I think living a little is fine. Why should meal time (or snack time) be a time to suffer and worry about the number of calories in a given dish? Food should be soothing to the soul, not give it MORE stress.

Honestly, when it comes to food shows, I just take the ideas and do my own spin to them. I'm sure the tv hosts (or hostesses) WANT you to do that instead of following the exact recipe b/c their tastes might not fit yours. Thats why I love Nigella because she tries to cook in a non-fussy way

Why can't you just take her recipes for what they are? I don't get why you should finger point her by saying she's had one doughnut too many. She's nowhere near obesity! There are plenty of other cooks and food shows that would satisfy your health conscious mind.

I used to go on very restrictive diets, where I would only allow myself organic fruit, veg, natural yogurt, fish, milk and cereal. It didn't last long, but also I couldn't lose a pound! I found that by eating a little bit of what you love works best. So let people have their cake, or French toast, as long as they eat it in moderation. That's all I have to say.

@manthapantha3 no I dont think this is any healtheir than a donut. If she made a donut it would probably be healthier than this as she would use raw ingredients rather than processed bread. I am on a restrictive diet, I eat only whole foods and lost 25 kilos. I dont eat sweets, refined, packaged or processed foods. I have done that for 2 years. Final note: a 'late night snack' which should be something healthy and go down easily like fruit, Jelly, even hot milk/chocolate.Not french toast
