i would not classify the vr5 engine as a V engine based on the vr6 with one less cylinder V engine normal compose of two cylinder heads where the VR only has one two different breeds There are rotary/ wankel inline =most common v-series = most common w-series vr-series i am sure there are more types

as far as i've read on a variaity of forums/magazines it will have a turbo V5 engine, not inline 5, but i might be wrong, tho the golf have a V5 model :)

Odd number of cylinders in "V" shaped engine would throw the crank out of balance and wouldnt be very smooth to drive...how would that even work, 2 on one bank and 3 on the other?...thats 2 different cylinder heads 2 different exhaust manifolds etc...doesnt make much sense now does it? Inline 5 could use ONE cylinder head/Exhaust manifold to save weight and cost.

there is such a thing as a VAG V5 engine.. you find them in things like the passat.

But this engine is the 2.5Liter inline 5.

what others say about being a vr5 is a possibility, remember VR engines act similar to V but with one cylinder head, the pistons are in V position if u look at the crankshaft from the front, but if u llok from the top ull see the pistons are in a sig sag like position, works like a V engine but pistons are not exactly in front of one another, a vr5 youd see the cyliners like a \/\/ a vr6 would be like \/\/\

@Enten901 they have 2 different inline 5's at 2.5L one for the ttrs and the other for base engines in us vw lineup outputting 170hp. The ttrs shares a similar block but with stronger internals and valvetrain as well as direct injection. and they had a 2.2L vr5 back in the past.

My fellow Audi UrS (C4 generation S4/S6) fans can tell you EXACTLY what sort of motor is behind the creation of this gorgeous exhaust note. :) The turbo 5-cylinder is a beautiful thing, and I'm SO glad Audi decided to utilize their newest 2.5-liter 5-cylinder for a serious performance application. A new generation of Audi 5-cylinder fans is about to be "born." :)

Anyways, about the S-tronic gearbox, there are several versions of this, the sturdiest Audi makes today is a 7-gear version that can handle up to 550nm of torque.

More than enough for the TT-RS.

The Lambo's don't have DSG/S-Tronic, but the same as the R-Tronic the R8 has, which is a sequential gearbox. The DSG/S-Tronic is a dual-clutch box. They CAN make stronger boxes, Bugatti Veyron also has a dual-clutch box...

Well i hope you know that the Z4M is almost as fast as the RS4, but the diffirence is that the Z4M well die in a straight line due to small N/A straight six were the RS4 dies a bit slower with its larger and bigger v8 than the Z4M. But eventually Z4M will still hit 300km/h in no time. So how fast do expect the TTrs to be compared to the RS4?

to me, porsche is the best (my dad worked for merc for over 30 years), i love all german cars, but NO car is in the league of porsche in terms of entertainment. the rear engine is good, and think about this: the gt3 rs went through a slalom at 75.6 mph! the same people got 73.4 in the gt-r! jeremy clarkson beat a ferrari f1 test driver in a 360 cs with a 996! and, the diesels, a 1976 merc went 2.8 million miles and theyre getting 50 mpg from e klasse sedan. those germans build great cars.

i don't know. tt looks too girly, r8 is too expensive, a5/s5 is too big for a coupe, it looks like it is missing 2 doors. it looks nice in the pics, but i saw one the other day in the street and i understood that is not a looker. rs4 saloon or cabrio is the right audi. it looks nice it goes like stink and it is beautifully made.
