  • Capt Ben,

I live in Stuart, I love the video. How do you like your Mercury Verado? I have a 250hp 4-Stroke Suzuki on my 24' Boston Whaler outrage, I love it.. but I've heard good things about the Verado!

    Amazing first Snook!

  • @reflex0r

I am usually in Stuart running trips for the month of July. Look me up when I am down there. The Verado was a good motor for the most part. Very quiet and smooth.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • Capt. Ben, Congrats on the fish. I was wondering what kind of set up you were using? I recognized the avet reel but couldn't figure out what model. Also, what kind of rod were you using?

     God Bless, Carmine Lacognata

  • @skinywaterfisher

I believe I had a Avet MXL with 80 pound main line and 80 poun flouro leader with a 7/0 Eagle Claw Live bait hook and a 7ft Cape Fear Advance Tech rod.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • Hey Capt, how do you tell if a snook is a female or a male? And if it's a female how do you tell that she is pregnant. Just wanted to know because is I get a slot sized female that is pregnant I'll let her go.

  • The female Snook are much thicker than the males. Most Snook over 30 inches are female as far as I know.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Hey Capt nice fish. I caught my first snook 4 nights ago off of the El Jobean pier, 20 inches on a soft plastic. Then a 26 inch the next night on a whiting. MAn they put up a great fight!

  • hey captchancey.... i am just wondering what moon phase it was at the time of this episode... ??????????? because where i live, and around the world, specific species of fish are dictated by the various phases of the moon...and their activity is relative to different positions of the consistent lunar cycle..

  • Dan,

We were before a new moon I believe. I don't like the full moon but I do like the days before it.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben
