I liked expansions in the 90's much better. There was usually a good deal of new stuff for a semi-fair price. These days, you get charged for fucking profile pictures, costumes, extra colors and ultra short campaigns... And I'm not paying.

Activision/Infinity Ward charging 12 fucking quid for 3 "NEW" maps and 2 tweaked maps is total bullshit. there should be an agreement or some shit put down that no one can charge any more than £3-4 (if not free) for maps, extra, etc, And XBLA/PSN games should also be no more than £12.
The best gaming experience comes from single player in my opinion: Red Dead Redemtion, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, GTA4, Dead Space 1 & 2 etc the problem lies in u don't put near as much time into a campaign as u do an addictive online and devs see that and realize they can nickel and dime the fuck outta u with there DLC because of it
now a days shooters like BFBC2 and COD give out easy and boring shit singleplayers (BO is an exception but yet it was poorly portrayed) but games like kz2-3 and games like borderlands and fallout are what make a game A GAME oh and i hate campers if u have psn add me SCREDEYE

DLC is the greatest but also worst innovation to come to video games in the last 15 years. It's cool when a game I like, Fallout 3 for example, comes out with new content months after the games release and gives me more hours with a game I love. RE5 is bullshit because that stuff was already done. In the good old days (the PSX days) that shit would have been available as an unlock (remember those?) after you beat the game. Instead Capcom seen fit to charge us it.

I can't see it all going multiplayer, not when games like Mass Effect, Uncharted and Metal Gear focus so much on singleplayer. DLC is a bloody con though

A lot of it has to do with the 360 and the dvd9 format with it being the lead platform there is no space on the disc 8 to 9 gb i download more then that in one day but they have to,which has alot to do with a lot of devs switching to ps3 as of late Blu ray 50 gb,as far as the shit thats on the disc already thats bullshit .
I agree so much with the dlc some stuff is really original and you can see they have went out of there way to create it and there is others that you can just tell they chopped off a part of the game and decided to charge us for it! its getting out of hand now. I also know loads of friends mostly that play cod online without ever playing the campaign, i like to get my moneys worth but thats just me! I like to go through the campaign on the various difficulties then go on online.

Capcom, as you mentioned, are one of the worst culprits. I think I now know why SF4/SSF4 was a letdown compared to SF3, RE 5 compared to RE 4, DMC4 compared to DMC3..

I think some DLC helps to extend the life of a game(dragon age for example) like expansions for PC games, but stuff like maps and shit like that is just dumb. As for online i think its bullshit that people just overlook the campaign. I hope that that never effects the campaigns of good games, but we have seen it already with black ops shitty campaign.

Developers are just going to make less complete games, and charge more for dlc. Just wait, soon you will buy your 60 dollar game and you will get 2 hours of campaign and 2 online game modes with 2 maps, but over the next three months there will be 80 dollars worth of "dlc" to add, but by the time you have all of the dlc the game won't even be relevant anymore.

I was shocked with dead space 2, after all the good reviews. HOW ON EARTH could they have made dlc that quick? O yeah, that cut it from the disc :S or its already on there & the dlc code unlocks it.

The reason I get a game is for the gameplay and story aspect of it. Online can only give so much. people say they don't have enough time to play through the story because they only play for 30 mins, but with the accumulation of those minutes you could have beaten the entire game. Furthermore you get those nubs who fall into habit because they don't understand the full scope of the game they are playing.

Because we all know how much money & coverage online games recieve these days (Call of Duty) is MASSIVE.

DLC is the greatest but also worst innovation to come to video games in the last 15 years. It's cool when a game I like, Fallout 3 for example, comes out with new content months after the games release and gives me more hours with a game I love. RE5 is bullshit because that stuff was already done. In the good old days (the PSX days) that shit would have been available as an unlock (remember those?) after you beat the game. Instead Capcom seen fit to charge us it.

BUT
companies like activision and electronic arts use this revenue for extra money while pumping out little to no extra content (milkage), I really dont mind them using dlc for milkage as long as they conform to some kind of understanding that DLC should be extra content and not already installed on the disc which has been the case for many many games as of late

A lot of it has to do with the 360 and the dvd9 format with it being the lead platform there is no space on the disc 8 to 9 gb i download more then that in one day but they have to,which has alot to do with a lot of devs switching to ps3 as of late Blu ray 50 gb,as far as the shit thats on the disc already thats bullshit .

I agree so much with the dlc some stuff is really original and you can see they have went out of there way to create it and there is others that you can just tell they chopped off a part of the game and decided to charge us for it! its getting out of hand now. I also know loads of friends mostly that play cod online without ever playing the campaign, i like to get my moneys worth but thats just me! I like to go through the campaign on the various difficulties then go on online.

Capcom, as you mentioned, are one of the worst culprits. I think I now know why SF4/SSF4 was a letdown compared to SF3, RE 5 compared to RE 4, DMC4 compared to DMC3..

I think some DLC helps to extend the life of a game(dragon age for example) like expansions for PC games, but stuff like maps and shit like that is just dumb. As for online i think its bullshit that people just overlook the campaign. I hope that that never effects the campaigns of good games, but we have seen it already with black ops shitty campaign.

@birddogg62 DLC & Online are not bad at all, its how publishers & us the gamers use it. (DLC like you said with dragon age was done well, just like GTA Episodes or RDR Nightmare) but then those shitty items, maps & disc locked content that could & sure be cheaper or free :S
Online again falls under the same light, it can extend the life of a game we love. But then you get the cheaters / boosters. Guys who dont even touch the campain. Dev's check up on this & this data adds up for future games

i will never buy a DLC, its like £5 for an extra 10 mins worth of play, i usually just wait till theres a game of the year edition like in borderlands or uncharted, lol gaming companies just think we will cut half the game so we can get it out by xmas and just put the rest as DLCs as we know they will buy it anyway

This is a funny, and awesome video. However, the problem he is addressing is not so awesome. People need to stop wasting money on dlc. Developers are just going to make less complete games, and charge more for dlc. Just wait, soon you will buy your 60 dollar game and you will get 2 hours of campaign and 2 online game modes with 2 maps, but over the next three months there will be 80 dollars worth of "dlc" to add, but by the time you have all of the dlc the game won't even be relevant anymore.

I like how Silent Rob put it- The idea of DLC is cool. You pay money and expand the life of your game. But that's not how these publishers are treating it. They're treating it like a way to charge you more for the game. They just take out stuff that was originally supposed to be in the game and selling it. It's bullshit. I'm not bending over to let them stick a dick up my ass. I'm not buying Dead Space 2 because they ALREADY announced DLC missions for it.

See, thats my biggest problem with dlc, because your right. There is a reason many games are getting shorter these days. DLC is 1 big factor for that.
I was shocked with dead space 2, after all the good reviews. HOW ON EARTH could they have made dlc that quick? O yeah, that cut it from the disc :S or its already on there & the dlc code unlocks it.

The reason I get a game is for the gameplay and story aspect of it. Online can only give so much. people say they don't have enough time to play through the story because they only play for 30 mins, but with the accumulation of those minutes you could have beaten the entire game. Furthermore you get those nubs who fall into habit because they don't understand the full scope of the game they are playing.

Because we all know how much money & coverage online games recieve these days (Call of Duty) is MASSIVE.
