This video makes me so sad. As a lover of unions and Remy, I'm extremely disappointed. I really do like you, Remy, but you have this all wrong. It really has been getting harder to unionize since Reagan. For all of those who believe that unions are the downfall of "enterprise," might I remind you that unions brought us the 8 hr work day, no more child labor, and a host of benefits FOR WORKERS. The boogie-monster union intimidator is a creation of the Right -- don't believe the hype!
I am disappointed to see this video. I guess Remy is more Arlington than I thought. The courts have gradually eroded workers' rights and protections in the NLRA. The law has remained unchanged for the last 50 years or so, which makes it powerless in the modern workplace. EFCA is necessary to restore the power imbalance. Elections under the NLRA are not like elections in America. Also, employers only have to "bargain in good faith." The penalty for not is being told: "bargain in good faith."
And for the record, as long as employers continue to ignore election results until the election can be decertified, the binding arbitration provision is crucial.
This is exactly what is happening to our nations. Unionization is spreading and no one in the Obama Admin. will stop it. Unions caused this fiasco, since all the people in the executive cabinet were educated by unionized school systems. And if it's a stupid idea or organization, like the DMV, the gov't is probably behind it. For example: in the medical industry, make a mistake on an official report, and you have to make a line through it and initial it. Who made that up? a union that gov't hired
@DarthLandon Check your facts. Unionization in the private sector is way down, not spreading. Wage stagnation and the increase between rich and poor began the same time union membership declined. Unions built the middle class in this country. When we let companies make our value choices for us, this is what you get.
I have a deal for anyone who supports the EFCA. You demonstrate to me that unions don't have a long and storied history of corruption, thuggery, intimidation, etc. and I will support the EFCA.
I won't be holding my fucking breath. Christ, unions might be the only institutions in American life more corrupt than the government.
Ballots aren't private any more boys. You never said anything when the corporations arrange forced closed door meetings and firing 1 out of 6 workers because they support the union drive.
IT AIN'T A "SECRET BALLOT" UNLESS IT'S SECRET FROM EMPLOYERS TOO.
By the way Employee Free Choice Act is a very accurate title for the bill.
Bigfilmhat is so full of shit, it ain't even funny. Employers don't get see secret ballots. That's why they are called secret you dumb fuck. And how the fuck do you know these people never said anything about people being fired over attempts to organize?
Your shitty, pathetic "argument" does everything but address the issue, bigfilmhat. No amount of obfuscation from union thugs changes the fact the EFCA would eliminate the secret ballot.
I can remember in the 1970s, Lazy-boys in my hometown was trying to get a union. The people went on strike, the organizers arranged for foodstamps and the people got some assistance. The union was strong and they stood up for the workers, but after the founders retired. The once mighty union then became weak to the point that management told the union what was and was not! The people still had to pay the DUES. Maybe in the early days there was not enough freedom to choose!!!!

Hey Dave,
You've been duped by the anti-worker ABC. I know you're probably an actor, or maybe an employee of this group of frauds, but get hold of me. I'd be happy to educate you about why it is that an organization who represents employers (not employees) would be motivated to act like they care about workers and absolutely lie with the lyrics they had you sing...and I don't know what damonbeau said that made them delete his comment, but mine will probably suffer the same fate. Cowards.
Yeah...cowards. All you people care about is pocketing the dues YOU get off the back of the American worker. Boy, its a terrible thing in America when employers actually expect their employees to earn their raises. I wonder why you say you are for "working" people...all I've ever seen you people do is look for ways to get out of work. A group of frauds...look in the mirror pal...
Oh, come on now brf2002. Could you be any more cliche? Remember, at the peak of union strength in this country workers made on avg over $3 per hour more (around 1972) than they do now when adjusted for inflation. Members of unions I represent are the hardest working best trained employees you can find anywhere. If you want to be a tool for the corporate culture that's your business...but you need to update your insults. Or maybe your "too near the Beltway" location has corrupted your thinking
The whole point of letting people organize in the united states is that they do it freely!! That's organization without coercion!! or more commonly, freedom to assemble, if you're getting all constitutional. go ctay20!!
ABC...helping people who want to work hard and make something of themselves protect themselves from lazy, crybaby, over paid parasites. Sorry JoeUnion..did I interrupt your nap?
damonbeau - I think you are misunderstanding the video... This isn't anti-union. This is about dishonest legislation. You can be pro union and anti card-check.
Yes it is lol; why would you be anti card-check and in favor of people organizing? Card check isn't even new more people organized under it last year than under any other method.
Very simply, unions don't want private ballots like in every other kind of vote, they want intimidation & thuggery. So they're pushing card check.
Well done, Remy!

Dishonest propaganda, lying about EFCA is pretty standard these days, the union-busters thank you for it.
