I have a Briggs 11 hp powerbuilt. I rebuilt it. When putting together the governer gear fits on the end of the cam but isn't held in place at all. It also serves as the oil sling. I used the governer arm to keep pressure on the gear while putting back on the cover. Do you think that is on there correct. The arm doesn't gat stuck and the shaft doesn't get stuck at all. I just wanted to know before starting it so there is little risk of damage
Hey buddy;I enjoy your videos alot, very informative.I got a new ariens snowblower a year ago.I am very familiar with the tecumseh snow king engine, this ariens has a B&S,Ive been told B&S engines are not as durable as the tecumseh.Just wondering if you could give your opion on this...Thank you Cliff
Was the surface on that crankshaft scored? And when you sanded the crankcase where the gasket goes, I would have tipped it over so that the dust doesn't go into the crankcase.
About your rtv silicone do you let it dry or do you just put it on. i put it on the carb of my 6.5 hp tecumseh toro lawnmower with out letting it dry and it seems to work fine. just wanted to know what you do
Hey dony after you put a new connecting rod in a engine and you put oil in it do you run the engine for a little bit then put new oil in it and do use 10W-30 or 5W-30
Did this same repair on a 10HP tecumseh. Connecting rod shattered and was replaced. But now have governor issues since I put it back together. Is there a was to adjust the throttle on this. The only way to start the engine is to manually move the throttle. It runs fast and doesn't seem to have a slow throttle speed anymore?????????HELP
think I have commented on your clips before but I just want to tell you again what a great teacher you are and hope that if you're not , you might want to consider a teaching career...also thank you for all the fun I had watching your clips...
Awesome video! I have a MTD Yard Machines Snowblower from 1994 .8 HP & It runs very ruff! If I made you a video response could you do a diagnostic on it? Thanks!
One more question.I really admire your neat and orderly shop do you have a video of how it's set up and how you hang your tools?if not, would you consider doing one?thanks
I'm curious about price only because I have hopes of getting out of the trucking business after 30 years, and repairing small engines. How much (Canadian)would you charge for a job like this not including parts?do you charge by the hour or do you have a set fee for a particular job?thanks. I'm glad I found it. You make it sound so easy even a caveman can do it!LOL!
excellent man! you did a great job. is there a reason why you wouldnt put new rings on it while it was apart? or you just wanted to keep the cost down?
well good job on fixing your engine, pretty well informed and im sure this will help alot of people, I have never fixed a tech. engine. I also had a tech. engine that threw a rod, but the block was beyond fixable, the cylinder wall was cracked all the way to the head.
So, I took my engine apart before I watched this video. I didn't keep track of which lifter was intake and which was exhaust. How do I determine which is which?

@ringbolt9 it's very rare that they need changing. i left them in because it had good compression before the rod broke

yes

yes it would not run proper if at all
donyboy73 2 years ago
what if you had the cam gear teeth not straight with the mark on the crankshaft would the engine not run right?
Smallgasengine1 2 years ago
@Smallgasengine1 It wouldnt. It would make the valves open at the wrong time and make it backfire etc.
