This Doctor is great. I never seen him except for these youtube clips. He reminds me of Det. Columbo, pretending to be less intelligent for public appearances, then allowing his brilliance to come forward upon solving problems. What a great actor.
Indeed. And you spotted it perfectly! See, back then, Patrick was as famous & veteran as Alec Guiness. Many still believe that Pat only accepted it because he was either a clandestine Fan of the series itself, or wanted a challenge.
It would be as if we got Gene Wilder 2 play the Dr now! There was only 3 Interviews with PAt too, he was a Mysterious man in Real life. His are the best stories by far. The Moonbase, Fury from Deep, Power of Daleks, etc. All Destroyed. What a Shame don't you think?
I remember this being broadcast...funny, but now it all looks so...crummy. But at the time through my 6 year-old eyes, I thought it was quite incredible. The storylines back then seemed to have more 'heart'...as for whether the Emperor Dalek in POTW, who knows? The trouble with Dr Who is that they have on many occasions been quite disloyal to old episodes - the original Dalek story, which included an account of how they came to inhabit machines does not tie in with Genesis of the Daleks story
Luckytardis - aka TardisNo13, who had your account blocked, - your a fine one to talk! You just copy stuff off over people. And ILLEGALLY rip DVD's onto the internet.
The only Hartnell dalek story that survived completely en tact is Masterplan. But unfortunately that's by far the best of the lot. Thanks again docredfield, this is the best recon I've ever seen. It's untoppable! :)
saddly the bbc decided back in 1971(when clouor was introduced to the uk in full) to get rid of most of there black and white films and video tape,as they reasoned that no one would want to see them...strangely from time to time the odd one turns up but after all these years the missing ones are still missing... if any one has any info on any of the missing shows please tell the BBC...
I read somewhere that chronologically, this battle took place right at the end of the the time War, though the Doctor didnt know it at that time. Surviving this incident, the emperor lead his entire force of Loyalist Daleks against Galifrey itself.
Interesting hyopthesis, which would fill some big plot holes in the history. It would also answer the question of whether the Parting of the Ways emperor was the same one. I doubt they'll ever give a definitive confirmation of that in any of the "canonical" stories. But here's hoping they do.
Sure, the new DW is different but there's no way it would have gotten a second season if it didn't update its general strategy:which was make it for a 21st century audience. Next, you'll be saying they should have put an older man to play the Doctor....
Makes me mad to think what the beeb did to this story and many of the Troughton stories.Must go down as the all time favourite Dalek story ever, shame all episodes wiped supposedly apart from ep 2.
Great ending to a truly classic story! Unlike many of the formulaic plots of the era, this is a real character drama with a great concept with it...like Kinda or Warrior's Gate, but with Daleks. Amazing writing for the 60s period. Positronic brains, child-like Daleks, the Doctor experimenting on Jamie...wow!
Fuckin wikkid! I'll agree, but I'll up the superlatives since this sadly never aired stateside. This and/or masterplan is the greatest Dr. Who story of all. And yes the recon is super. This story is WAY ahead of its time and Troughton is clearly a close 2nd best doctor to Baker, but with better stories. Thanks so much!
no dont think so i think alot of there 1st and 2nd doctor who reels of tape were just too old or were destroyed in a fire is what i herd but they should just take the scripts and re do them
Picture this: The BBC areplnning new shows, problem is, they don't have tapes. Then they have the most horrifying plan ever: They tape over doctor who and others.
What a great job of reconstruction! I had no idea there were any surviving scenes of Episode 7 of "Evil of the Daleks," which to my mind is the greatest Dr. Who story of all time. It was a great pleasure to view scenes of the climactic Dalek civil war for the first time since I saw the original broadcasts in 1967-68, at the age of 6! Well done!
Excellent work!

It is true what they say about the Doctor, at times he can be ruthless.
The 2nd Doctor manipulating the human factor Daleks into death, pretty ruthless to me!
stewiegriffin1963 3 years ago
yes but what sort of a life would the edited daleks have anyway? they would ask too

The first ever story exists The Daleks - On VHS & DVD in the box set called The Biggining.
The Dalek Invasion of earth Is also on DVD.
The Chase is rare but on VHS, 3 Episodes of the Daleks Master Plan are availible on Lost in Time DVD.
The real bad thing is that only 1 episode of Patrick Troughtons Era is intact on the Lost in Time DVD. 1 Episode from The Evil of the daleks.
As for power of the Daleks.. Gone foreva. Get back to me if u have anymore questions.

The people & the robots are screwed up again in this film clip, at least part of it.
So even in the old b/w films the daleks had an Emperor over them.
