In terms of firepower, how many ships does that starbase equal? I've always pictured that thing to be an orbiting fortress 50 times the size of DS9. Having said that, how can any battle be lost if a planet has one of those things orbiting it? I'd imagine it would take a massive amount of ships to defeat the starbase alone (then there is also the starships docked inside it).
Nice Video, But if i remember my Star Trek history the 10th fleet Defending Betazed was attacked during a battle drill by a large Dominion Fleet and out of the 112 Federation ships only 14 escaped
@captainbly200 That was the 7th Fleet that got hammered like that, there was no mention what sort of losses the 10th Fleet suffered, only that it took under 10 hours for Dominion forces to overwhelm the outdated planetary defenses of Betazed.
@Xylofoni If I remember some of the fluff about the Federation planets taken by the Dominion. They were liberated by the Romulans. The Federation was worried that the Romulans might hold onto those worlds. Some of the more interesting aspects of ground warfare, though not canon were in the Dominion Wars rpg book. Holographic decoys, transporter booby traps that would beam you into space, assault skimmers, disruptor tanks, personal forcefields. Kazon boobytraps on steroids.

The fleet supposed to be guarding the planet was 'caught out of position on a training excercise'. Shame about the sound - the last part of my film has been banned in Germany for similar reasons- and that's the part with the credits! Weird!

The main deflector array is very useful but as a weapon, the few times that has been done it has damaged the ship, caused radiation that required evacuating the lower decks and burnt out shortly after. Still, If this was a high school project then it was wonderful ~^_^~
@AndyHUN92 Chain Reaction Pulsar, a special weapon for the Akira in Star Trek Armada 2, and as this vid demonstrates, it ricochets off two ships, gaining power off each for a crushing hit to the third ship. Rather effective in combat against massive fleets, actually. I miss my Armada 2 game, and win7 hates old games.... >.>
I thought the Dominion captured Betazed just prior to the Romulans entering the war. One of the reasons for forcing Sisko into luring the Romulans into attacking the Dominion in the first place.
@Andyjb6 I doubt the station actually had a weapons array. It would be unlikey that most Federation stations (as they were not a war race like the Klingons) had a defesensive array, but instead relied on ships around them to do the job for them. Of course that won't be true with all, but also Betazoid was not considered a huge strategic resource, more of a holiday resort, so why outfit that station with weapons to defend a holiday resort?
@TRUExSIGHTS - actually I think the Federation knew the common sense concept that for space stations ships are the first, but not the only, line of defense....so Fed.-built space stations were armed.....the 23rd Century Watchtower-class space stations had 12 phaser banks and photon torpedo tubes

Perhaps you should think of using a different song or series of songs for this video. Perhaps the song "Requiem for a dream" and "My name is Lincoln" from "the Island" movie? Just a suggestion.
@LocutusOfSmilebeez They can do that I think. I remember watching star trek tng episode when the enterprise tries to use the deflector to destroy the borg cube. The problem is that using the deflector drains alot of power after use.

The way he shows the destruction of the orbital docks and the damage done to the star-bace would prevent the two damaged star-ships from being repaired turning the tide in future battles angest the federation.

Ahh, a good time to clear up concerns about acceleration on starships. People are not beat to shreds during maneuvers and warp acceleration due to Inertial Dampers that counteract the forces of propulsion through the use of artificial gravity fields that counter (most) of the forces. There was an example of what DOES happen on a starship when the inertial dampers fail. Sisko recoved a crashed Jem'Hadar warship whose inertial dampers failed when going to warp. All the Jem'hadar were crushed.
They explain that very well in the book "The Physics of Star trek".
The book also explains how inertial dampers were absent in the Original series and that they were added to TNG and even Star Trek Enterprise (even though it takes place before TOS).

They are using impulse, not thrusters, its warping space around it but not enough to go FTL, this means that it does not actually have to go that fast within its own field and can pull off all kinds of stuff without having to deal with very much inertia.
well, wat about power requirements, i showed this video to a guy (who knows WAY more then he should about this particular class of ship) and he said that the interal dampeners would have to be well overcharged while pulling it off, other wise the entire crew would fall into the ceiling

Same implementation of the main deflector dish they tried to defeat the Borg with albeit burning out their dish in the process. Regardless of whether or not it's a fictional ship in a fictional series, within the series, it's proven fact that it can do that.
People who do these vids have to know that the Excelsior-class ships' warp plasma glows from the lateral grills, not the dorsal sides of the nacelles. Just like the Galaxy/Ambassador types do. Otherwise, nice detailing and graphics. Good work.

nice vid. but there are a few problems. it would take a whole hell of a lot more firepower than an akira class, a galaxy class, an excelsior class, and an ambassador class to take out that many ships. the smaller jem'hadar ships would most likely have suicided on the galaxy class or excelsior class ship right away, and the battle cruiser would have made short work of that akira. note, this is constructive criticism. i thought the vid was bitchen otherwise.

Yes they lost the battle. I wish there could have been an episode of DS9 where we saw Betazed being freed from the Dominion. There was a book written about it though. It's a TNG book called "The Battle Of Betazed" where Troi & the TNG crew helped the Betazeds retake control of their homeworld & defeat the Jem Hadar.

It is a really good vid but like...outta all the battles, all the planets to choose from, why Betazed lol? It is just so...generic lol the ost importnt thing it does for the series is produce Troi.
It's a nice movie and I salute you for it. Not just the ships were a job well done, the music was appropriate too. But what's with teh Galaxy deflector beam, it shouldn't be able to disable the big ship near the end.
That was really great work! That is one thing that star trek kind of lacked in, epic battles. DS9 had some good ones, but not many. They should use this in the new movie!!!!!!
Extremely good video, however I noticed an extreme amount of Z-fighting halfway through and on, the Galaxy's deflector is fuzzy for the whole thing and the brightness is really bad. Other hen that, excellent video!

Same here, the Akira, Galaxy and Ambassador class are cool but my favorite is the Excelsior. It looks sleaker than most starfleet vessels (something to do with the size of its long warp nacelles, although this often is an inconvenience in battle)

Same implementation of the main deflector dish they tried to defeat the Borg with albeit burning out their dish in the process. Regardless of whether or not it's a fictional ship in a fictional series, within the series, it's proven fact that it can do that.

People who do these vids have to know that the Excelsior-class ships' warp plasma glows from the lateral grills, not the dorsal sides of the nacelles. Just like the Galaxy/Ambassador types do. Otherwise, nice detailing and graphics. Good work.

nice vid. but there are a few problems. it would take a whole hell of a lot more firepower than an akira class, a galaxy class, an excelsior class, and an ambassador class to take out that many ships. the smaller jem'hadar ships would most likely have suicided on the galaxy class or excelsior class ship right away, and the battle cruiser would have made short work of that akira. note, this is constructive criticism. i thought the vid was bitchen otherwise.

These idiots don't seem to realise that by the average poster using songs in his/her videos only increases its popularity. I've seen countless vids here on YT and elsewhere where the BGM gets more attention than the video. The average viewer would then hop to the iTunes store and buy a copy, (note "Average"). This is free advertising for the labels, and yet they're against it. Figures.

Yes they lost the battle. I wish there could have been an episode of DS9 where we saw Betazed being freed from the Dominion. There was a book written about it though. It's a TNG book called "The Battle Of Betazed" where Troi & the TNG crew helped the Betazeds retake control of their homeworld & defeat the Jem Hadar.

Upside down, Akira becomes Star Trek Enterprise (2001).

It's a nice movie and I salute you for it. Not just the ships were a job well done, the music was appropriate too. But what's with teh Galaxy deflector beam, it shouldn't be able to disable the big ship near the end.

Same here, the Akira, Galaxy and Ambassador class are cool but my favorite is the Excelsior. It looks sleaker than most starfleet vessels (something to do with the size of its long warp nacelles, although this often is an inconvenience in battle)
