22,222 views should be 222,222,222,222, simply sinister song with a nice, punchy baseline, but the reason this song has so few views is because it does not conform, the very topic of the song itself.
I absolutly adored this album and this song when it first came out. To this day, the building anger and volume in the song is a priceless example of how artists can give voice to our frustration and rage!
xtc could make statements like this without looking like pompous twits like the way overplayed pink floyd on the same record helicopter ten feet tall and complicated game and roads girdle the globe. now thats creative!
@aebugsbunny I'm a big floyd fan but your right, animals and the wall were made about the same time album debuted. floyd had all ready made their best stuff 4 years earlier.
i have been a huge dukes of stratospheare and xtc fan since black sea, yet i have never listened to this album until today at this moment in 2011, and i'm melting about what i have missed... but omg to hear this for the first time in this complicated year of our Lord... Everything is melting!
This would have to be my 80's signature track....it pretty well summed up my youth at that point.....and you know what? It's just a complicated game.....still.
A supremely angst ridden song, building up tension all the way up to a climax that sounds like a nervous break down, and then everything just falls apart..
my brother and talked about music me and my only sister here w/me on earth we found him,,,that was the day the our ,our un- raveled!!! kinda too good 4 this world (like I said (you cannot have your own opinion) r.i.p love,victoria&c-moon....
@rocketssg Yeah, my rather large vinyl collection is in an attic in Leicester while enjoy life the other side of the world. One day, in my old age, I shall play them all again and think myself lucky I lived through the golden age of' 'pop'
WAY OVERLOOKED WHEN I HEARD DEAR GOD I WAS SOOOO HAPPY TO HEAR AN IRISH MAN DEFENDING THE TRUE ORDER.......OF THE CHURCH.......I WAS ALWAYS AN OUTSIDER I REMEMBER WEARING A PRETTY OUTFIT AND WALKING IN CHURCH AND EYES ON ME(WHY) I WAS THERE FOR ONE PURPOSE...AND TO PRAY WELL I LEARNED IIS A COMPLICATED GAME......I WAS BORN W/A CROWN OF THORNS TOO PRETTY,PALE, MY OWN VIEWS...SORRY MY GOD IS CELESTIAL.....
after reading the lyrics, i can say with confidence that i could readily get fucked up listening to this song and doing something i might regret = rock n roll
I love PIL,Killimg Joke, The Fall, JOY Division, Bowie, The Velvet Underground but have always followed XTC since 1977. Brilliant song, love them for their total their sound.
@warhols25 hear hear. the kids try to revolt, and the silent majority watch jeremy fucking kyle and pour scorn on them. a week later they want us to support the war on terror in libya and syria. yeah, right.

I would choose XTC and Floyd with many drugs any day

This group is why I love alternative music. If I was ever stranded on a desert island I would choose XTC and Floyd over drugs any day.

The form of this song is brilliantly suited to its subject. That's the genius of this band.

Surreal Partridge composition. He adds to his own brilliant lyrics with an emotionally-charged vocal performance.

Crushing commentary on this goddamn contemporary conformist society, simultaneously the best song by this underrated band from UK. Period.
