But why you use de Hypex DS8.0 instead of the 4.0? Is the 4.0 not enough?
Like the question asked about your bookshelfs... What is the wall thickness of the sub box, bracing consist of, dampening consist of etc. Thanks in advance
Front 50mm, other walls 25mm, plate amp completely seperated from the box. Heavily braced inside, all walls covered with lead bitumes and acoustic foam and filled with natural wool. It weighs around 40kg.
Solidly built from the sounds of it. What did you house the plate amp in? Also, what do you use for interconnects, speaker cable, subwoofer cable? Cheers
The housing of the amp is a seperated room inside the sub box. For interconnects I use audioquest A-quest sidewinder. For the subwoofer a balanced XLR. Speaker cable is Kimber 8PR. The internal wire for the sub is Silver Plated Copper 4mm²
How is this sub performing in movies? I can see in the datasheet its sensitivity is very low, only 82db/2,83 at 4ohms. If my math is right,this sub needs 4x power compared to a Seas L26ROY or a Peerless XXLS/Scanspeak 26W model to achieve same sound pressure level.

For movies one sub is not enough. Two 23W will give you the same level at 20hz as the XXLS will give. If we are speaking about sound quality and distortion the 23W will be better than the others.

Yes, the internal net volume is 30l, heavily braced inside, walls covered with lead bitumes and filled up with wool.
