At first I didn't feel like I was listening to music. I felt like I was listening to sound. Now I feel like I'm not listening to sound, but listening to the birth and life of the Universe.
When i listen to this song, i close my eyes, and my imagination takes me away to a parallel universe. One where i am at peace, one where i have good times and bad. And when i finally open my eyes, i feel refreshed, peaceful. And so really, by listening to BoC, i can make the parallel universe the same as mine - peaceful.
When I hear this, I think of after working on a hot roof on a high rise or something, just sitting back back with my buds, drinking some cold ones, and thinking, "Wow.......look at it all......life is beautiful."
I sat in my car at my father's wake with my older sis and we quietly listened to this...we both found it very soothing and serene in a way that was needed on that day...thank you, BoC.
This song almost gets a different perspective completely if you consider the background voices as simply a part of the song.
Try it, it's kind of cool... just think of yourself detached from the audience, viewing both them and the music together as one entity. Amazing what a complex range of emotions a song can stir up.
I love "heard from telegraph lines" and Echus is in that style but with voices. So for my taste it sounds better without them. You still can download the original. Who says, you have to download my version? ;D
I made a second edit of Echus and cut away the annoying voices. It's downloadable as 320k mp3 on megaupload. You'll find the link in the description. :)
@bennicoke That's pretty cool, I honestly like the voices though.
It's probably cliche to associate BoC with childhood memories but that's what I get from this, I think of my grandfather's old place in Oklahoma and picture being in the bed in the back room late at night, everything warm, light and voices from the hallway spilling in, the adults are all still awake and talking.
@davidevgen No, not for this song. It's from All Tomorrow's Parties 2001 but on the CD release is only the BoC Song In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country.
@bennicoke Hi ! This music is so great ! As megaupload is gone now could you give us a new link to download the song you remastered ? Many many Thanks in advance.
I absolutely love BoC, and I hate to dampen this song for anyone by making this comparison, but this track sounds like an ambient, spaced out version of "Leader of men" by Nickelback. Now I really hate that trashy, sellout band, but I'm really glad that chord sequence has been used for something good ^^^ some sounds have great potential, they just go to waste when bands like Nickelfuck use them :P
this is so fucking beautiful. Maybe all the corrupt politicians and heartless corporations could go take a 2 hour walk in the woods with this song on loop. I bet they couldn't help but change for the better....
@justinianianian I can see a really cool music video idea coming out of that thought of yours. Thats so cool you said that. They go contemplate life, their lives, their families lives, our lives, the lives of innocent animals who don't deserve to be scared and torn from their families & hurt & possibly killed by a nuclear bomb... & the politicians & corporations come back from the woods, etc. with a whole new spirit & outlook & hearts & then a fat BoC type beat kicks in & everyone gets along!!
@QUIZFILTER & damn, I just rea your other comment about the cliffs of Dover & crying & now I'm getting emotional, though I already was when writing my 1st comment. Fuck! :) & when I mentioned the innocent animals it made me remember these commercials that we Americans see on TV about adopting homeless animals & seeing their scared worried faces looking at the camera & they're shivering probably because they'd been beaten & wondering if thats what the camera mans going to do... now I'm crying.
& I can't stop listening to this track its so amazingly beautiful. Very emotional for me, but calming at the same time. Something about this is very amazing.
@iestooo I actually did this on the cliffs of dover in england. I started to cry out of the sheer swelling of emotions from the crashing waves, the rolilng clouds, and all the tiny people below getting on the ferry to france....
if I was almost certain I was going to commit suicide, this would be the only place I'd know where to go. Either way it tells me would be the right decision
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
I listen to this almost daily. Its like sitting somewhere very high up on a hot night in summer, and a cool breeze caresses your bare shoulders and sends a shiver down your spine. You are alive and at peace. What a beautiful life this is.
@splittermusik The difference is that you dont hear as much of the people in the crowd shouting like drunken when they should be quietly appreciating this beautiful piece.
lol life isn't beautiful at all. Why don't you go to Sudan and then tell me if life is beautiful. Visit the homeless people each day that don't know if they will survive the next day. Life is very chaotic and is a piece of shit.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Beautiful music, and I must say that I love the pictures on your flickr account. It makes me want to buy a decent camera and figure out how to use it.
I thought voices are part of the track, they fit well, they sound like some parts from memories...
