Hi. I only know enough Spanish to get my face slapped but to answer what I believe your question is, Dad got out of Spain by joining the U.S.Navy at the tail end of World War II. He and his older brother visited the American Consulate in Bilbao to get that ball rolling. He was stationed on a Liberty Ship and was crossing the Atlantic when the war ended so, thankfully, he didn't see any combat.

I don't think so, but I can ask. I've never had much contact with the family. Did your grandmother grow up in Spain around the same time? 1920s-'40s
