
@rockinroller7 Checkout TERRY REID "without expression" and THE KINGBIRDS "should have been me"(swedish band).....hope you enjoy.....and all free on the tube.
@macduflives If you're implying Rod would have been nowhere (with)out Jeff Beck, I couldn't agree with you more, and thanks for adding Becks name now, given I should have mentioned it in my initial comment.
@MarekPick With all due respect, I'm not kidding. And it seems that 18 people agree with me, not to mention the 11 who agree that "Ronnie is the man," as stated by, '19strat.'
I've listened to Rod, as his music choices evolved for over 40 years, which I believe qualifies meas one who does know quite a bit about him. Again, with respect, I simply believe his best years were with Wood.
and saying that he would have been nowhere is a little farfetched because I suppose you know that he had a pretty good career as a solo artist with numerous hits such as "Maggie May", "Killing of Georgie", "Tonight's the Night" etc,
The song I really LOVE with Ronnie is "Stay with Me" and personally I believe he was better solo but that's just taste and that's why I don't agree with you
@MarekPick Again, with respect. We just part ways as Rod's career advanced after left the band.
I was stating that Rod would have been nowhere without Ron, during their time together. Pretty strong words, but it's my belief. Also, guess who's playing mandolin on, "Maggie May," not to mention, "Mandolin Wind?"
Yep, Ron Wood.
Look, we come from different generations. I understand how you could like Rod's music, maybe growing up listening to Rod more without Ron.
"Stay With Me," is a great song. Just as, "I'm Losing You," And, "Every Picture Tells A Story.
In the end, when Rod went disco, I couldn't go with him.
I respect your taste for Rod. We don't really disagree on much, just my feelings, which comes from how much I believe Rod and Ron could have done together, if they hadn't split.
I have no ill feelings toward Rod, I just felt Ronnie's guitar drove the band, but without Rod's voice, the band wouldn't have gone far.
@rockinroller7 Neither one would've been anywhere without Ronnie Lane. I mean what were either one of them going to do after Jeff Beck? The stars aligned, literally & figuratively.
Agreed. Ronnie was more than just a guy on stage with Wood and Stewart. He made the band much better. But too much talent in one band just never seems to last. For a very compelling slice of Lane's talent, just check out his "Rough Mix," album with Pete Townshend, if you haven't already.
@rockinroller7 Yeah, his songwriting and overall contribution to the band are tremendously ignored. There's some stuff with Slim Chance that's amazing. One song called 'anniversary' - is amazing , Ronnies literally telling a woman (conceivably his wife) that she should be honored he cheats on her. Lot of Ronnie's writing involved other people's wives, just noticed...He was Amazing.

Right up front.
No disrespect to Stewart, but he would have been nowhere without Wood, in me humble opinion.
