I have just discovered this version of the song. I knew the Turkish version, but apparently, the Greek version is the original one.
And those who are arguing, the melody; the region has been intertwined for nearly a thousand years, how can you separate the two? and why would you? Enjoy the song, and somebody write in English, who wrote this song.

The style you hear nowadays in modern Turkey and the Arabian countries has it's roots in Greek Byzantine music. The tonal ladders you hear in Turkey and middle eastern countries was introduced by the Arabs who copied and adapted it from Greek Byzantine music. the truth is i think both greek and turkish music style were heavily inspired by arabian sytyle during ottoman empire.
but these inspirations between different cultures and styles make music more fantastic.without greek style turkish style is missing and on the contrary greek music is missing without turkish style likewise.
