Great dancer, horrible singer, but she must have kown she sucked ass. Today they could have warped her reedy voice into something presentable. Lucky US... we missed it ... such a narrow miss with greatness.
But even this has to qualify as the Worst Follow-Up Hit in history. She truly shits crabs, here.
I mean, she might as well be shitting actual crabs out of her asshole in this doomed segment.
I've never seen the video. I used to babaysit and I'd listen to the song on Toni Basil "word of mouth" album and I'd keep listening to "Shopping from A to Z" - God I didn't have a life back then. Nevertheless, I've seen the video, now I may sleep in peace! lol Thanks for posting!
I'm sorry, I remember when this originally aired on MTV and I do not recall a cheesy ding like that...and to me, it sounds like you just added it after the fact. Love the video though!
Back in the early 1980's most TV sets only had one speaker. Because we were watching music videos while the audio was in mono, sound effects were sometimes added to the audio tracks. With improvements in technology, TV sets now have two speakers with stereo sound. Most music videos today play in stereo and the original audio tracks have been restored.
@Briben57 Even though a lot of the 1990s I did not know that many people who had a stereo television! a lot of the double speaker TV's I had were still mono! the only reason I got stereo later on is because it was possible to plug the hi fi into the cable box.
WOW!!! This is pretty damn obscure right here!!! And here I thought she was a one hit wonder with mickey. So I guess technically she is not a one hit wonder like how everyone says she is.
Not sure why Chrysalis chosse this as the second single follow up to "Mickey" - clearly not a good decision but a GREAT video. Nice to see Fred Barry from "What's Happening" and that punky guy from the "Satisfaction" DEVO video. Toni still looks beautiful after all these years.
Can anyone help me out on this? A - Apples B - Bananas C - Chili D - Dog food E - Eggplant F - Fish G - Garlic H - Hairspray I - Ice J - Junk Food K - Ketchup L - Liver? M - Mustard?

When I was a teen in the ealry 80s, a tacky local station came on at night and showed videos for us in the country that didn't have cable (MTV) and this was one of the few videos in their library. It's GREAT to see it again.
This is a helluv a lot better than ANYTHING MTV shows these days. All that rap crap, pop slop stuff....there were in the immortal words of Jack Nicholson in the movie Hoffa....F ing good old days...
is that spazz attack from the devo video "peek a boo"? that dude with a blonde spiked hair?

In my opinion, she is one of the best choreographers around. Forget Janet, J-Lo and Brittney--Tony Rocks!
