  • I saw James years ago. Around 1990 I was young, around 24 I think. It was at one of the old ADFPA power meets in Lakeland ,Fl. No AC in the gym. Sweating like a Hooker on a Pirate Ship. James has to be seen to be believed. Around 6'5" and 400+. You just know he's strong. Grizzly strong. He was chowing on a 16 piece bucket and watching the meet. He stressed Heavy Hammer Curls as an asistance exercise. I feel he is the strongest drug-free bencher that has ever lived.

  • @bgarst cool

  • @boovalagrish is there a difference in a benching machine and a benching bar with weights what do you find better

  • Pshh!!!

  • One of the best benchers in the world.

  • Very strong, very well mannered. Good man, keep on pushing

  • "Easy as ice cream!" lol I'm gunna start using that

  • we need linemen like him.....

  • lol, thought he fell asleep at 00:47

  • EASY AS ICE CREAM!!!!

  • BENCH PRESS MONSTER!!!

  • mane i love watching this guy!

  • "thanks very much..." Nice.

  • this man is a massive machine, these lifters defy was humans should do haha

  • He insides and organs are now serving their time. I hope all works out well as his health will go down and down as he get older carrying that weight and any "supplements" he is using. The longer the use the bigger the problem.

  • @Weh1921 He's drug free. Stop being a hater because he's accomplished something you wish you could do.

  • @d5ive im pretty sure hes in prison for drug abuse dude lol

  • @RudeBoyNallin He did time a long time ago but it wasn't for *abusing drugs. He got out and is now doing something good for himself, his community, and whoever listens to his motivational speeches. It'd be shocking to hear that he's in prison for doing drugs, but since you brought it up, where's the proof?

  • @d5ive internet lol ive got mad respect for the guy because hes crazy strong and has a great attitude but its impossible to be in those numbers without the use of steroids

  • @RudeBoyNallin Well, since you didn't supply any proof about him currently being in prison for doing drugs and you topped that by speculating about steroid use (even though the events he won tested for doping), I'll just take your post for what it is.

  • @d5ive lol wooow

  • @RudeBoyNallin thats just stupid to say you need steroids to be that strong anyone can get to that strength level with incredible dedication though if they start thinking like you theyll be weak like you

  • @JimmaayN nah, you need steroids, dont give me any of that "dedication" mumbo jumbo

  • @RudeBoyNallin thats pretty damn ignorant, if you've ever worked out (I mean n actual workout not ones where you just stand there or run on the treadmill) you'd know that size and strength is possible without steroids. ronnie coleman was proven not to have taken steroids.

  • @JimmaayN lmao, nope, ronnies juicing pretty hard. i mean dont get me wrong, i give those guys a little respect for getting that strong because a shitload of guys in the world are juicing and their not nearly that big so obviously hes gotta get some respect because i know its hard dealing with a ton of injuries, but its just not nearly possible without steroids. sorry bud

  • @JimmaayN That just shows you know NOTHING.

You need steroids to be as strong as this. Ronnie Coleman not on steroids? LOLLL funniest thing ive heard in years!

  • @BigHugeIdiot I left this since you guys are pretty stubborn when it comes to this shit. Anyway give me solid proof big huge idiot.

  • @JimmaayN How could i prove it to you? By drug testing James Henderson LOL.

If your in the game, and have experience and knowledge....as i do. You know these things.

  • @BigHugeIdiot You were talking about ronnie coleman on steroids.. give me proof of that, if you have none then shut the fuck up and stop assuming

  • @JimmaayN LOL you are funny. So your saying Coleman is natural?

There is noway on earth he is natural. Bodybuilding is an untested sport (providing you go in a specified natural comp). All these guys are putting enough grams of gear into them.

How ignorant are you? Do you not understand this world....

  • @BigHugeIdiot I told you show me proof, all you do is assume on pessimistic values..

  • @JimmaayN Pessimistic? How is it pessimistic? Im jus being real. nothing wrong with AAS, i use them myself. I literally cannot believe you would consider to think top bodybuilders like Ronnie are natural. It tells me you no nothing, literally nothing.

How can i prove it? By drug testing Coleman myself? IDIOT.

  • @BigHugeIdiot Go ahead find proof of him failing a relevant drug test..how can I be the idiot when 1. you have no fucking proof and 2. your name is big huge fucking idiot.

  • @JimmaayN LOL getting angry are we? I admitt im an idiot though so thats different. Your just a plain idiot. They dont drug test athletes in most bodybuilding, strongman, and powerlifting leagues. This is why these people are all juiced up.

Why don't you simply type in google 'ronnie coleman on steroids?' or something. That should be enough in itself to tell your uneducated brain :-)

  • @BigHugeIdiot I'm getting tired of this. Go ahead search 'ronnie coleman on steroids' and you'll find the same thing NO PROOF. Is there a chance that he's taking steroids? Fuck yeah a big one. But until there is proof you can't say he's taking steroids just because other professional body builders take it or because he's huge as hell. You're feeding the stereotype of body builders, yes there's lots of body builders that take steroids but there's also a SHITLOAD that don't.

  • @JimmaayN Ok, well lets agreee to disagree. Its gone on long enough now.

  • @JimmaayN ya dumb fuck they are called 'natural' bodybuilders. even considering that coleman, cutler, heath etc are not taking roids is straight up stupid as fuck

  • @TapoutTanK52 You make no fucking sense..don't call me a dumb fuck when you can't even put together a sentence.

  • @Ludichris8531 It's cool man I know exploding is important that's why I use chains and bands I just wouldn't want to warm up like ryan kennelly does...hell I don't really warm up as much as some ppl do it's all what you prefer and what works for you..

  • @Ludichris8531 Think what you want henderson doesn't do it and that's the second biggest bench in the world..enough said...

  • @Ludichris8531 Lifting with lighter weights on with bands and chains is a good idea. Exploding with light weights with just the weights on especially for a warm up is dumb as shit....

  • @Ludichris8531 On another note Ive been to a lot of powerlifting meets and some strongman comps. I have never seen anyone ever warm up like ryan kennelly did. If Henderson pushed 225 like he is pushing 700lbs he would half to pull the bar back towards him while it is accelerating up to keep his elbows from locking hard. You want to prime your cns get your adrenaline going fight or flight you'll be primed guarenteed.

  • @Ludichris8531 Ive read studies where they have said that not stretching before you lift can help you lift more or that a certain amount of caffeine consumed before you lift can help you bench more.. You lift how you want but ryan kennelly is no raw world record holder so Im not going to take his advice..You lift however you want cause no two methods is universal for all.

  • @Ludichris8531 It is applicable it means start out slow with perfect form then as you go through the motions at a steady pace you gradually get faster and faster....In other words repetition brings reaction...Some of the best benchers in the world tell ppl to keep good form in there warm ups and it will transfer over to there working sets maybe that's why henderson is doing all the weights at the same pace...

  • @Ludichris8531 I'll tell you like they tell ppl in the military slow is smooth, smooth is fast.....

  • @Ludichris8531 It's controlled speed he moves all the weights at the same speed....look at his 500lb pause press close grip it moves just as fast as what he started with which was 315...

  • inspirational...

  • james henderson to me seems like a sound person who is true to themself. even though he was sentenced to 50 years and only served three he obviously has found his stable state of mind. everyone has inner demons, whether or not you find a way to keep them at bay is the difference between good people and bad. the way i see it he has found it through testing his body and being happy with what he has accomplished.

  • Is he making gun shot noises as he is repping out those reps?? lol

  • this dude is out lifting bodybuilders

  • @dm6testa777

what? he is SUPPOSED TO OUTLIFT a bodybuilder, thats a given, hes a POWERLIFTER. He trains and competes for maximum strength. your comment made no sense. Thats like seeing a video of Kobe Bryant and saying, "wow, he shoots free throws better than a hockey player." (rolls eyes)

  • @hybridman what u telling me i already know that coment came out as a thought just to let those who dont know know

  • LOL... Big James is the shit...!

  • James Bench pressed 710 in a drug tested meat, so yea, anybody with good genetics, can do A raw drug free 700 + LB bench press

  • I don't do much benching, but I love watching this guy. Strict form all the way through.

  • There is something about this man. It seems like I am really drawn to his every word. Just a great, great character. And his strength is legendary.

  • one word summarizes what you like about him

    charisma

and he has tons of it

  • U r a beast,man

  • Love how James talks and his view on things. He should be preacher or teacher.

  • Comment removed

  • LOLLLL! That would explain his personality, sense of humour, and heavenly glow thanks!

  • @LVSWTZ he is a preacher

  • Very good video! Well spoken and interesting. Thanks for taking the time to record this.

  • beast

  • still cant get over how ridiculously easy he close gripped that 500, looks like he could have done a set of 8, absolutely amazing.

  • Will Do!

  • easy as ice cream lol

  • This was a bit disturbing.... "In 1989 Henderson was convicted of drug trafficking and obstruction of justice, and was sentenced to 50 years in prison. He served 3 years at Rivers State Prison before being paroled and later pardoned in 1992." This was from Wikipedia. He's a Legend though, so all's well that ends well.

  • He Served His Time

  • @ilovehell666 Take a look at his shirt. He paid for his sins. He's square with the house now.

  • @ilovehell666

Why bring up his past (undocumented, from wikipedia no less)? I think every guy does stupid things when he's young - if I had been caught/arrested for some of the things I did when I was young, I'd still be in the joint.

At present, James is forgiven, and he's served his time.

  • @ilovehell666 was this vid from after he served his time in prison

  • @ilovehell666 you little bitch, you know you could never come close to being as strong as this guy so try to rub his name in the dirt? your names "ilovehell666" and you found that disturbing, you fake ass faggot lil fuck

  • @ilovehell666 While at Rivers State he began reading the Bible and became a devoted born again Christian.[9] Now Henderson gives motivational speeches to groups such as students, business leaders, and prisoners. He currently tours the Georgia Prison System as a speaker for Heartbound Ministries. During his appearances he tells his story of how he became the bench press champion and performs feats of strength.

    Think you left something out.

  • @ilovehell666 You need to believe in forgiveness brother.

  • @ilovehell666 Stop hating!!!

  • @ilovehell666 50 years is kinda harsh isnt it? he did his time and im sure he learned from his mistakes.

  • Cool, Strong!!

  • I really believe this guy just has raw power no bs steriods or nothing...very amazing lifting no matter his weight

  • @revo1ver69 He was convicted of drug trafficking, it's super impressive to be this strong, but he benchpressed over 700lbs raw in competition, get a clue.

  • and how sibling! keep tellin it! fantastic work!

  • these guys are cool as fuck

  • this guy is cool

  • Yea dude he's not an ass hole and he doesn't look, sound, or act like an idiot like a lot of big lifters do.

  • sound effects...

  • hahaha... :D

  • This guy is a powerhouse he benches and lifts crazy amounts of weight like it weighs nothing. i wonder how much he could lift he he went for 1 reps like the raw power lifters, would be interesting to see

  • He did 711 IPF standards (paused and drug tested).

  • he did go for 1 rep maxes....he is a pro powerlifter

  • High volume training refers to doing many, many sets of an exercise (or a number of exercises for a given body part), regardless of how many reps you are doing per set.

However, I do not know if that's what he's referring to here or not, but I hope that helps.

  • Fucking love it, that dude, is truely a strong mofo!!! awesome!!

  • At last, a bencher who talks the way I think. Bring it down , rest hold it , One, Tow . Then POW!!! Like an explosion. Plus you can hear his passion for the sport as well. Good Post, even better narration from a good lifter!!!

  • look like a cool guy

  • Jeesus christ! i couldn't lift that much weight using a forklift to assist!

  • please post the incline video, would love to see that, amazing lifter.

  • Soon - Sooner then you think!

  • haha, its hilarious that at 0:40 hes so strong that he has enough energy to say "thank you very much" to the spotter while holding 315lbs

  • when he benches 600 for 3 he says "thank you ver much get outta the way"

  • holly shit!!!!!!! i wish i went to Florida, damn i wish NC had that shit he was talking about high school lifting, who knows how better my max would had been? im just now getting 300 as a senior i like this dude's work out, i do something similar, but he is way too huge though.

  • oh get some common sens in ur fuckni heads please. he measn heavy weight lwo reps = sterngth. so shut the fuck up

  • That dude has a thick chest and back

  • man i bet i cant even do that with roids hahahaha i love watching natural strong lifters.

  • Strongest Drug Free bencher!!

  • YEAH GET OUT OF THE WAY!

  • MY NEW HERO

  • LOLOL GET OUT OF THE WAY. and i love his sound effects every time he push's. its awesome

  • I live in tampa florida.. I think a lot of the best lifters come from florida because who the hell wants to lift in 20 and 30 degree weather? florida is almost always sunny and humid (except this year) we had one of our coldest winters on record this year

  • I'll be honest with you man, great lifters come from all over. Some of the strongest lifters I've ever met lift in an old barn in the freezing hell of a blizzard. I'm telling ya man, I've met people benching 300, 400, and a couple at even 500 from lifting in cinderblock and concrete houses down the road despite it being 15 degrees in there. So greatness can come from anywhere.

  • you must have forgotten about russians.

  • What about the Russians?

  • i meant rogerthat foregot about the russians, not you :)

  • nice to see him thanking his spotters. NOW GET OUT OF THE WAY! lolz seems like a real legend of a guy

  • you guys all know that big james 'hollywood' henderson was the FIRST man in history to officially bench press 700lbs RAW, and that was around mid 90's...

  • "easy as ice cream!"

  • Hell yea i'm a florida high school lifter!

  • What are your numbers? Bench? Squat? Deadlift? and Total?

  • Jesus, this guy is my RAW bench pressing hero. He is the onyl motivation I have right now to stay away from anabolic steroids and to get it done "the right way". I just wish that I could tell me spotters to get out of the way.

  • JH is da best hahahas.

  • dude, this guy is awsome!!! what a freakin beast. 711lbs RAW!!! "done the right way"

  • awesome man

  • yeah, load up the next part please!

  • this guy is amazing love watching this! i wanna see him incline like he said at the end he was about to do.... who ever is putting these videos up... put more up plz!

  • LMAO at the PSSHH

  • New goal is to get strong enough to warrant telling my spotter to 'get outada way'. Awesome.

  • all i have to say is watch 5:26

  • absolutely incredible that's all i can say, James has to be the best bench presser of all time, these clips are from the old Powerlifter Video series that Chuck Lamantia put out in the 90's, they used to advertise in Powerlifting USA, this was probably around the time big James was openly challenging that late great Anthony Clark to a bench off.

  • EASY AS ICE CREAMS!

  • Awesome power James!

I have people ask me all the time what kind of tricep accessory work i do.

I always tell them that I do flat benches and close grips. You dont need anything else. People try to get fancy from what they read in magazines.

You are proving what I always have said.

    High volume low reps.

I totally agree with your comments and training James.

  • what do you mean high volume low reps? isnt that a complete contradiction?
