do you have any files on the machine? the problem comes when you have 20,000 mp3 files, 200,000 photos, 100s of gigs of movies, and random files everywhere. Load your system to the max with files and re-do the video. i.e. iphoto/aperture will not load that fast when you have over 200,000 photos...how much ram do you have??

I found a piece of software, if it gives me a good frame rate and the quality is good I will post it up. but don't expect it to be as fast as a Mac Pro, lol!! But I'm pretty confident it is faster than most macs. I'll run a game (or maybe a few games) and some programs like iMovie, iTunes, ect.

OK this definetly, finally, proves to me RAM does matter alot. I didn't think it did because when I took my 3.4GHz P4 Extreme from 2GB to 3GB in Windows Vista I didn't notice much of a change in speed. Probably because Vista ate up the extra gig anyways lol.

I had Vista Ultimate with 3GB of RAM in it, and it completly devoured it. Of the 3,072MB in there, only about 500MB or so free.

What programs were running? Internet Explorer, and MSN Messenger. That's it.

Ya. I was running a few things:

Everything in the Games Browser, Games Browser, Internet Explorer, AIM 5.9, Windows Media Player (playing a movie), iTunes (playing a song), Windows Live Messenger, and a few more things.

I had about 1/1.5GBs of RAM being used. Obviously, this was during a test after I put the extra gig in.

Now, after I put the 3rd Gig in it was running fine. The reason I upgraded was because I was seeing lag. Well, now the lag is back.

Hmm, on my laptop with 2GB of RAM, Vista will use around 500-600 MB. I knew Vista used a lot of RAM, but man, that seems like too much. The only things I can think of are: I have Home Premium, not Ultimate (less components included, and therefore less components running?) and maybe it's gotten more efficient after updates, since your post was 11 months ago.

it is not avaible to the public, just companies, i work in a computer store so i got it for real, is really for server use but with 2 quad core 8GB ddrII 1T of sata and 2 PCI EX for a couple of babies... is going to do a nice job...

But for public there is still very nice machines if DELL. i love DELL becouse if you break you machine in 24 hours they go to you home and give you a new one! Belive me! that garatie is for 3 years

DOS - hmm, Your MacBook can handle it -- it might be that it is choking a bit on lack of RAM. A friend of mine opened up a ton of apps and windows on a dual processor G4 and it ran just fine! The MacBook is a GREAT system - I hope you are enjoying it!
