  • YYEEESSSS!!!

  • I met Long John Baldry in his later life. Watched him live on stage, then sat with him and John McCloud, the composer of let the heartaches begin, a moment I will always treasure as a young teenager I would listen to this record over and over again.

  • Thumbs up if you got here because of Robotnik's heartaches

  • * * * * *

  • oozes class just the voice and those lyrics

  • Hey, Robotnik is thin!!!

  • I have no trouble admitting that I came here because of Robotnik, but I have loved this song ever since I heard it first. R.I.P., Mr. Bauldry.

  • I really LOVE this song. Great voice!

  • I don't know why I like this song. I heard a clip on a Punch Out Wii Clip someone made.

  • my very favourite then and still, l would play it on the jukebox each time I visited a cafe, now it on my mp3

  • Thumbs up if you read about him in Paul O'Gradys book.

  • King of blues!

  • Remembering Long John Baldry today: Jan.12, 1941 - July 21, 2005

  • so let the PINGAS begin

  • OK, who other then me wants to punch EVERY. Single. Person who said Pingas on this video?

  • He was getting a Promotion!

  • So what if he's queer.

It makes his role as Ivo all the better.

    Segnip

  • CLASSIC ,

  • RIP John, superb song, and great memories you inspire.

  • Very nice but Larry Shannon sings this one better too !!

  • I knew Long John when he performed at The Talk of the Border Club in Carlisle he was amazing...also loved Andy...RIP xoxox

  • Who knew Dr. Robotnik could sing!

  • I think that if Long John Baldry were alive today, he would piss himself laughing over the whole PINGAS meme.

  • i love the way the girls dance in this video. So innocent, kind, and appealing =[

  • @code13bmb They were in the 60's, so different. Then they all had to get jobs to pay the mortgage and started buying their own drinks. No more Babycham they were sort of free and were becoming more like the male in thought. Happy days.

  • @TheDavidjoy i was born in the wrong time period....

  • Does anyone know about what year this was done.

  • @merkinracing 1968 i do believe

  • excellent, thanks.

  • he looks like william haigh with hair!

  • PINGAS!

  • RIP Robotnik

  • the cat brings me to this vid~

  • T_T

  • Love...Twas only but a dream...

  • He doesn't sing as good as scatman john but he sings good

  • the same time Long JOhn Sang This - Over the Pond in Florida a couple Brothers were performing in small clubs & for High School Dances in local Armoury Buildings known as the Allman Joys they would go on to become the Allman Brothers

  • @rentatrip1 . Funny that a guy names Reg played piano on this and co wrote the bside. he later went solo - and used a stage name he would eventually legally become. These days he is known as Elton John. Mind you Allman Brothers were good at times - and I think pursuning his own career was an inevitable thing but selling out madison Sq multi times. thats a feat.

  • Not only could he sing, but he also spoke German and Robotnik.

  • Not apparently gay, he was gay. This was common knowledge in Liverpool in the sixties where he performed regularly. A great vocalist.

  • the 90s would not be the 90s without this perfect man

  • Remembering the great Long John Baldry today: Jan 12th, 1941 - July 21, 2005.

    Happy Celestial Birthday Mr. Baldry!

  • 8 people did not get a PRRRROMOTION

  • I checked wikipedia, Apparently he's gay :( he did have a great robotnik voice though

  • That's an explanation ?????

  • Could someone explain the pingas thing please?

  • @daven58100 Baldry voiced Dr. Robotnik in a Sonic the hedgehog cartoon, then a youtube pooper named "stegblob" Used it in "Dr robotnik gets aids" (I think thats the title) Took a sentance where Robotnik says "Snooping as usual I see" and made Pingas which abruptly sounds like penis and thanks to stegblob's contribution, youtube poopers have been using it multiple times. Youtube poop is an art of comedy where people mix sentances and videos together to create insane comedy.

  • @antisadism Thanks for your time and explanation.

  • Hes singing this song about how he'll never live down the Pingas incident.

Oh wait, he didnt. He died.

  • He thought up a plan to take advantage of this unexpected turn of events.

  • Did Long John get married to Rod Steward about winter 1968?

  • the blond girl with loong blond hair and looking very innocent i adore

  • He finally got the PRRRRRRROMOTION to a higher place.

  • R.I.P. Long John Baldry.

    Rest in PINGAS.

  • I could really picture this in a David Lynch film.

  • Sounds like the kind of thing that might play ironically during a murder scene in a David Lynch film.

  • pingas

  • PINGAS

  • RIP Doctor Robotnik

  • ROBOTNIK: BEFORE THAT PESKY HEDGEHOG

  • snooPING AS usual, I see

  • Why does Mike Pollock(Eggman's Current VA) Keeps immitating Long John?

  • RIP Long John Baldry.

    PINGAS!

  • sinGING AS usual I see.

  • Thumbs up if you think Baldry was the best Robotnik, and no one else is worthy to voice him.

  • And he'd still be around if it wasn't for that meddling hedgehog...

  • May he rest in pin-- i mean peace.

  • it was early in his career.

  • Singing as Usual i see?

  • Sounds a lot like Fretkillr

  • He deserves a prrrrrrrromotion.

  • Jazz, personified!! He hated that song, Let the Heart Aches begin. Just NOT him.

  • hes......NOT BALD OMFG!

  • R.I.P. Long john Baldry

  • He's a great singer, but after Robotnik, I just can't take him seriously XD

  • The fact that he was openly gay brings an all new meaning to "PINGAS."

    RIP you magnificent voice. :(

  • It's sort of sad all these younguns commenting on what a revelation it is to them that LBJ could sing. All they know is some silly Mr. Robot cartoon and a dirty word in Spanish. Now listen children 'cause I'm only saying this once.......DON'T TRY TA LAY NO BOOGIE WOOGIE ON THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL !

  • @redtony58 no no, LJB played the character 'Dr. Robotnik' in the 1990s cartoon 'The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog', despite the cartoon's target demographic of children, it's predominant fanbase is compused primarily of older teenagers, who enjoyed, and playfully satirised his flamboyant representation of a classic villain. The fandom of LJB's Robotnik mainly stems from the phrase 'Pingas' a meme created when people edited the overexaggerated part of the quote "SnooPING AS usual, I see..."

  • @redtony58

This phrase gained great responce form the humour loving denizens of the web, primarily because, well, it sounds like Penis... that, coupled with the HILARIOUS over the top nature of the character presented by LJB is what makes people so interested in Long John outside of his main fanbase, and as such, I can DEFINITELY say that this is most probably the SINGLE greatest man that EVER lived...

  • @redtony58 what TheEnchantedCereal said, but like you know, pingas is a spanish word for penis. but seriously, im still a kid only 14, but i agree, these kids HAVE to stop with this dirtyness. its a great song and we shouldnt bring LJB down because he made a mistake ONCE in his life. so yes, i agree completely.

  • @thematrix9852 Thanks for your reply. It's just sort of childish. What bugs me is that LJB was so much more. This song was when they were trying to market him a la Tom Jones, but he was a GREAT blues man. Check out his album It ain't easy and there are a couple of versions of flying on the tube

  • @redtony58 yes your right. he voiced in a good cartoon, made some of the greatest songs ever, and in general, was one of the most productive and greatest men ever. and how is pingas even funny? its a reproductive organ, not a comedy shtick. and this is one of the best songs on my list, and sure, ill check out the albums. thanks.

  • @thematrix9852 PINGAS isnt a mistake. its one of the best things that happened in his career. if it wasnt for pingas i would have never found this amazing song, also without pingas about 273638 youtube videos (including poops) would never have been invented. So pingas was a great thing.

  • @devinisacoon look buddy, im not saying pingas should die, im saying that john shouldve been recognized for his real talent. not for mistakenly saying penis in spanish. so, in my conclusion, its great that john is famous, but im sure it wouldnt be great to be recognized for saying penis.

  • @thematrix9852 Actually, pingas is "dicks" in Spanish. Try it on Google translator.

  • @thematrix9852 LGB is recognized for his voice and the drama he puts into everything, including a reaction to people who snoop as usual

  • @thematrix9852 I want to find that bastard and rip his intestines out through his nose.

  • He was also Gavin in Reboot.

  • PINGAS!

  • British music rocks

  • Awesome! I'd date him!

  • who knew he was robotnik

  • Snoo Pingas Usual icee?

  • This guy also played the pirate captain in Reboot.

  • Thank you stegblob for letting us honor this man.

  • Wow ultimate song. Great voice actor and singer.

  • Snooping as usual I see! This man is fucking awesome. He deserves a PRRRRROMOTION!

  • That is incredible to have been so close, through your father. Did you dad give any insight into the Man?

  • My dad used to knock around with Long John in 60's London, think they shared a house together for a while. Weirdly he ended up in Northamptonshire later in life only a few miles away from where Long John was born.

He was also about a foot shorter than Long John, and called John. Maybe he was Short John :P

  • One of our Great singers!!!!

  • If Long John Baldry were alive today, what do you think he'd say about the whole PINGAS meme?

  • Comment removed

  • @Tyranogre He'd write a song in wich he'd PRRRRRROMOTE everyone who loves him and his magnificent music. Give out PRRRRRRRRRRRRROMOTIONS like candy.

  • I had forgotten all this artist & this song. So glad that it came to mind 7 that i can listen again to a great voice & song. Great talent sadly missed!

  • Pingas forever. Baldry has been immortalized by the Robotnik character and will never be forgotten.

  • Oh my god, I never, ever would have thought the voice actor for Doctor Robotnik was such a good singer...

  • Tremendous, I saw John with Paul Jones and the Mannfreds 3 to 4 years ago, brilliant. Never really appreciated him until then. Very sad.
