For the record (remember what those are?) going way back to even the 60's Jan and Dean used recordings for some of their live performances. Yet people loved it cause they were there to provide a vibe, a feeling, a sense that the crowd could get into and have... FUCKING FUN!

Nope. Delia Derbyshire didn't have access to any keyboard. It was all done with modulated tone generators recorded onto 2" tape. She spliced every sound together manually over a period of weeks.
