  • I like how Charlie Brown is saying false information. Linus on the other hand knows everything so I'm sure he's getting it right.

  • M-I-S-S-S-I-S-S-S-I-P-P-I! LOVE IT LMAO

  • Isn't odd how their singing about being asked about edgar allen poe by their teacher and she asks them a math question

  • Huh huh...it took me years to figure out that none of what Charlie Brown says in this song is correct...

  • lol @simondomino if you notice CB starts throwing out classics not written by Poe XD at one point linus stares at him and he gets red

  • WOW!!!!! i never seen charlie brown that smart

  • @simondomino haha, too bad he hasn't said one right thing about Poe

  • I guess they're not going to mention that he was a pedophile and a drug addict :)

  • I sing this song to this day. Whenever I need to remember when he was born or other things about him. Why I need to know is beyond me, but when it comes up I have Peanuts to thank for the answer!

  • Anyone else notice that she seems to spell Mississippi with 6 s's? Oh, that Peppermint Patty.... :)

  • I've got a test on Edgar Allan Poe tomorrow, so I'm gonna remember this song while I take the test! XD

  • Loved it!

  • This would be a good curriculum for studying Edgar Allan Poe.

  • The first time I saw this is when I was 10 I think, and that was the first time I've heard of Edgar Allan Poe. Who says you can't learn anything from Peanuts? XD

  • luck and sally and patty are like Cortney heather and Gwen from tdwt

  • This is what first taught me about Edgar Allan Poe. Whenever someone says his name I start singing this song in my head.

  • i luv this

  • This song is genius! I get to sing this in my school's musical and I am fortunate enough to be...LUCY!!!

  • @BoholPinay me too!

  • This was always my favorite Peanuts song. The way the kids vocalize with one another was very nicely done, and the song itself is great.

  • any chance for a better quality?

  • I'm afraid not.

  • @pixiedreamer13 I have better quality, except its in chinese -.-"

  • We did this play in my hometown in Germany. Our Teacher translated the whole musical. It was so cool. I played Linus!

  • My Middel School Are Doing This Play And I'm Sally

  • Virginia was Edgar Allen Poe's cousin... so GROSS!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this. I used to have a teacher who only called on you WHEN he knew, he lost your attention.

  • my high school is doing this musical, and I'm peppermint patty. I'm so nervous. any tips?

  • I just hope you're a BIIIIIIG Peanuts fan! And if you aren't, become one!

  • from what I can tell, as long as you're not self consious and have a good range, you'll do fine!!

    GOOD LUCK!!

  • @brokenpoet417 my school is doing this, & i'm sally. i've been watching this stuff over and over again to get in my brain. and how fast we have to sing in 'dont be anything less than eerything you can be', i can talk that fast, but not sing it. and that list! oh have mercy!

  • shouldnt charlie brown's mouth be moving at 2:04? lol

  • BAHAHAHHA! i love that song :D

  • I like how stupid Charlie Brown is in this song :-)

  • How dare you call him stupid. Lucy would punch ya if she caught callin him stupid.

  • I can't tell you how many times I've been in that situation about not wanting the teacher to call on me because I don't know anything on a certain topic. I f I had a nickel for every time that happened, I'd be rich by now!

  • M I S S S I S S S I P P I! EDGAR ALLAN POE!

  • this is gonna sound stupid but, OH THAT SALLY! ive been watchin all the people versions and i couldn't figure out who patty wz!

  • haha, i luv it :)

    leo

  • kinda like the stage version better, either that or its just the way Patty spells Mississippi in the stage version. Missssssssipi.

  • Actually I think she was saying, M-I-S-S-then-I-S-S-then-I-P-P-I.

  • i meant on the stage recording. Though funny the original cast album is the london cast, when the actors try to have a long island accent. There she spells it with 8 s's.

  • lol i agree. the long island accents are hilarious. and then occasionally they will say one word totally out of accent.

  • @Pterixa Noo she's saying M-i-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-i-p-i

  • I just love this episode :D

  • lol :)

  • im doing this as a song and dance (@ dancing) as a troupe

  • i LOVE this song, they sang in my school play-thing. :0 p

  • I just LOVE it!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs from this musical :]

  • Pterixa, you have this episode complete? it is so rare, can you upload?

i'm brazilian and Snoopy, The Musical Don't release in here :S

  • As much as I would like to, I'm probably on thin ice enough as it is just having these songs on here. I may get some copyright infringement issues if I uploaded the ENTIRE thing!

  • We're doing this osng in our musical this year and I play Sally Brown! Lol I have to make my voice very squeaky! xD

  • MISSSISSSIPPI! Funny!

In response to the past statements...I honestly don't think that political correctness even has to be applied to this.

This was made before that concept was majorly accepted...many things change, and this was back when people didn't care who didn't know the answers to a test.

Does political correctness have to be applied to everything? Usually it just creates more arguments and more tension. I have seen that all over Youtube. Please don't bring it into Peanuts.

  • Don't worry; one thing I will NEVER EVER put up with is deliberate troublemakers. I only kept that other comment to correct the commentator's statement.

  • How fun! We're doing Snoopy at our local theatre and I'm Linus!

Funny-Everything Charlie Brown says has nothing to do with Edgar Allen Poe

  • Me too! I'm Snoopy :D

  • Linus is a know it all. xD.

  • funny, the guys knew all the answers and the girls didn't. not very politically correct.

  • Actually, only Linus did.

  • Yeah, Charlie Brown only say things that he remebered from the book (and the last night TV comercial)

  • True, Charlie Brown says all these thing s that have nothing to do with Poe. :)

  • what is that first chord????

  • this was my ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG!!!!!!! i love this musical! wow! that brings back memories!!!

  • thank you so much for putting this on cause im in the snoopy musical this has helped me so much =)

  • in the summertime we did snoopy the musical and we sag that and i was an ensemble

  • lol, the answer's 5...8?....83?? how would it be if I spelled Mississippi? M I S S S I S S S I P P I...EDGAR ALLAN POE!

  • When I think of Peanuts, two songs come to mind: Linus and Lucy, and Edgar Allan Poe. Thanks for sharing, but I certainly hope a better quality version surfaces soon!

  • this waS SO FUNNY I REMEBER WATCHIN THIS WITH MY CUZIn!

  • I got the dvd for this in poundland :D

  • Glad I found this!

I bought a CD of the London Cast Recording a long time ago, and loved this song, but the male vocalists were so similar that I had no clue Linus was giving correct facts and Charlie Brown was giving incorrect ones...

Now, the next time I listen to the CD, it'll make sense! ^_^

  • i know how you feel. i am doing this in a play, and they gave me a CD, and the people sounded so different.

  • im charlie brown in this and this is gonna be so much funnn!!

  • cool! good luck! i am in this as Lucy :D

  • for all of those who dont' get it charlie brown is sayign all the wrong answers, linus (of course) knows all bout it, and the girls are all worried that the teacher will call on them.

  • anddd the reason lucy is scared is because she doesn't want the world to know that she doesn't know as much as she lets on.

  • I love this musical! My family has it on an old tape, but it's dying. Badly.

  • Replace it with a DVD

  • Thanks for posting this up - I heard this ONCE at the age of ten and have been looking for it ever since!

  • DICKENS' CHRISTMAS CAROL! Pfftahahaha. <3

  • my favourite ever! beautiful

  • I created a midi file of this and put it up on Hamienet. I love this song! I directed this number for my drama touring group in High School.

  • Oh lord...this song comes up quite often when I'm facing a hard class.

  • I was the director for this in my theater group. I've always adored this song! I created a midi file arrangement from the sheetmusic too!

  • thats not how you spell Edgar Allen Poe. or Mississippi, for that matter.

  • 1. False. It's Allan.

    2. That's part of the joke, genius.

  • 1. it doesn't spell that either.

    2. this is why i wish i could do audio comments. in the sarcastic voice i thought to say that in, it was pretty obvious it was a joke. though, why would i say something like that seriously?

  • (This is my new account, as Guyguypants was actually my brother's and I was using it)

    1. Huh?

    2. I repeat, huh?

  • i mean that i know 'Mississippi' doesn't spell 'Edgar Allan Poe' and when i commented on it (negative rating!?), i was making a joke. you know, for humor. i guess it went over your head. or under, but that would've hit you in the neck or chest. hard to ignore an impact there, unless its intangible, as jokes are (except slap-stick), that was probably it: it got you but, not being made of matter, didn't register with your nerves. so, its the rules of physics' fault, really.

  • i'm pretty sure that's how you spell his name and peppermint patty isn't exactly the smart one so it was intentional that she spelled mississippi wrong

  • We just did You're a Good Man Charlie Brown at my school and this one like ten years ago!

  • they did this play at our college last year... it shows how much our college is willing to spend on its theatrical productions. it was really good, though.

  • I haven't seen this in years. It's still not on DVD. I think people would buy it if it was in a modern format again (I even got the live CD from the show).

  • I think they should put Snoopy: The Musical and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown together on a DVD. I know I would buy it.

  • i heard this is 2nd grade and its back MEMORIES!!

  • same here, but every so often, out of the blue, i remember it. about perfectly, it seems.

  • Oh wow... I also remember watching this special when I was really little! My class rented it from the library a few times when we had free periods with nothing to do. I love this special and, coincidentally, this is my favorite Peanuts song! Thanks for posting it.

Wish this special was on DVD or Amazon VOD... I'd buy it.
