I wonder why they don't make these type of agitators anymore? They look like the give the best rollover without beating the clothes to death like the dual action agitator!
I had a neighbor that that had one of these machines in the early to mid 70's, and I thought it was the neatest thing I had ever seen. We had a harvest gold whirlpool at the time no suds return ;-(
My Mom had one of these in the mid 1960's and then got a replacement jet action machine in the late 70's. These were Frigidaire Washer's when General Motors owned them. Later, they became owned by "White" and they became junk. White couldn't use the jet-action design.
My Aunt had a Frigidaire I-18 when I was a kid. They weren't the quietest machines around. When I heard the machine running, I'd wait till no one was looking and sneak down to the basement just to watch it run. unfortunately, Frigidaire wasn't the only machine that white destroyed. Westinghouse, Kelvinator, Gibson also met their demise to white. what's interesting, is the frigidaire was a westinghouse washer with a different agitator and a frigidaire control panel after white took them over.
These washers really did do a great job. The only problem was that the agitator drive would get very noisy, I replaced the part quite a few times and it worked great. I got about 11 years out of it, The tub leaked and ruined the motor. Not bad at all for 11 years
wish i had one the BEST

I'll take this washer over the new fangled agitatorless top loaders (e.g. Kenmore Oasis) any day. Too bad they don't make them anymore
