great stuff. Do you have problems with wind on your panels? I'm from Minnesota and we have similar weather. I got to ask ya. Do you find that you have enough sun to meet your needs? Energy wise.
great video! im from the pictou county area also just wondering where you pickedup the batteries at? im looking to build a solar array aswell. thanks.
@devinhiltz22 i purchased the batteries from ten penny recycleables they were badged dated by the phone company and discarded the recycle plant and replaced with new ones.i go in and TEST VOLTAGE each one and purchased 24 perfectly good batteries 20 bucks each these batteries are worth over 200 each so try that and happy testing
Hi: I just live up the road from you in Amherst. I am presently experimenting with Solar Electricity for my shed and house. I have home made panels, 2 on the shed and 2 on the house. Storing the energy in deep cycle batteries (2 x 100 amp in house and 2 x 75 amp in Shed). Slowly I am replacing all my light fixtures with 12 Volt LED Lights. I do have inverters but I will save them items that draw a lot of power. I like your manual trackers.
You are sending 24 amps from the solar array via 14 gauge wire? Seems like a lot of amperage for 14 ga. Have you measured the voltage drop at the charge controller under load? You may be able to increase your efficiency using larger wire.
where did you get your panels ? if you dont mind how much was they?i like them a little better then the ones i have .they look like they mount easier them mine.thanks sorry to bug you....
I like it!!! This is priceless information, I took me alot of vids to find this, cool Mine is like lameartosh's, is there an idiot proof way to link the panels together?
I support your thinking green and off the grid

Very nice job
Have you thought about useing all 12 volt stuff
Lights,fan,radio,ect??
mytickets 2 years ago
@mytickets everything is more efecient with higher voltage and the low cost inverters have eliminated thehigh cost of 12 volt appliances

WOW ! Thank you for all your work and putting this on. Do u have ideas for wind power? Also do u think the Solar will be adequate in the winter?
exposethetruthnow 2 years ago
@exposethetruthnow no a small backup generator is needed

That's an awsome piece of engineering, how does it hold up in the wind? or is wind not a problem in your area?
allslideways 2 years ago
@allslideways the panels are slightly seperated as per my design in the build and the wind blows through

no my panels are 15 watt panels theres 22 of them and a 30 watt panel for a total of 360 watts
offgridgarage 3 years ago
thanks alot ,i have 45watts right now but i am ordering another set that will make me have 90 watts. are your panels 18 watt panels cya later, letosh
lamartosh 3 years ago
hey what size wire did you use from your panels to your charger? thanks nice vid. lamar tosh
lamartosh 3 years ago
14 2 under ground wire into a 15 amp breaker then to the charge controller.
offgridgarage 3 years ago
@lamartosh each tracker to the charge controller use direct bariel 14 2
