I went there two weeks ago and was nervous as hell sitting there in that class, but having Louie as my instructor was comforting because he was totally hilarious. I will probably be doing it again this Sunday and every Sunday till I get my A license
I was there about two weeks ago and completed my first static line jump, I was extremely nervous while I was sitting in that class, but Louie was hilarious the whole time. Im probably going to go there again next Sunday... can't wait : )
@coryjb Have faith in the arch! It gets easier the more you do it! Believe it or not, falling through the air in a stable position becomes very natural with practice. I'm currently up to 515 jumps and I am getting my tandem rating this weekend. Just hang in there and keep jumping!
Im sure you have made many more jumps since you posted but if you look in your SIM the priority is Pull, pull at selected altitude and then pull stable
@styxer4589 - You're absolutely right. PULL is the most important. If your AAD skips out on you and you've focused on being stable, you will be in trouble. With that said, I'm deleting my previous comment so others are not misinformed.

Before I had 30 jumps you watched me with concern and never made me feel awkward though I looked rather silly, you did not abandon me. Thank you brothers and sisters of Indiantown, you made me a skydiver and I am eternally grateful.
hey toombs i love your last landing :-) i have done my first and my second static line ( if thats the line pulling your parachute automatically.. sorry im not sure whats the name in english) jump yesterday and both times i landed on my knees.. i hope to get better in landing, too. at which jump did you land without falling for the first time?
Once the canopy opened, I realized that I had flipped between my risers and they were both twisted. The canopy was flyable so I didn't cut away. Always remember: HAVE FAITH IN THE ARCH!!!
but you said the first 2 jumps are static line....then your 3rd jump was your first freefall. at my club you have to do 2 static line.....3 dummy pulls....then first freefall on your 6th jump....if you get everything right beforehand.
The first two jumps being static line and the 3rd being a freefall is only a description of the jumps in this video, not a description of the progression toward an A license.
My very first jump was an AFF which took the place of the first two static line jumps. So my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th jumps were the practice rip cord pulls, and my 5th jump was my first 5 second delay.
OMG, the chute was between your legs! YIKES.....I will program my mind to ARCH every time I suit up from now on (3 tandems so far, 4th jump is static line)
After the static line jumps, you gradually progress through freefalling from higher altitudes. I'm sure different schools have different progressions, but I did 2 five second delays, 2 ten second delays, 1 fifteen second delay, and 3 twenty second delays. The last jump in this video is one of my 20 second delays. After that, I did 5 coached jumps from full altitude and then several solo jumps until I had 25 jumps. My last jump was the coach dive for the A License.
Static line is old school cool. I shit myself watching them go out, bag spinning in the prop wash is not good for linetwists! Good jumps mate, nice one.
Maybe it's just me.. but I would have been scared as hell having begun with a freefall. I've done the static line course twice, and even though my jumps weren't perfect, at least it'll be over in 2 seconds. :-)
hi guys doing my static line course in may. just want to know what a coach rating is? is it only in america im in england?? hola

don't you have to do 3 dummy pull jumps after your first 2 static lines?

Yes, they are called practice rip cord pulls.

Archway Skydiving, Vandalia, IL. It's about an hour east of St. Louis. I recently got my A License from them.
