  • Jesus fuck, I thought -Mozart- wrote this version. Thought it was nice - you know, for Mozart. Then obviously found out it was Schubert's version, here. Well, that makes more sense now.

  • lo máximo , de ensueño

  • Really nice rendition of Schubert in Latin...until that flourish at the end...screechy.....hit it down during the last 2 - 3 seconds, keep the rest!

  • Adoro harpa, pena que não tenho dinheiro pra comprar uma !

  • goosebumps...i love the song

  • I sing this at church time to time but much deeper voice. I am a bass baritone but learned tenor, which is at full voice not falsetto. The church gets me, I guess?

  • น่าฟังจังเลย

  • Love it

  • Phantastic voice. I love it! So clear so pure and hitting all the notes perfectly. Super. And wonderful harp sound too. Greetings Dieter

  • Wonderful, i like the harp sound! Greetings from Germany! Dieter

  • Oh my goodness....so beautiful!!

  • angel?

  • amazing...

  • I am not a fan of her vibrato and her last note was strained and off. Nice harp playing though.

  • wow she sings so amazing im thinking about trying out to be an opera singer i want to so bad

  • @BONYskeloTON234 Good luck!!! It is really a huge undertaking!!! I am training in opera now. It will be hours of warming up and practicing everyday, studying foreign languages, voice lessons, technique, performance, artistry..... I wish you the best of luck and happy holidays!!!!

  • now that is talent

  • An Angel's Voice with an Angel's Harp.

  • Que bella la canción me emociona escucharla.

  • A multi-talented girl. I was wondering what chopin op 10 no 1 would sound like on a harp ( might have to be electrified). I mean the piece is made for Harpeggios. LOL

  • its funny reading the "her voice sounds too old fashioned" comments. Like, how easy is it to update singing something half in Latin? jeez, she plays the harp AND sings soprano at the same time? this could have been far worse if you think about it.

  • Ave Maria, gratia plena. Maria, gratia plena Maria, gratia plena Ave, ave dominus, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, Et benedictus Et benedictus fructus ventris, Ventris tui, Jesus. Ave Maria.
  • wonderful!

  • OMG!!!That's more than perfect!!!Blessed be!

  • M gusta que pueda tocar y cantar a la vez

pero abre muy poco la boca para cantar :S

  • maravilhosoooooooooooooo

  • Non mi piace affatto la suo voce ne anche troppo al antica!

  • @walchiria08 I aggreew ith you 100% I too do not like her type of voice. it is also very olf fashioned style of singing.

  • Sorry dont like her voice too oldfashioned!!!!

  • Very musical arrangement and performance.

  • MARAVILLOSA !!!!!!!!!!

  • 10!

but i think more audio for harpa. kiss!

  • She is absolute talented. Wow. God is nice to her, gave her gifts of talents.

  • Very, very rare to find one who has expertise in harp & singing like this!

  • Her voice is oddly touching.

  • @walchiria08 : It's Schubert, not Verdi! And overall it's a prayer, not an operistic aria.

  • Gorgeous...Divine...

  • Perfect!

  • awsome

  • P-e-r-f-e-c-t-i-o-n

  • Very old fashioned and the accompaniment not in tune!!! Out of tune as well sorry. Too much vibrato!!!

  • My choir is singing this for Christmas

  • Parole pasticciate.... peccato

  • wow! I wish I could play the harp AND sing! That has got to take some concentration...

  • muy bonita interpretacion, hermosa entonacion en el arpa lo maximo. que dios te bendiga

  • Before you past judgment, make sure you can back yourself up with something even better! Where's your Ave Maria video?

  • Comment removed

  • Lets be fair now, apples is an entirely different subject to voice. I will watch the video recommended though.

  • Do you have any idea how hard it is to simultaneously play the harp and sing with as wonderful a voice as she has...simply magnificent!

  • Two words. Renee Fleming.

Oh and look, if I want to prove myself, I will. But to you, someone who's ear is finely tuned to this, monstrosity...if I can be bothered.

But I'll be sure to let you know first when I do

    :D

  • I listened to it. and while she sings it beautifully and all that, have come to the conclusion that you are very narrow minded. Just because someone doesn't sound like an opera star when they sing doesn't mean they sing through their nose. While I agree there shes not the best, it seems you need to understand there are other kinds of voices out there.

  • I've just worked too hard to be told by people like you that I don't know what I am talking about. She is better, much better, because she has worked hard and it shows. And she has a gift. Renee Fleming is not an opera star because she sings through her nose.

  • Why am I narrow minded because I voiced my own opinion you didn't like. You don't see me commenting on anyone else who said they think it was 'beautiful'. Because I don't agree with, your trying to tell me I'm narrow minded, look in the mirror fool before you judge me.

Oh, and she STILL sings through her nose. What an ejitt...

  • Whoa now. The only reason I replied to you was NOT because you had a condradicting opinion. It was because you were saying something that just wasn't true. I think we both know that. Personally I think she was lacking backspace and needed to scoop down a bit further in herself. But the problem wasn't her nose.

  • Take a step back for once and think about how your first comment looked at first. And I wasn't saying that this recording was better than renee's by any means. I thought this recording was painful to listen to and she totally buchered the end. I thought Renee Fleming was amazing. She was perfect. But thing is I never even compared the two in my last comment. You might want to read these things the whole way through before you pounce trying to prove your superiority.

  • But you did are you even listening to yourself. Superior? No, but I'm sure you do feel a little stupid. You DID compare them You used the fact that one is in comparison to the other, how can i say this, under par. I've been thinking about recording again for ages and I'll make sure Ave Maria is on there for you.

I will only say this one last time,

she sings through her nose. Period. End of. Thats my opinion stop trying to tell me otherwise.

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • Hermosa voz tiene

    me encanto mucho!!

  • A mi realmente me encantó. No es cierto que cante con su nariz. Quien opinó eso no creo que sepa mucho de canto.

    Excelente voz

  • Schubert would now like to pretend that he didn't write this song thanks to this

  • I agree. Whole heartedly.

  • she sings through her nose

  • I suggest you listen to Bonneys interpretation and also Kiri Te kanawa's version of this piece of Lieder.

  • Amazing!

  • Very nice. I'm a harp lover but I never heard anyone sing this well and play. Impressed!

  • Beautiful execution of work. I am under impression.

  • very good performing, i liked, cheerio...

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • sounds so good, a bit like sarah brightman

  • Absolutely Gorgeous...song, singer, and harp!

  • That was beautiful!!

Talento así hay mucho y nadie lo reconoce!!!

  • I can't even play the guitar and sing at the same time.

  • Thanks

    Awesome...

    The Wizard of BODacious

  • estimado amigo, muchas gracias por compartir esta maravilla. Es realmente conmovedora y alimenta y llena el espíritu. Cordialmente, Chien

  • lindo !!! Maravilhoso !!!! May she bless you always.

  • allora prova tu a suonare l arpa ecantare...è chiaro che viene meno l intonazione e il fiato

then you try to play the harp ecantare ... it is less clear that the pitch and the wind

  • @ pollicina2009: I actually do play the harp. I don't sing with it though and I am sure it is very difficult.

But I think it should be possible for someone to have an opinion about her voice. Too much vibrato for my taste and to many ups and downs. I just don't like it.

  • hmmm the song its in latin...

  • You have such a beautiful voice!!

  • some violin axent would add?

    all an all beautiful!

  • So Beautiful:)

    :)

  • The words Ave Maria in the song may have led to the idea of adapting Schubert's melody as a setting for the full text of the traditional Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. The Latin version of the Ave Maria is now so frequently used with Schubert's melody, that it has led to the misconception that he originally wrote the melody as a setting for the Ave Maria.

The song became popular again when it was used in the movie HITMAN search Ave Maria - Christina England Hale (Hitman 2007)

  • Indeed Shubert created melodic line over the Preludium of J.S.Bach. At time it was used and was considered as Honor.

Words are not the same of the latin pray: Ave Maria at all, indeed. It's just an Ave Maria ( that literally means from Latin: Hello Maria ) with words written by Shubert ;-)

  • @anonymouscdj

Ave Maria means Hail Mary in Latin and was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825.The song is often called Schubert's Ave Maria.

The song was originally a poem from Sir Walter Scott epic poem The Lady of the Lake.

In Scott's poem the "Lady of the Lake" & her father hide in a cave to avoid the vengeance of the King on their friend, who has been giving them shelter since their exiled. She sings a prayer to the Virgin Mary, calling upon her for help to protect her friend.

  • nice, touching.... thank you !

  • Strange...I was raised in the Methodist church, I performed Ave Maria several times to an appreciative, tolerant, devout congregation. We are all God's children, and blessed are we when we share our God given talents to bless and nurture faith with music. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

  • 'prper'

    XD!

  • O, crap. XD Good god, how ironic.

  • WOW! I am harpist and a singer and it never even crossed my mind to do them both at once!

    MAJOR PROPS!!!!!!!

I dunno how she multitasks like that so beautifully? gorgeous voice to boot!(last note a little harsh but....we all have little slips =]) I should attempt this!!!! any idea where i can get this harp music??

  • I'm here, listening to this rendtion, even though I'm a Methodist.

I'm not here for the lyrics, I'm here for Schubert's music.

Thank you for posting this video up, Cherub!

    ~Eva

  • Hi. I dont know much about this song or methodist or Catholic religions.Could someone tell me about the two and how this song relates. I dont get why a few people put that they were Methodist but they still listened to it. Are they allowed to? can someone answer.

  • Its a ispirational composition that crosses all Religion,it's a woman and a father that have been in Exile and forced to live in a cave, pleads to the virgin Mary for help

  • seriously, just appreaciate her talent and dont get huffy about her religion.

  • Haha, I guess i'm the only Athiest commenting on this video, at least without shoving it down other peoples' throats...

Absolutely beautiful. How someone could focus on playing such a difficult instrument and simultaeneously producing such a fantastic soprano, I will probably never know. I can hardly begin to express my utmost admiration.

  • Thank you Marsha for your voice, your harp, and for lighting a candle to Virgin Mary. Please, protestants, refrain from commenting on this, it simply isn't for you.

  • We agree to disagree, for the peace of Youtube. If anyone wants to blackmail me or discuss theology and doctrines and dogmas of the Roman Catholic church, feel free to message me.

  • Also comments like I respect others belief as long as...(fill in what ever rubbish you believe everyone else should see your way) is not respect at all. Thats like saying your right as long as you agree with me.

  • If you want to discuss biblical translations, that a different matter. I have recently been debating on a message board about this so I'm primed and ready for that debate. The Noah's Ark discovery I'm speaking of has never been proven to be a hoax. But what about the discovery of Nineveh and the sulfur at the bottom of the Dead Sea?

When did Jade say anything about his own works? He's plainly stated that Jesus did it all. Just tell me where the Bible says to ask any saint to pray for me!?

  • And with all of human fallibility you choose to believe thy fellow man. Many a thing so claimed by man to be true in one era has bee proven false in another. Perhaps you read too much into things. In any case, the Noah's Ark discovery has also never been proven true. Insuffient evidence. Nineveh was only proven to be a city that exisited and was BELIEVED to be Nineveh. No real evidence confirms its name. Even if it did so what? No historical facts prove that what was said happened.

  • All of you please be quiet and enjoy this beautiful music. No matter what religious views you have.

  • mary went through quite a bit of giref through her life as weell... could u imagine watching ur sion be butally murdered in fron of your eyes and there was nothin u could do about it....

    watch passion of the christ

  • sure...ignore the fact that she has an excellent and very clear soprano voice AND she is singing while playing one of the more difficult musical instruments.

Let's have a theological discussion instead!!!

Christians are so typical. Believe me, I am one and sometimes my bretheren and sisteren just make my soul hurt.

    This woman is awesome.

  • Sorry about the raving hotwaiter. Personally I agree with you. I usually don't post all this. Just that some people just believe that their view is the only view that exist.

Last post of mine on this.

And yes. It is a very beautiful song. Lets all appreciate it for that.

  • Thank You for posting this song, and may GOD Bless You & Be Peace with You, Amen.

  • Thanks, m1garand00, that's very true.

    Your post=true in every detail.

  • how about pray to NEITHER since NEITHER existed. stop peddling your Jesusware on youtube. no one wants to read it.

  • I'm not sure that your broad generalization is true - I suspect there are several people at least on Youtube who would like what I said if they read it. Maybe you don't want to hear it, but that doesn't mean everybody doesn't want to hear it. Remember Noah's ark was found in Turkey on a mountain, an several other archaeological discoveries have proved the existence of biblical towns. That seems to indicate there might be an element of truth in these writings.

  • you don't roll the R's in Latin.. that would be Italian.

  • well, actually not! the R in italian and in latin are exactly the same..I know it cos I'm italian and have studied latin for a long time! btw, I love "ave maria" by schubert, and this woman is pretty good.. I guess it's not easy play and sing at the same time!

  • this is not from Schubert I think.

This Ave Maria is from Bach isn´t it?

  • no it isn't, the other one is from bach.

  • Right. This one is Schubert's.

  • does the soprano sing in violin key or in soprano key? relplay me. the girl has an amazing voice

  • As good as it is, I think she would be perfect if she wasn't playing theharp at the same time.. must be well hard

  • truly gifted;P

  • wow, the last part~

  • Is she sitting on a cloud ?

  • Glorious.

  • Very nice. Can you please post the latin text?

  • Ave Maria Gratia plena Maria, gratia plena Maria, gratia plena Ave, ave dominus Dominus tecum Benedicta tu in mulieribus Et benedictus Et benedictus fructus ventris Ventris tuae, Jesus:// Ave Maria
  • Thank you very much. Or is that (multas gratias ad tuum)? - just kidding :-)

  • What a beautiful voice!

  • It must be difficult to sing and play the harp at the same time. Great performance.

  • A beautifully, well-trained operatic soprano voice singing one of the world's most spiritual songs! And not to mention the harp as well; one of the most difficult instruments to play!

  • Her voice is phenomenal!

  • my favorite ave anywhere so lovely shes so blessed

  • She is beautiful, holy, talented and has a docterate and two masters degrees. To the men, I think she is unattainable...

  • i prefer the german version, altough i don't know a word in german

  • Latin is the most beautiful, and oldest language. Nearly anything sounds graceful and flowing in latin. I think she shouldve done it all in Latin!
