@reevegarrett I'm pretty sure all are EV raised... most have good IV's, I can't speak for everyone, but I know anytime I was a gym leader my pokemon at least had perfect speed.
@marshtomp8 Fantastic, we do it every semester. Join our facebook group for event invites (link in video description) and come to the challenge sometime!
I absolutely hate people who become a "gym leader" then say shit like "No, you can't use earthquake! ;-;" has brock ever said, "if you picked squirtle or bulbasaur then you can't battle me"? Did Skyla ever disallow thunderbolt? No. they came up with ways to deal with their weaknesses, and so should anyone else who wants to be a "gym leader", not just ban shit thats good against you.
@marshtomp8 You do not have all the information. With the electric gym there was a sidequest available that would unlock the ability to use earthquake in the battle. It was suposed to entice competitors to see all the story that the challenge had to offer. If you decided to NOT do the sidequest, then you had a slight penalty. Earthquake was allowed, ya kinda had to earn it.
@marshtomp8 Someone else already answered your question, the EQ thing was just part of a sidequest that was a bit mishandled. Check r/pokemon for more info if you want it.
@StriketheMask of course! check out the Penn State Pokemon Society on facebook. Join our page and we will notify you when our events are. Then you can feel free to bring friends and take the challenge. A link is available on this videos description.
@theGzd5012 we wanted to give everyone a chance to experience the full of the event. it would be a shame if no one got all 8 badges and then all those elite four teams went to waste. We tried to focus on everyone enjoying the experience first and staying supertrue to the games second
I guess since I am not a member of the club I do not understand everything, but why can you battle the elite four if you have not attained all eight badges?
@TheGzd5012 A slight correction: I believe Alex Morse went against the E4 because of the film. Normally, it's those with all the badges that can fight the E4, in the order in which they show their badges to the Professor. Normally, that's about eight people (was really tough this time). And I think normally, the people that have all the badges can challenge the E4 twice. If someone beats the in-game Champion, they become Champion, and it's King of the Hill against the remaining challengers.
@SlvrSmrai759 In the past we usually allow anyone that wishes to challenge the elite four to do so if we have the time. It would be a shame for the elite four to take the time to train and have NO ONE to battle, so this kinda makes sure they can. Remember, we want everyone to have the most of the experience they can. Though if they do win, idk if theyd get champ status...
@thirdzee It was suggested in the very inception that everyone could go through once, in order of how many badges you got, but that all eight badges let you go through a second time.
The LARP ruleset is being finalized and written up before the next LARP. I think that still makes the most sense.
@SlvrSmrai759 We were going to cover the Elite Four regardless of whether Morse came back or not. We initially thought that he wouldn't be allowed to come back, but when we found out that he would be allowed to challenge to E4, I texted him and encouraged him to come (and bring his girlfriend), so he did.
If anyone's interested, at the end, in the last match, the first critical hit was from a Stone Edge. The second one was a Waterfall, but there's about a 50% chance it would have KO'd without the crit. Still ridiculously lucky, though.
@SlvrSmrai759 Ah, yeah, it was kind of a hard thing to explain... Sorry about that! >< I think I communicated it well enough that it was insanely lucky.
I would sandusky all of you in pokemon.

Also, did the gym leaders IV breed and EV train? Or did they have to have randomly trained Pokemon?

wait did no one use pokesav to make their teams with the highest legal ev's?
MattCat8 2 months ago
@MattCat8 I believe that most people do not pokesav. We've never really done a survey like that.
SlvrSmrai759 2 months ago
@MattCat8 I know pokesav has been used with specific pokes before... I personally frown at it... PUT SOME DAMN EFFORT INTO THE GAME ya know?
