For a car that barely goes 134 which I think is pretty fast, the handling is fantastic and gas awesome throttle response. I took one over a si civic and it's not the mazdaspeed
the mazdaspeed protege was never boosted that high. factory boost is 7. And that puts out only 170 hp. Also the Protege pretty much ends its run at 134 mph. Its governed and it redlines at about that point. Fun car, but unless you throw in more psi its not too terribly fast.
my friend used to own a 2003.5 mazdaspeed protege, FMIC with 3'' exhaust and CAI, and i was in front everytime we catched up...... but the MSP look and interior still be nice

Spec v are low end torque monsters but got no top. h22 has it all up top. fsde/t all just suck balls. i know i own one and used to own a swapped h22 cb7 accord. even had a qg18de sentra lol(hung with the se-r guys a lot though). that guy driving the prelude doesnt know how to drive

tha was a slow MSP ive raced lots of Nissan s spec V s i havent lost yet the only one that kept up with me was a turbo spec V!!!!! we dyno together and he had 230hp260 tq at11psi i dynoed at 251 300 tq at 19psi,,,,, he had a T3 i had a T25 i Agree the MSP is not very fast out of the box you got to build it to make it fast ,,,
The slowest boost spec v I've ever seen hit around 240whp at 5psi. Most people hit about 300whp at 9psi, on stock block. An 11psi spec v should be hitting above 300whp. Been in the specv game a bit, and that's way to slow. Lol. the MSP do look nice though :P

The mazdaspeed protoges are nice cars but they are kind of low on power for a turbo...example 03 focus svt 170 hp no turbo from a 2.0L. I like the speed 3 and 6 except for the new speed 3 which looks like it has a big smile on the front grill.
That's an MP3 not an MSP. You can tell the difference by the wing. also the MPS is n/a. They didnt start turbocharging these cars till later in the year. But its got damn good suspension for being stock, and i mean DAMN good

@michaelspires Yeah MP3 was just the tokiko suspension, racing beat sway bars and the racing hart rims. Oh yeah and the strut ties. When the car came out, driver magazines loved the suspension setup but said it needed like 30 more hp and thats when the MSP came out with the callaway turbo and side mount intercooler.

Dude those mazdaspeed proteges really do suck balls.. The other night my girlfriend (driving my car) smoked one from a dig 3 times at 3 different lights by at least 3 or 4 lengths and my car is a /non-turbo/ 2000 subaru impreza 2.5rs GC8 five-speed with just a short ram intake, header, stock cat and a 3 inch exhaust.. Im actually still in shock that we won lol ^_^

Man my turboed mp3 same setup as on the mazdaspeed t25 and tuned of course by me and mine eats specV's for lunch keep up with me till second then i'm gone and did three times in a row with two extra people 190lb and 150lb in the car. Can also keep with my buddies turbo cobalt until high 4th which he kills me then...but this should not be happening and no this my motor is not built running stock rods and pistons haha but it doesn't have to be forged just a good tune.

It has a slalom speed of over 70mph, the prelude barely breaks 60mph, both as tested by car and driver. Its actually faster then the integra type r through the slalom. And its a 2850 lb family sedan.

@boresnohcrew actually it does. the stock spec intake is very restrictive with the air flow as does the header. thats an instant 20+HP with all bolt ons. I/H/E and more with the TBB and MMI's. when i had my spec thats all I had and i was keeping up with s2000s. notice i said keeping up.

@boresnohcrew CAI's make a big difference in newer model cars cuz they have so many restrictions with the silencer canisters everywhere. even the protege would feel that much more faster if the turbo could breathe better with new pipes. that right there would make the protege probably faster thatn a spec. and i drive a spec.
