Hey man, went out after your Ustream today and found this at TJ Maxx (getting lots of good deals lately for some reason) and my only problem with it are the loose legs and the crane on the arm in Bot mode. Other than that I love the G1-ness of him, Grapple has always been one of my favorites.

Remind me to tell you my Grapple Christmas story during the show one day, it's funny.

sound stupide but i liked the g1 versions better....

to be honest what ruins it for me is the wheels , they seem very cheap and out of proportion ea very flimzy for a fire / crane - truck...

those weels ( think its the thin wheel and the hub patern ) remind me of those cheap gobot ripofs withe a wind up motor that you could pul backwards...

and the hook should sit on the back and not the arm...

somhow they cant make a perfect toy and just seem to rush it , so sad

Ah, great review. I actually like this figure better than Inferno's. Only thing I wish Hasbro would've done, is make his hook the same dull gray(wow, I actually wished for more dull gray plastic) as the other areas on him. Not sure why it's orange.

I hope they re-release another Inferno with his rightful ladder(yes, I realize the first one was based off G2).

I really love this new Grapple. I hope I can find it. My only problem with Grapple/Inferno is that they are bigger (Ultra) than Classics Prime (Voyager). Prime should be at least the same size in truck and bot mode. Other than that, Solar Storm Grapple rocks. Love the colors and overall look. If my Grapple is also missing his symbol, I'll just get a rubsign from Reprolabels. :)

As for why "Solar Storm" Grapple, that's because of the whole "Reveal the Shield" concept. Yeah, all us old-timers know he's an Autobot, but think about the younger kids: They have to wait until they get the toy, and actually rub the rubsign, to find out if they got an Autobot or a Decepticon.

I'd say they changed the forarm panels to not pivot because each figure of a given size class not only has a "budget" of overall mass, but also a "budget" of number of parts and such. And that budget may have been reduced slightly in the post U2.0 days. Of course, I AM just making a wild guess here.

The original Inferno was a Hook and Ladder Truck so matched nicely with Grapple which was a construction crane. Classics/ Henkei Inferno is a Pump Truck which mounts ladders that aren't normally more than 15' in length so the crane reissue to Grapple works more on the nostalgic level.

as for the hook being the wrong way, i dont like it either, but we gotta deal. Classics Megatron was the same way and as was Battle Blade Bumblebee (even though all of the pictures have HIS axe the right way)

It's great to see so much remoulding. I was expecting a new head and the crane and nothing more. The lack of swivelling arm guards might be because of the curved forearms. Less of a flat surface to pin the arm guards onto and still allow them to rotate. But even with that, flatenning them off at the back would've been easy surely?

I found another thing to grape about.

The nice black stripes paintjob in carform disapears in Robot form.

I think it would nice to have the nice paint job also on the robot mode because it's just to much yellow. (or orangisch like you said)
