A friend of mine, an FSU fan, always disputes this win, saying that Warwick Dunn scored. But a close look at the play will reveal while Dunn did cross the goal line, the ball did not, as you see Dunn trying to scoop up the ball while he's on the ground. Great game by UVa on all fronts. Hope the Wahoos can one day get back to those winning ways. Things aren't looking good under London.
@beerizzle13 Yes...and I am glad for it. Just a little more consistency and fewer mistakes, and the Hoos can really become a force to be reckoned with.
@brownhornet22 I realize your comment was three weeks ago, but three weeks later, things are looking pretty good under London. If we have a repeat of this tomorrow, the Hoos will be drastically exceeding all expectations for this year.
@gneumatic74 Yeah...I made the comment right after the loss to NC State. I wasn't in the best of moods. But, as you stated, things are looking pretty good 3 weeks later. I'm happy the Hoos are guaranteed a winning season, which should really help recruiting.
@brownhornet22 Yeah, we def should not have lost to NC State... I was having my doubts at the time, too. We've got two huge tests in front of us, but I think lightening could definitely strike twice with Free Shoes University - go 'Hoos!
I was 11 at the time and a lifelong cavs fans. I was laying on my bed listening to the game on the radio - no cable, no tv. My english teacher at school was a big virginia fan and i remember the next day at school he said "i can't believe it". Every time i watch the last play it takes me back to listening to it on the radio. Too bad I was too young to appreciate it at the time. All i can say is classic game and classic finish. Here's hoping for more history to be made.
I was just talking to my coworkers about Anthony Pointdexter and how good he was in high school from my area in southern VA. And it was ironic that he made one of the most memorable plays in Cavaliers football history. I was in total shock but very elated and I'll never forget it!
I remember the finish very well! I was in Air Force in South Korea stationed at Kunsan AB. And it was already Friday morning and I was watching it at work we just happen to not be very busy that day. As I was watching I was waiting for the collapse just like they did against Michigan earlier in the season after being up 21-0. But as the game went along and I saw how well the defense held FSU in check and it got close I started to really pay attention. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
I remember watching this on a Thursday night after football practice, I was in 8th grade. I had to beg my Dad to let me stay up and watch the entire game. Was the first time I fell in love with College Football...Been a Hoos fan ever since though its been tough to watch as a UVA fan during the Groh years...But man its crazy how this game takes me back to my youth...time goes by fast....WahooWah
I can still see myself in the crowd coming on the field - we were the second row behind the bench and got on the field right away. Bumped into Bowden on the way, and then I learned that once you're in a crowd like that you can't get out. I also remember jumping up and getting a bear hug from Doug Karczewski, which was very cool. Eventually got back to Copeley completely exhausted and hoarse - best time I ever had in my life!
No, FSU was #2 coming into that game, we were #24 I think. I too was at that game. Didn't even want to go, thought we had no shot. My roommate dragged me out, and we stood in line for around 2-3 hours so we had great seats right behind the FSU bench. For most of the game we had fun, but didn't get too excited because we knew FSU would take over soon. It wasn't until well into the second half that we started to believe. Tiki and Farrior were monsters in that game.
i was at that game and on the field afterward. unfortunately i was too young to really appreciate what was happening, but my mom and dad were going absolutely crazy with joy so i knew it was huge. god i love UVA football.
tiki barber was the man in college i love seeing fsu lose lol

Why did that guy slide down at 8:44? Way too much time left on the clock for that. Go HOOS!

@qukarlz That game was a fluke. 9 times out of 10 that same FSU team steamrolls them. But they did kick our ass.

This game had me on my TOES! I cringed at the ending, and to think that it happened AGAIN 10 years later!....sigh.

I was so fucking tight that night. I didn't even want to go to school the next day. WE WOULD HAVE WON THE NATIONAL TITLE.

Damn just to think that one more game would have only "tied" the record for most conference wins...I would have thought they had it by far
